Telephone Pub, Restaurant and Karaoke in Gay Bangkok
TotallyOz replied to TotallyOz's topic in Gay Bangkok
I enjoy this area for the guy watching. There are always tons of cute guys around and I like the waiters as well. I have never been fond of the food here or the one across the street but I don't think people go for the food. Do they?- 8 replies

I have eaten here about 100 times over the years and always enjoyed the meal. Also, the Thai boys I take seem to enjoy the meal. It is a very short walk to all the gay bars and the place is very relaxing and fun. Sometimes you may need a reservation as it has gotten more popular over the year as sometimes tour buses stop by with loads of customers. Overall, it is one of my favorite places to eat in Bangkok.

Sugar bowl is a restaurant you will never forget, You will have an amazing dinner in this small cozy and comfortable restaurant that will make you feel like you are in your own home. You can start your meal with a Lychee Martini or a Cosmo and I'm sure you will be very satisfied with the amount of alcohol that you will have in your drink. After that you can try the Sugar Bowl Calamari appetizer, spaghetti ,Massaman Home Style BBQ Pork Ribs as a main course. Whatever you try your mouth will be enjoying the exotic flavors of the chefs at this restaurant. Please remember to tell us your experiences at this unusual restaurant? Spanish on 4 is the new sister restaurant of the ever popular Tapas Cafe in Sukhumvit Soi 11. Located in lively Silom Soi 4, the new restaurant has a striking black terazzo bar that dominates the downstairs dining room. At the back end of the bar are food displays with some of the days's tapas dishes on display and Spanish cured hams hanging overhead. There are open kitchens both downstairs at the end of the bar and upstairs at the back of the main dining room. We specialize in Spanish tapas - small dishes from Spain for sharing among friends - and pride ourselves on serving food with a very authentic European taste. Tapas is eaten in Spain as a snack to accompany drinks - much like "Kap Klaem" in Thailand. Outside Spain, most tapas restaurants cater for diners who want a wide variety of food to share for their main dinner, or lunch. At Spanish on 4, you are welcome to drop in for a quick snack and a drink, or to join us for a full meal. Tapas Cafe, Bangkok's First Spanish Tapas Bar and Restaurant. It is not a Spanish theme bar, but a modern innovative tapas bar serving both traditional and modern tapas dishes. There are no upturned sherry barrels and no bullfight posters on the walls. The interior is strikingly modern with exposed concrete beams, a light airy feel and comfortable informal furniture. Music is an eclectic mix of Spanish flamenco, Brazilian and Spanish jazz, world music of all types and a huge range of Cuban salsa and timba. Since opening in late 2006, Tapas Cafe is already proving a popular alternative to the more familiar international pubs and restaurants. There has been great feedback on the food and ambience and repeat customers are returning for more! It has already become somewhat of a meeting place for Bangkok’s small Spanish community. The food is the main draw, but the music and availability of Spanish newspapers and magazines is a definite plus. Spanish on 4 78, 80 Silom Soi 4 Bangkok 10500 http://www.spanishon4.com/

The Mango Tree is NOT a gay restaurant but it is a short walk from the gay bars and many gay men go there for a nice dinner. It is down the same soi as Tawan Bar. It is great food at reasonable prices. Mango Tree has served Thai dishes for over Twenty years. With the inspiration and belief that every guest should be treated as if they were coming into your own home. The owner does this with every guest through his passion for photography and a large display of cameras spanning many eras that can be seen as you enter the restaurant. It is like you are entering into his home and he wants to treat you like a special invited house guest. The restaurant building itself is in a Thai-style home from King Rama VI, located in the heart of Silom Road area, with a big mango tree standing in the front yard, from which the name of restaurant originated. The restaurant, decorated with wooden furniture and fresh flowers, gives a cozy atmosphere, like dining at home. The courtyard outside is shady, breezy and pleasant, especially with evening live classical Thai music and beautiful dancing performances. Coffee Society Coffee Society is Thailand's most gay-friendly coffee shop & café in the heart of Bangkok on Silom, open 24 hours a day with free WiFi, and just a very short walk from the Saladaeng BTS Sky Train station. The clientele range from local Thais to tourists from around the world and expats working in Thailand—and many people come from outside the Silom area to enjoy the surroundings of Coffee Society. With Silom Soi 2 (home of DJ Station) and 4 (Balcony, Telephone Bar, Bearbie, Sphinx) nearby, Coffee Society is very popular with the local and international gay community who are very welcome. 12/3 Silom Road | Suriyawong, Bangrak, Bangkok, Thailand http://www.facebook.com/CoffeeSociety http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3xS8kUNtqM

