Exactly something I was looking for, like I said I don't know much. I really want to go to Saigon, & I want to be somewhere more quiet as well, where I can take my shoes off, cheap massages everyday, & just generally take it easy

I enjoy reading these anyway so I will go through it & if we end up going I'll report back

A friend invited me to potentially visit Vietnam for a few weeks early next year. Know a little about it but not much, and heard it's only getting more and more popular as destination. I've never been to Asia before, but I've always wanted to go & see some of the big cities. I love meeting new people & going out way too late. But I'd also enjoy some barefoot walks & hammock naps, & some humid jungle weather. Anyways, does anyone have any experiences of any kind or thoughts on the country? Just trying to get a general feel & this is more interesting group than the generic travel forums. I also spent a LOT of my time working so I'd love to reap some of the rewards of being leisurely & not worrying too much about the wallet. We're both in our mid 30s.

Whatever happened?

Yeah definitely the furthest thing from a Hilton. Was some sleezy love hotel, found the guy online I forget if by site or app. But it definitely wasn't a fussy kind of place, although the guy did shout something down the hallway when I was leaving. I speak Spanish but I didn't really catch what he yelled, assume he was just givin the ok for me to leave that I paid. Wouldnt wanna have any problem there. The Cartagena one was much less rought around the edges although the first one I tried turned me away for trying to bring a guy there.

I met a guy at one of these when I visited a few years ago. I was new to Colombia & payin. Turns out he lived out of the motel room. I'm usually really good with names & directions but I can't find it online. Seemed a little south of there, not far from Theatron. He was a methhead & smoked a little. We went to buy cigarettes & I was desperate for it to end, but not without getting off first. Anyway, there was so many hotels around there & I had a much chiller experience at one but that was in Cartagena.

Oh I definitely do, not solely or especially, but if I visited Im sure that would change

I've read some of your blog but still really curious about Myanmar & what it's like traveling there now. I assume there's not too many foreigners

For that reason this site is a treasure, hopefully it lasts as long as possible. I was in HS when Youtube, social media, etc started to take off. The internet was fun then, blogs, forums, websites everywhere. I used to read all sorts, there was this online journal about this gay American guy in Juarez mx, I would read Bill in exile. All these things, I wish I was more participative & reached out to people thru the computer but I was younger & mostly did that with tumblr & more..dating sites lol. Funny how it all came to a head in the teens, & now when you search various questions, about travel, technology, whatever, you'll get things popping up like...Most recent post on this topic, 12 Y ago. Got taken over by easily dissolvable modes like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram. Worse of all theres so little archive, a lot gets lost. Time marches on 😅 i've never been to Thailand & it's really not my top place of interest, but I look forward to loggin in here a couple times a week to see what I find

Been totally geeked on Jakarta after they officially named it the biggest city in the world, how was it?

Never really got around to living that life, something always got in the way, sometimes myself. These days its a relationship, which comes with love & respect, which is better than anything else. But I'm still a curious guy & I enjoy getting a peak into the underbelly & the globetripping that you pervs offer. Thanks again guys

I log in to this site every few days just to read the Middle East/NA forum, seems like it's the only part of the world here that's off the beaten path that gets posted about it regularly, most of Africa, East Europe, LatAm outside the main countries, Asia outside main countries, etc are rarer to see stories from. These ones are just so wild. I ve gotten myself into so many reckless situations in life, but as i inch older some of these situations sound less & less appealing lol, I'm 34, curious how old some of you guys are?

Yeah these are definitely the parts of Italy I most wanna visit, especially Sicily. I had an opportunity a few months ago but I didn't have the funds this time around. It will come eventually. And by the way, even the daily life stuff is kinda interesting, helps since I would like to basically do the same thing

I don't get out of the country much, & i have a boy, so I'm not as interested in the itinerary ins and outs of Thailand and all that. But you spared us the excruciating details of you're every move lol. Quality over quantity, but I appreciate the quantity too

There's so many visitor stories out there about Cuba that filter or spin the experience it's hard to know what to trust, so thanks for this realistic & great report. I visited Havana for a few days in 2019 & I loved it but also it's just so different from anywhere else I been. Noticed same things about food, police, safety back then. Only saw 3 officers the whole time, one was in the same spot on San Rafael near the capital building everyday, with a giant dog. One of the others was sharing a bottle of rum with a couple lesbians on the Malecon outside where all the clubs are in Vedado. We stayed with a family in central Havana, took some pedicabs & a bus, but mostly walked, including to & from the clubs every night, in the middle of the night, from Old Havana to Vedado & to all the way to Miramar. We would find small little cafes & restaurants in the less suburban parts of the city. We'd hang out in the plazas and parks for the wifi. Anyways, i've wanted to go back ever since. Great pics

Well there are definitely the kinds of obscure places for an American that I'm curious about, and kinda went how you'd expect. How old are you if you dont mind me asking? The second attempt at a hookup ending with me wrestling the guy around the floor might deter me from trying again, but then again you're only in Mozambique once lol

How bout many blogs on anywhere, i got not hits & have been scouring, havent found much

Hey, long time no write. There's been a lot of questions in this forum about different places, but harder to come by answers I guess because theres less experience there, naturally. Does anyone know if there are other forums, blogs, even books out there that go more into depth for more obscure places? North Africa, West Africa, Latin American countries that are less on the radar, Pakistan...I don't know anywhere unexpected. I know they stories are out there but they're hard to come by when I search different search engines & social media, which both seem pretty much useless these days. They don't have to be vulgar, I like everyday things, adventure, talking about your experiences, but I do like it with an edge. Anyways I hope the question doesn't come across as too vague, basically I just have more curiosity then I can get satisfaction for. Have a good night, I'll check back in the a.m.

A lot of you guys are much more well traveled than me. I've been to some different countries & cities across America but nothing too unusual. What are the most unusual or obscure places you've been, in time & place, where you've found an encounter? Sexual, fell in love, found nightlife...a bar, a club, something more salacious. Somewhere in the cut where you wouldnt expect or where not everyone will find themselves, or before things were more acceptable. Just sitting at home today & letting my mind wander a little bit, sorry I dont have any stories of my own to share for this one, but thats why im curious...

Taking the mag consistently helped me with sleep

I take vitamin B as well as Magnesium, which helps with sleep which I'm sure would help with sexual health. Not a vitamin but I also use a lot of Maca which is supposed to have libido beneifts as well. I can't say I can directly measure the help, & I'm 33 so results might vary, but will say there's nothing like getting enuf sleep and taking a few days off from the cognac.

Interesting how everyone is different...I'm always much more adventurous & meet me many more new people when I have even one friend accompanying me, & I'm usually the social instigator. I use my alone time to recharge too, but usually in the comforts of my own home or somewhere familiar, even yesterday I was by the beach for a few hours by myself after everyone else had gone on with their day & I didn't know what to do with myself. But I've never traveled outside the country alone. My opportunities are too far & few between but as I save money with time that will change. Nothing wrong with being there for someone when they need it--not every need we fulfill is also gonna fulfill our ego, but I get where you're coming from, especially if you're used to dealing with the feeling on your own & have actually learned to embrace it. Although always having company definitely makes the fun harder lol That's why I've always been on the lookout for that evasive 'friend' who's down for some hedonistic adventuring

lol More appealing in an emotional way for sure but in a sexual way it depends, for some people its easier, i use these forums mostly for other reasons and am not big in to pay/being paid but its very popular in Colombia & sometimes it might be the way you go. But for whats it worth not everyone is doing it to make ends meet...just like we all have jobs, not every shift you work is to get your next meal...this is peoples living because they can make good money
