Thailand, China to waive visa requirements from March 1
Marc in Calif replied to reader's topic in The Beer Bar
Here's just a sampling of comments from members of these very forums: I recall a couple of years ago when I was walking around Kenrokuen, one of the 3 great Japanese-style gardens. I was enjoying the serenity when suddenly large numbers of huge tour buses turned up all at once and disgorged a tsunami of Chinese tourists. The serenity disappeared, as did the views, because everywhere you looked you just saw people. They all wanted the photo with the famous stone lantern; the problem is, they don't just take 1 photo and move on so that others can have a turn; they have to take multiple shots going through a series of poses. In Cambodia the locals complain a lot about the Chinese tourists. If you have ever followed a Mandarin tour group, you will have noticed the distinct lack of manners, pushiness, spitting, and general inability to relate to others. 80 percent of 2,200 Chiang Mai residents polled by the university in February said they were highly displeased with Chinese behavior. The survey and numerous comments on Thai social media blamed Chinese for spitting, littering, cutting into lines, flouting traffic laws and allowing their children to relieve themselves in public pools. Some restaurant owners complained of Chinese filling up doggy bags at buffets. The low point in local-tourist relations here in Thailand's second-largest city was likely a photograph widely seen on the Internet of a person, purportedly Chinese, defecating in the city's ancient moat. "Unfortunately, right now, the feeling is very anti-Chinese. In order to bring out such strong feelings in Chiang Mai people, it must be really bad. Generally, Chiang Mai people are quite tolerant of foreigners," says Annette Kunigagon, Irish owner of the long-established Eagle Guesthouse. -

The use of her here refers to Ali Wong, who has been on comedy stages, radio, and TV for a while now. She has also done a few films. -
It would be interesting to know how many of those (supposedly) 2.5 billion baht will be required to clean up the resulting mess and damage on the beach.

Thailand, China to waive visa requirements from March 1

Are there also requirements for Chinese tourists to behave appropriately while in Thailand? They should have to pass an exam showing that they know how to be responsible and courteous visitors. The same requirements should apply to any country that Chinese tourists enter. -
Weekends and weekdays only. Plus all holidays in your home country and all Thai holidays. Plus mornings, afternoons, or nights only. And at midnight or noon -- or both simultaneously! 🥰 Please also visit at least one museum for me. Even if it's for only one minute. 🤓

Of course you are! How many Asian countries have you visited by now? 😉

You're right! You don't remember "that saying" very well at all. 😍

I don't think the OP @EX Navy Dad will be getting either luck or fuck! But it's best that he fucked off in the way he did. 👋

Yes. Making it easier for tourists would be great for those looking to give (and get) lip service in the LOS! 👄

Seoul has long had a much more developed transport infrastructure than Chiang Mai. Seoul has had airport buses for many years. There are now 450 diesel-powered airport buses running on 14 routes between the airport and the city. They'll all be hydrogen-powered by 2030. Chiang Mai's airport bus started three days ago! Why don't you give your suggestions and recommendations to Thotsapon Puanudom, the Deputy Governor? I'm sure he'll welcome them. 😘

Indian Tourists Brawl with Thais on Pattaya Beach Road

Yes indeed! Escaping violence and crime (and rampant nationalism and religious bigotry) will immediately improve their material lot. 👍 -
Hailey Hicks is definitely not based at San Diego State University in California. She's been a full-time resident in Chiang Mai for many years. She worked at SDSU for 11 months in 2015-2016 while she was finishing her four-year degree there. If she claimed to the Pattaya Mail reporter that she still has a SDSU "base," then she was simply hyping her credentials like other hucksters do.

You pretty much have it right there! You also need to watch what touches your lips or goes in your mouth. 👅🍆

Yes, you're absolutely correct! The dirty old men on these forums have only one interest. And they need even more help and tips on how to indulge those interests as the years go by. It's one of Newton's laws! 🍎 🌳

Exactly right, my friend! But some folks on these forums apparently practice it full time when abroad. They post "reports" that document 24 x 7 sexual encounters or visits to sexually oriented venues. I know you're not one of those, correct? 😘

So you live in India? Nepal? I'm not talking about Indian expats abroad, especially in the "suburbs." They're precisely those South Asians who have left their motherlands because of nationalistic and religious thuggery. \ Thanks for demonstrating my point! 😍 -

Well, this thread is about Thais and visitors from India, isn't it? American thugs have had their own threads in these forums -- richly deserved! 🤓 -

People from the South Asian region -- and especially Indians -- have a reputation for violence and thuggery, particularly in mobs In fact, the English word thug is derived originally from a Sanskrit word used to describe those who murdered and robbed travelers. -
Yes. One for me and one for you. 🥰

A perfect recipe for increasing the number of air disasters! 😨 Shiny new budget airlines in Southeast Asia don't have such a great track record for safety. Many have eventually gone bankrupt. Are the regulators ready for an increase in licensed airlines?

He also makes it very clear that he hadn't ever read his Kaiser Senior Advantage policy carefully. He seems to think he's the first one who discovered the worldwide emergency benefits. And he doesn't know how to pronounce "Chiang Mai" even though Joy, his Thail "girlfriend", assuredly pronounces it correctly. 😉
