Though many of the media reports include the judge's directions to the jury, I haven't seen any where it's explained that the directions come directly from Massachusetts law. 56 states and DC recognize an insanity-type defense and all recognize a presumption of innocence. One would think as crazy as MAGAts are, they would be much more empathetic to an insanity defense. Maybe they should take their own advice. If they don't like the US legal system, they should move to another country.

It wasn't until the hung jury turned into the news story that I became interested in the trial. Knowing that an insanity-type defense is usually difficult to prove, I was initially surprised that the majority of jurors voted to acquit a defendant that had admitted to killing her children. But after a little checking, I learned that Massachusetts law in this type of case is different than in most states. Once a "lack of criminal responsibility" defense is presented, the prosecution must prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant was sane at the time of the crime. So, it no longer surprises me that the "poorly educated" MAGAts are so easily swayed to blame "libtard" jurors rather than educate themselves about the actual law the jurors were directed to follow.

Why is the Lindsay Clancy verdict so politicized? Both the OJ Simpson and the Casey Anthony verdicts were controversial, but neither were framed in a political context. Is this just a sign of the times we're living in? Or, is this just another opportunity to blame liberals and to rile up MAGA?

Recent polling indicates less than 40% approve of Orange Daddy's handling of immigration, while 58% disapprove. If he had just deported only undocumented immigrants with criminal records, I doubt he would have lost much support, but he probably would have gained many more independents as well as Democrats that would more than make up for any support he lost.
