August 25, 201610 yr Hi does anyone know of any hotels where I don't have to walk past a receptionist every time I take a guy back? Like private rooms. If there's one thing which has been slightly annoying me it's having to listen to the receptionist comment or joke when I bring a guy back. I'd rather have a hotel where I can just go to my room with a guy without having to have this conversation lol. Looking for places in Bangkok and pattaya. Thanks

August 25, 201610 yr There are a ton of places ..all over Pattaya.... But remember most if not all Hotel or guesthouses have CCTV anyway so they can see what yiu have been up to during the night. Air.bnb maybe your best bet for a private place.

In fact in all those years I had only once comment about my boy companion and it was compliment by a lady tourist at XBOYS , soi Twilight, who said something like ' I like your friend"

August 25, 201610 yr I stayed at Ambiance in Patt and Tarntawan in BKK and had none of that. Both are fantastic. They check and take the ids of the bois. And will only release it after they call and ask you if everything is okay. Fantastic system.

I think lots of hotels are using that system, at least from my personal experience I can add Le Cafe Royale, Malaysia Hotel, even BBB Inn and Raya although at last two it was inconsistent seemed to depend of who is on reception. My guess is my reputation was already close to the floor in eyes of those who did not check. I need to add that generally I'm escorting my boys down to the street and only time I don't is when I was not happy with them. From popular places Nantra Silom seems do not care at all about visitors and their ID
August 25, 201610 yr Rudely snapping obscenities at hotel staff isn't sound advice in my opinion. They can make your stay much more pleasant or much more difficult. Your air con needs looking at... tough shit. Need a late check out... go to hell. Laundry by 2 pm the next day... ooops sorry it's late. Extra pillows... sorry we are out. Never fuck with people who can make your stay more comfortable or handle your food.

Why get uptight about it? In Thailand whether something is said or not the only one you are fooling if you think that your antics will go unnoticed is yourself.
August 25, 201610 yr This is probably 5 years old, so could be outdated. Nonetheless, Baan Dok Mai had this. Then if you start walking down Soi Bukhao from 2nd road, there will be that Fresh Mart on your right hand side. Just past that is a Swedish restaurant, and just before (or is it past?) the restaurant is a small hotel. I thnk the same starts with a "D". Rooms where only about 600 baht/night, on the old side, but very large and comfortale. You just get a key chain with reader in it, and at night wave it at the door to open. I think the lady runnig the place usually turned in around 7pm. I'm wih you though, and don't like reception. Doesn't matter if I'm on a gay sex tourist holiday, or a business trip to Toronto, I just don't like people watching me as I come and go, peek their heads up to try and see what's in my bags that I bought, or give my room a call to let me know the pizza I ordered has arrived and should be at my door momentarily, etc. I just don't know, just don't like it.

Some straight people have told me about a variation of the same kind of attitude as you do. When they bring in a little creature from a beer bar etc., and go from the front entrance of the hotel to get to their room, they call it: "the walk of shame".

Alas the above description can only come into play in YOU allow it to and if YOU consider either being gay or having sex with other gay guys of a legal age with you to be something shameful. I don't and so I don't give a flying FUCK what anyone else thinks about me or my sex life. What they think is quite frankly none of MY business, just like who I'm fucking is none of theirs. "Shame" is rife in older gay guys ( I include myself in that bracket by the way) as due to perhaps our more repressed upbringings, previous legal issues just with being gay and the worlds overall view of gay people 20 or 30 years ago, but it's something that we should actively work at overcoming as that "shame" IS only something that exists in our own minds if we allow it too. Personally I've worked hard at changing my OWN mindset re all of that over the years and thankfully now have ( quite rightly) absolutely zero "shame" about being who and what I am and if straight people don't like that then that's just tough for them I guess, but I don't care. So, book you're room and smile and say Sawatdee Khrap with confidence as you walk past your receptionist and Im fairly sure they'll say it back - and if not, then tough - who cares whatever small minded shit it going on in their heads - not my business.

August 25, 201610 yr Grow some balls. Only the dodgiest places won't have a reception. I stay at gay hotels to avoid straight tourists although the gay staff at such hotels are always on your side.
August 25, 201610 yr I count my blessings as all the above is pure theory for me. Only case I can classify as problems with reception is old story / 2002 or 2003 / from Niagara hotel in soi 9. After boy left in the early morning and was trying to retrieve his ID from reception they demanded tip or so I was told next day. It's why ever since I escort my men to the street, just in case.

August 26, 201610 yr Stay in a gay oriented hotel especially if, like me, you bring back twinks. Nasty comments in non-gay places can come from drunken groups of men and their girlfriends in the lobby or lift. In hotels like the Ambiance around midnight there are likely to be other tourists arriving with boys who hand in their IDs . This is important to avoid under age and for security. In January I stayed at the Colonial in Sunee for a few days and I missed the reception ID check.
August 26, 201610 yr Agree that ID check with hotel reception is a great safety feature, both for age reassurance and overall safety. For someone looking for good accommodations that do not have reception, Mosaik may be a good choice. They have "security" that hangs around the front at night, but no true reception desk. More like a serviced apartment than a hotel. Good standards and great location, but beds can be hard.
