Poppers are illegal, but widely advertised online and openly sold in some gay saunas or massages. I don't think the brand makes any difference, the active ingredient is the same. The smell is characteristic. When they degrade (from storage at room temperature), the smell changes and becomes unpleasant. I never bought poppers myself. But some of my sexual partners brought poppers and I had a sniff, but didn't find it any benefit.

When I asked staff on Wed16jul2025, an off fee of 800 was quoted, short time 1500-2000, long time 3000. I don't comment on that. I should have a second wallet with a few 20 notes and pull it out and count and reply "too bad, I don't have that much money with me".

That happened to me as well, but only rarely. I can only assume that they have a booking for customer on an app and are on their way to pick up the customer. Some of them wave their hand at me, indicating that they are not going to stop to take me as a customer. In general, taking taxis works well for me and I rarely have issues.

Online dating can be slow and difficult. I have spent many hours without result, but every now and then you find a gem. Continue and you might get to a point where you can judge from profile and exchanging a few message if it's worth persuing.

When I meet someone for the first time, it's straight to bed. If that goes well, I would go with him again and extend to activities outside of bed. So much can go wrong (the boy not enjoying the activities, having other plans for later, ...).

Currently it's 60 days visa free for most Western countries. However, that can change within a few days. If I had the choice between 35 and 30 days, I would book flights for 30 days so I won't have to do and extension or apply for visa if the visa free stay is reduced to 30 days in the time between booking my flight and arriving in Thailand.

I go to Hua Hin every year for a few days to visit a friend who stays there over winter. There is one or two gay bars and no gay massage that I know of. The bars were not busy every time we went, and usually I left alone. Online dating is slow as well. Sometimes I find someone, sometimes not. For me, both bars and online poor.

I have done all the sightseeing around Siem Reap, but nowadays I stay a few days every time I'm in Cambodia for boy business. I have a few regulars, free and paid, and in my opinion boy business in SR is great!

Thanks for your detailed reply. I correct my statement: for the average tourist, passing through, without local knowledge or acquaintances, there is nothing to gain. There are no gay bars and online dating was disappointing as well. I do my gay activities in places where I don't have to look for gay bars with a magnifying glass and navigate a minefield of cultural and legal differences. From internet: Religion in Kazakhstan Islam (69.3%). A Kazakh lady friend who lives abroad told me that for her, as a women, with Islam the dominant religion, there is very limited chance for professional advancement.

Don't confuse what they ask for and what is actually agreed on . I never pay more than 20 USD on first date, most agree, the other few I let go to try their luck with someone else. It seems upscale hotels have problems with guests. I stay mid class and never a problem. I don't even know what a breakfast buffet. I have the same range of experiences (in all my various trips to Cambodia, most recent Feb2025), but in general I prefer Cambodian boys over Thai. I have more favorites in Cambodia than in Thailand, even though spend more time in Thailand than in Cambodia. For me, Siem Reap is almost as productive for sex as Pattaya, however I get some for free in Siem Reap, which is rare in Pattaya.

No 5 Massage is no more. I asked staff at the restaurant that took over the front (building itself closed) and the staff all went to one of the massages around the corner (Gecko and neighbors).

Why do you think so? I was in Myanmar last month and had a good time visiting their massage places. Telegram and X works better than Grindr to find these places. Curfew 1-3 am is largely irrelevant as there is very little activity outside after nightfall (for electricity outage most areas dark and nothing to do). The news is either outdated or wrong or fake. Visa T on arrival at airport 30 USD, on land borders technically as well, but might require additional payment.

Shuttle bus to airport is 8 USD and takes over 1 hour alone. The bad news is, similar is to be expected for Phnom Penh once the new airport is open. (Not as bad as in Siem Reap 45 km; current airport 11 km to riverside, new airport 25 km.)

This is the upper end of tip range, or even wishful thinking. I have been asked for such amounts (and more), but generally get boys for 20 USD (i.e. I never agreed on more than 20 USD in Cambodia, but tipped some exceptional ones more). General recommendation for Chanak Spa, I was happy with how they run their business (available boys are presented in person behind a glass wall and curtain - shirtless would be nice, but even fully dressed a big step up from choosing from pictures), the massage and the happy ending. Location on google maps is slightly wrong, it's close to the center of street 470 and not at the end, I submitted correction.
