That would work for me. That's what I mean. As for parading the boy around, indeed there is nothing to be gained, the boy will be bored, and buying drinks for him in other bars costs money that is just wasted. Putting the booked boy on stage without number seems the best solution. Nowadays with my bedtime in when in Pattaya rather before 1 am than after 1 am, my offs tend to be earlier. My last off was 20:30, and compared to offing at boy at midnight, I don't have to worry that the boy has his mind more on joining his friends after work and squandering the tip.

Disagree. I think overnight train is great. Admitted, I sleep better in hotel rooms, but for trains you don't have to arrive one or two hours before departure like airplanes, and you don't waste any daytime. I have been once, and find it overpriced (did they raise the price from 400 to 500 or 600 for Foreigners) and even worse full of tourists! Nothing can destroy the beauty of a place like masses of tourists. Overland travel in Lao: I once took the sleeper bus (my only sleeper bus) from Vientiane to Phonsavan. That trip was fine, but all other bus trips in Lao rather boring and not for people who get motion sickness. From Luang Prabang to Chiang Rai was the worst, even I got unwell and had to stop reading (while others were puking right, left and center from motion sickness).

I disapprove of reserving a boy and leaving him on stage (the bar's fault; if the boy gets dressed and waits inside or outside so I clearly see he is not available, that's fine for me). I had two boys in my room in one week on separate days, same aircon, same temperature (27 degree Celsius) and air flow (minimum) setting, and same bedlinen. Absolutely there are! Be glad you don't know and understand them, for me it's a turn off when I hear a boy who is cute swear. The equivalent to "fuck!" would be ไอ้เหี้ย âi hîa or ไอ้สัส âi sàt (correct spelling would be ไอ้สัตว์), as far as I can tell.

Cheap and easily available public transport, or hiring taxi/mocy/whatever at reasonable price as a second choice, is an important factor to me. Poor public transport and high taxi prices is one reasons why I avoid Koh Samui and Phuket. To a lesser extent Chiang Mai as well. On the subject of MBK, some weeks ago I went there to have my mobile phone fixed. There was a contact problem with the micro USB plug, and after trying several cables that all worked on other devices, I assumed the problem is in the phone. So I went there and was quoted a price of 800 Baht, which I accepted. Seems high, and I should have asked at other places to get a better price. Surprisingly, these mobile phone repair shops are mostly staffed by Indians (?) who speak good English.

How do you know I don't exercise? Actually you are right, I don't exercise any more. I used to go running in Lumpini park and swimming in a nearby pool, but mainly as a means to meet boys, which failed. But I still walk a lot, on an average day out between 10 and 20 km. Do you have details how much exactly the Chinese are ripped off? All bars should have a menu, and when going to some place where I don't remember the drink prices from my last visit, I ask to see the menu. No clear pricing, or someone typing a price in a pocket calculator, is a sure sign you are being scammed or overcharged.

I am surprised about the high number of African boys you report. I would be interested, but I only ever met one in Bangkok who wanted 1500 and did not accept 1000 for short time, and now is gone; and there is one couple (brothers/cousins?) changing between Bangkok and Pattaya (have seen them several times over the years), and the one or other (maybe 3 over the years) on the apps, but none of them my specifications.
