I find hotels in Bangkok are generally very affordable even around silom. Personally I would stay in a hotel rather than an Airbnb.

I like jodd fairs. I find that it is one of the newer and cleaner night market. There are plenty of food and shopping options. Just take note that they have 2 locations. The original location is very close to rama 9 mrt station but is more crowded. The new location is slightly further from the nearest bts (ha yaek lat phrao) but I find it more spacious and might be more suitable for you.

I don't quite get the need for a huge room personally...my priority is the cleaniness of the room. Something between 20 to 30 sqm works fine for me especially when I'm travelling solo. But I have stayed in rooms around 10sqm in Europe and I was totally ok. But each to their own ☺️
