  1. Those with grandchildren in school seem to worry more about which health topics are taught. They appear have no complaints about the second amendment (at least not voiced in these forums).
  2. That's not called "gender studies" at all. It's a topic in science and health. What's the name of the class/course where they heard about puberty blockers? It's similar to people foaming at the mouth when children learn some historical facts about slavery. They cry, "Our children are learning Critical Race Theory!" Please calm down. 😇
  3. The subject "gender studies" is not taught in K-12 schools in the United States. It was developed exclusively at the college level.
  4. I think it's hilarious — but not at all surprising — that you extrapolated from "Rio boys" (in the original conversation reported by andygchicago) to any and all "Brazilians." So whether you're talking about native language, race, or cultural identity, your assumption is still way off. You're evidently unaware that the word Latino has several interpretations. But that too is not at all surprising.
  5. I hate to tell you this, but there is much more to a theater work's "plot" than just the words.
  6. On August 26, 2022, you already knew about -- and posted above-- this rather complete description of plot and theme changes: Without changing a word of text, this visionary 21st-century reimagining allows the classic musical to be seen in a whole new light. Among its themes are hotly-contested conversations about gun violence, Native American land rights, climate change, xenophobia, and toxic masculinity. Yet you still bought tickets and saw the show on September 21. That's what is so perplexing.
  7. Your internal logic here is missing some synapses. 😘
  8. I'm still laughing at how many words you used -- in a lame attempt to try to put me down! 🤩😂🤩
  9. Yep -- it's so easy in Los Angeles County! Records are available for marriages where the license was issued in Los Angeles County since 1852. In addition to certificates on file, there are indexes of marriages available for public inspection as follows: Marriages from 1852 to the present Records of confidential marriages performed pursuant to Family Code Section 500 are not available for public review. Certificates and indexes may be examined at no charge unless an employee is requested to search and/or retrieve more than five records. Random searches of the indexes or the certificates are not allowed. An application is required for each record searched. Information sufficient to identify the requested record must be provided. You will be asked to provide identification. Make an Appointment Appointments can be scheduled up to three (3) weeks in advance.
  10. I get those phone calls all the time. They're easily recognizable, so I try to keep the scammers on the phone for as long as possible with questions and answers that confuse them. When I'm ready to end the call, I make an x-rated quip about their wife.
  11. Or when the reader doesn't want to read a verbose and unfocused comment — about a revised travel guide, no less — that would "land better" if it were about 250 words shorter
  12. I first read this as "nipple effects" and instantly wanted to know more. I would have joined those spot checks! 😁
  13. NEW YORK (The Borowitz Report)—Donald J. Trump claimed that the failure of the Manhattan District Attorney, Alvin Bragg, to indict him thus far is “quite frankly, a conspiracy” to keep the Republican Presidential candidate from attracting campaign donations. “Alvin Bragg, who is a disgrace, should have arrested me by now,” Trump said. “He has treated me very unfairly.” Trump said that he had made repeated calls to Bragg’s office to demand that he be arrested but has received no response. “There’s something going on,” Trump said. “Obviously George Soros is telling Bragg not to arrest me. This should never be allowed to happen in this country.” Issuing an ultimatum to Bragg, Trump said that, if he is not arrested by Friday, “I will perform a citizen’s arrest on myself.” “We can do this the easy way or the hard way,” Trump said. “The easy way would be for Alvin to keep his promise and arrest me, but time is running out.”
  14. Just came across this old thread... So knowing all about this new production, you and your partner DID decide to go to Oklahoma! last summer in LA. And after you saw it, you complained about it over on that other site, calling it "Wokelahoma." 🙄 After you complained about the production that you paid to see, I responded as follows: Any theatergoer would have known the details of this (by now) well-known production. Are you saying that you were completely clueless about it before you purchased tickets? So you did know the details beforehand — and you went anyway? You clearly knew all about the new production and its changes. I think you have yourself to blame if you purchased tickets to something that you already knew you wouldn't like or appreciate. But maybe you decided to see it just so you could come online to complain and make one of your favorite political points? 🤷‍♂️
  15. Do you mean that the really "attractive" guys have moved to jobs other than sex worker? Or do you mean that the attractiveness of Thai guys has declined. 😇
  16. I think you'd be surprised. Moreover, Cranston has also acted on stage in the UK.
  17. I'm happy that you too manage the Felony Murder Law Review.

  19. The book was published more than 30 years ago. One Amazon review has this to say: At this point, OUT IN THE WORLD is anachronistic, but this is a blessing: the gay and lesbian movement progresses globally, and the conditions - which in some cases are quite dire - Miller relates here have changed somewhat. Published at the dawn of the internet, the change has been dramatic in at least a few instances. OUT IN THE WORLD is still very valuable as a reminder of history, and of the struggles vast numbers of great people had to make to live with some dignity and security. In an era in which certain numbers of gay and lesbian individuals might be tempted to take certain hard-fought goals for granted, this is a vivid antidote to complacency. For a more up-to-the-minute investigation of the state of the gay and lesbian world, take a look at the 2003 documentary DANGEROUS LIVING: Coming Out In The Developing World, which revisits much of the same territory investigated by Miller.
  20. Please don't keep your fingers crossed! We need Bryan Cranston back on the stage on Broadway and elsewhere -- and in any films or TV projects he might want to pursue.
  21. Israel is yet another example.
  22. Such tiny little boys!
  23. Yes, you do need to travel inland to find the few resorts and massage places that are gay-owned or at least gay-friendly.
  24. "or something"? Now you're just listing random items. That particular $1.6 billion package was back in April 1993 -- not even close to the 1996 election. 🙄
