A buddy of mine asked me to check on this for him.

 

His company is sending him to either Phonom Phen or Ho Chi Minh City - his choice of city. I have not been to either city and can only relate information from this and other sites.

 

After work he is interested in going to massage places, host bars and other places where he can easily hook up with the guys. He is NOT INTERESTED IN SIGHT SEEING NOR ANYTHING ELSE - to each his own. Since I have not been to either city, I decided to ask for information from others who have been to one city or the other if not both.

 

He wants to know which of the two cities would be the easiest for meeting the guys, without much hassle and disappointment, and the easiest for getting around to the various massage venues etc. He is a bottom who loves to kiss and cuddle, and he prefers masculine men.

 

So, what do you think, which city should he visit and why? Again, he can only go to one of the two cities previously mentioned, not both.

HCMC has a population of 8.2 million people

PP has a population of 1.5 million people

 

So based on population alone it seems HCMC would be a better bet

 

On the other hand there are host bars in PP and the bars/clubs open later. The gay apps seem as busy in both cities.

 

My feeling is that the Khmer's are less commercial than the Vietnamese and he is more likely to get the BFE (boyfriend experience) in PP

Having visited both -1 and 2 yrs ago, certainly I can confirm HCMC wins hands down on total and quality-for a visiting farang.

However, PnPn gains a little reading the specific requests. And alas, VN scores quite high on the ''nuisance''factor (deceit, cheating, not honoring offers etc. If that friend is Thai-has he ever been out of TH? Does he also suffer from that prejudice so many Thai seem to have agianst the Khmer?

Ho Chi Minh City(Saigon) is far less interesting than Hanoi, P.P. is a livable city and has a small thrieving gay scene.

Based on my experiences, if meeting guys is his only criteria, it has to be Phnom Penh.

Never been to PP but lived in ho chi minh for 1 year, never really explore the dating/massage scene though, mostly coz the boy there is not to my liking, but the gay scene there is quite happening and i could imagine the living standards is also higher in ho chi minh. again, havent been to PP but i dont mind staying there for a long period of time

Having been to both, I would revisit PP and would never return to VN. I loved the Cambodian folks and had nothing but problems with the folks in VN.  I had never had anything near the level of dishonesty in Thailand that I encountered in VN.

 

Although it was back a few years, there were no places in Cambodia like you find in Thailand. From my reading, it appears there are more massage places around now than I was able to find when I visited.

Gay scenes are comparable, but more venues in Saigon.

 

I don't like the traffic (cars, only 3 ? bus lines) in PP. Saigon has an ample bus network and underground under construction. In PP, he will need own car or mocy or rely on taxis.

 

Vietnamese boys are too pale for my taste, so PP wins for me for boys. But in general quality of living Saigon wins.

more then one statistic sample it's base for hypothesis so he could form credible opinion based in few visits.

 

Not to mention our forum has way of bending those rules, we have members extensively commenting on say, Tawan bar and it's boys while at the same breath admitting they never set foot inside.

I have to agree that vietnamese are very money oriented, and many case of trying to con tourist. Viet boy in other countries also seems to behave the same. Not just the masseur and money boy, even their working class behave similarly. Alot of backstabing office politics makes me feel like highschool all over again. Go where ever they pay more and then you can fly around and fuck all the ass you want. I haven't hung around very long in VN but the scene in PP pretty much sucks. That being said VN boys in Thailand are notorious for being mercenary. Pick your poison.