The Bug and Bee is a restaurant located near Sillom 2. It is not exclusively gay but it is very gay friendly as it is so close to the gay scene. As there was very little information on their website, any reviews or comments would be appreciated. http://www.bugandbee.com Address: no. 18 Silom Road

I have never been in love with beachlover. I have always been in love with any posters ability to post on message boards unless rules are broken. Some may disagree with the rules being broken bit. But, I have never seen the need to ban or remove posters from websites. And, that does mean beachlover and LMTU. If I didn't like their posts, I didn't read them. But, I have never seen the point to banning anyone. Sorry, that for you means I am plastic?

He is adorable and my favorite on the show. I also like Tyler.
-
I don't know who you mean, either.
-
Love it. Love it. Love it. And, I also love my football. Roll Tide Roll! But, I'll take any of the guys in the photos above and stay home from the game!
-
Of course you don't. But, I bet you will be one of the first ones to whine like a little girl when he returns. :cray: Sorry, I didn't mean anything by that either. Just a random thought. Very nice pictures, Z.

RA1, I have been in touch with the people that make the forum. I can't do much as they can't see it either. But, if you know how to do a screen capture video and send that to me, I'll get it to them so they can see exactly what they are talking about. Again, I am so sorry this is a pain in the ass for you!

LOL I am pretty fucking liberated. I never said I had an unhappy childhood. I said I was bullied a little BUT and this is a big but, my family and friends stood up for me and fought back when I didn't want to. My childhood was spurts of great fun and joy mixed with feelings that I was missing out on a part of who I was. Dating girls did not feel false at the time. It felt lacking. I still have sex with women on occasion and do not feel that is false either. It is just what I want at the time. My mom did tell her friends. You must have been so sad growing up that it pains you to see someone live a good life and be happy with the decisions they have made and have a family that supports him. I am sorry you did not get to experience this. But, that does not mean that others who had different experiences are false.

hitoallusa, I love your positive attitude. I still disagree. Things that this man does impacts us greatly. There are 2 petitions on moveon.org about this. One was created days ago and is trying to get him fired. The other was was created much more recent and has about the same number of signatures. That tells you where the hearts and minds of the people is his red neck, hillbilly, backward ass, racist town stand! Fuck Bob Grisham and fuck the people that support that asshole. I hope they all rot in hell!

Again, you must be basing this on your own childhood. It was not mine. I did not tell my parents that I was gay until I decided for sure I was gay. I dated women my entire life until the month I "came out." I told my parents and my friends all within a few months of that. My mother was not only fine with it, she went to gay bars with me and the boys in NYC. I did not lead a traditional gay life as I also had lots of boys in and out of my place every day. I threw massive gay parties in NYC and part of a very wild crowd. She knew. She loved all of it. I don't need to think she was happier. I know she was OK with my life and my decisions. And, yes, my family does know I go to Thailand to have sex with money boys. It is and always has been a non issue for them. That is part of what a loving family and honesty in a family is about.

I stay in Thailand a great deal. I am not 50 yet and thus cannot get a Retirement Visa. I have to leave the country every 90 days. I usually go to Cambodia or a neighboring country when I don't want to leave Asia. The Thai Embassy in Cambodia is easy to work with and they once gave out multiple 90 day visas for Thailand.
-
That may be true for YOUR parents. It wasn't for mine.
-
When you poke, he will come. Just don't get all upset when he does!
-
Yes, it does matter to me. I love my family and am VERY family orientated. Their opinion does matter. Luckily, they are OK with my life.
-
Sorry, no, she died 7 years later.
-
I was very out and open to my mother when I came out. I didn't come out until I was 28. She died about 7 years later but she was always supportive, loving and kind. She loved all my boyfriends like they were her own kids and for 7 years they attended every Xmas gathering in Alabama and Tennessee with my family. When my mother found out I was gay she cried. She said that she was upset. My heart dropped. She said she was upset that I had lied to her all these years. I was floored. It was not me being gay that bothered her but the fact that I didn't tell her about my life earlier. To be honest, I wasn't ready to tell her as I didn't tell anyone until a few months before. My sister was the only one that knew for years. She found out as I was a writer in college and had written a short story about two gay lovers. She read it and put two and two together and asked. I told her. She was the only one I told for years. I am glad to have been able to have such a great discussion with her. It was important to her and to me. As she was on her death bed, she held my hand and the hand of my long term companion and told us both she loved us. She didn't say, I love Michael. She said, I love you both so much. Peace.
