Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead. Still! 🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈
RockyRoadTravel replied to stevenkesslar's topic in Politics
This just came to mind. In Britain after Thatcher passed away, Ding Dong the Witch is Dead, rocketed to Number 1 on the Billboard charts. What song will go viral after the Incompetent-in-Chief passes away? A digression from this thread I realize. "A Six Dressed up as a Nine"? It's nicely Canadian. -
I was surprised that Senator Dick Durban, Illinois, was one of the senators who caved. He was one of the 25 Democrats who voted in the Senate against the GOP plan to invade Iraq in 2003.

GOP is deliberately tanking the economy
RockyRoadTravel replied to RockyRoadTravel's topic in Politics
The percentage of agricultural goods produced by family farms is a lot higher in Canada than in the USA because of their system of supply chain management that guarantees adequate price levels for goods produced. Rather than the American system of stepping in with subsidies during a crisis. Supply chain management is hated by the MAGAists was part of the 2018 free trade agreement negotiations, and will likely be part of the 2026 free trade renewal agreement. MAGA wants to kill the Canadian family farm, as well as the American family farm. And speaking of bankruptcies, America remains the only major economy where citizens have to declare bankruptcies because of medical debt issues. And now MAGA wants to throw even more people off of their health insurance with their Big Ugly Bill, part of their Contract on America. -
GOP is deliberately tanking the economy

How can you tell he's lying? His lips are moving. The people who are paying the tariffs are the American people. A good is imported, a tariff is applied to the good, the price of the good has the tariff price added to it. It's not mathematics, it's arithmetic. Even the Incompetent-in-Chief should be able to handle arithmetic. -
Election Results 2025 - Americans Hate Trump
RockyRoadTravel replied to RockyRoadTravel's topic in Politics
The lack of any sort of anti-trust legislation from the government (where are you when we need you Teddy Roosevelt) is allowing a bunch of extremist right-wing billionaires to buy up the media landscape (the latest being Tik Tok). We will see what kind of impact that'll have on public opinion, versus the public reality of the Incompetent-in-Chief collapsing the USA economy. I still think that the Incompetent-in-Chief is deliberately tanking the economy, because the MAGA politics of fear and hate sells best in a crisis. ln spite of the attacks on the USA economy by this White House regime, the Democrats still managed to pull off sweeping electoral victories across the country campaigning against you know who. -
The "main stream" media is mostly owned by extreme-right wing billionaires who interfere with editorial content. (In Los Angles, in Washington.) You either know this and demonstrate hypocrisy daily or are one of the low-information Americans who vote for the Incompetent-in-Chief. What was it that Trump was quoted as saying by FOX: "I love stupid people."

Ripping up that hateful speech of the Incompetent-in-Chief was a master class of non-violent political protest.

The Canadian Liberal government tabled a national budget with a record $75 billion dollar annual national deficit. It's was heavy on investments on national infrastructure - port expansions, LNG infrastructure, national housing program etc. - to begin moving the country's economy to great diversity of trading partners beyond the USA. That's the level of debt this current Washington regime racks up in three days - three days. MAGA goes into debt to give tax breaks to billionaires. Canada goes into (much smaller) debt to build national infrastructure.

With Mandami's (or as Steve calls him Man-do-me) win in New York I'm thinking that the rent freeze and drop in transit fairs will be the easiest planks of his platform to deliver on (as an unimportant aside it's nice to see a politician elected who can actually do a plank). I think the free childcare is a very big plan and more challenging, with significant costs involved if the staff of those childcare centers are going to be paid decently. The government supported grocery stores (I'm presuming these are in "food desert" neighborhoods that have been abandoned by the big retailers) would be a smaller financial cost but also have innumerable legislative hurdles to figure out (and would RFK the Smaller attempt to intervene?) It's great to see someone campaign and win on increasing taxes on billionaires. There lies hope. Mandami will be faced with the spiteful and vengeful regime in Washington denying funding. Good luck to him, New Yorkers voted Mandami in by a wide margin.

The GOP lost state wide races in Georgia. Lost State Senate seats in Mississippi. Lost State Supreme Court votes in Pennsylvania. Lost 13 (at least at this point) State House seats in Virginia. Lost the races for Governor in New Jersey (by a lot more than expected) and Virginia. JD Vance's brother lost the race for Mayor of Cincinnati. The GOP endorsed candidate lost the race for Mayor of New York. With the Cuomo endorsement by Trump I figure it was the history of sexual harassment that tipped the balance and led to the endorsement embrace.

The Incompetent-in-Chief's politics of fear and hate only work when there is an atmosphere of fear and hate. The anger, the pitting people against each other isn't just an effect of the Incompetent's actions, it's the whole point of his actions.

Which pedophile do you think the Incompetent-in-Chief will pardon next?

The Government of Canada is about to table it's annual budget with an estimated $100 billion dollar debt. A record amount. The USA regime of the Incompetent-in-Chief goes into that much debt every four days.

The MAGA plan for health care ranges from an $11,000 - $24,000 (for a family of four) increase for the same insurance as they currently have. Canada, cost is the same next year - zero $.

It's an overarching explanation that makes sense. Two things we know about this current regime in the White House. 1. It serves the billionaire class. Never have billionaires been more directly involved in directing government actions, or inaction when it comes to consumer protections. Elon Musk at DOGE is just the most obvious example. Dropping government oversight of health and safety regulations. Defunding renewable energy - even though it's a cheaper source of power. 2. Fear. Nothing says MAGA more than fear. Trump loves fear. He campaigns on fear. He rules with fear. He intentionally creates fear. It's the only way his politics sells. With the creation and promotion of fear. Who wins in an economic crisis? The ones who are already winning. It leads to more corporate concentration as the small guys can't weather the storm. Family farms. The USA already has a much smaller share of family farms involved in agriculture than does Canada for example. The tariffs on China that are now resulting in the potential bankrupting of soy bean farmers. Trump doesn't give a shit. If family farms go bankrupt and we have even more corporate concentration in agriculture - that's a win for this regime. Unemployment goes up, wages come down. Bust all the unions, wages go down. Fear, wages go down. The economic collapse by this regime is deliberate.

Wipe your hands before typing. Trump Derangement Syndrome - Pam Bondi looks to be the most effected by TDS at the moment. She'll do anything the Incompetent-in-Chief wants her to do.

Most of the media is owned by right-wing billionaires. Trump's base as it were.

Did you hook up with him on Gindr? Did he make you pay as much as the American people are paying for his groveling to the Incompetent-in-Chief?

ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA—A federal judge dismissed all charges against former FBI Director James Comey on Wednesday after Donald J. Trump’s handpicked US attorney misspelled his name as “Homey.” The attorney, Lindsey Halligan, begged the judge to overlook the error, which she blamed on “frickin’ autocorrect.” “This is the first time I’ve charged someone,” Halligan pleaded. “Indictmenting is hard.” In yet another embarrassing spelling goof, Halligan referred to the attorneys she ordered to charge Comey as his “persecutors.”

The Prime Minister of Canada missed an opportunity to give the Incompetent-in-Chief a Blue Jays jersey while at the White House. I wonder if he did give him a Loonie $1 coin.
