Dongtan Beach - before & after.

Featured Replies

The authorities have completely lost the plot. They are ruining the beach area.

sad to see this happen.Really trying to kill off tourism.

This is so hard to believe!!  I was just there in March and really enjoyed walking along the curved colored stone path under the palm trees in back of the beach chairs. It seems like a sick joke to have us walk out in the sun on a wide open characterless walkway!!??

Wow! The new beach rendering looks great.

I visited two weeks ago and the noise from the tree removal and the trucks coming and going was enough to drive me away.  As the old growth trees were cut up, trucks with palm trees for planting were arriving.  I gave up on beach time and went for a Thai massage at the blind Institute.

I'm inclined to say TIT but somehow that falls short.  There must be a lucrative business in destroying what nature has bestowed.

Am I missing something here?

The first photo shows an uncovered walkway along the beach. The second photo shows the walkway now protected from the sun by some beautiful palm trees,

Are some people saying they prefer the first picture??

The topic is really the gay beach, one should consider the beach not what it was years back but as it is now......No boys work the beach anymore and 4 or 5 old fat falangs getting a rubdown does not a gay beach make!

An update on the Dongtan Beach "improvements"

First photo taken on Sunday 24 September just past

the first toilet block (which remains closed)

The second photo taken last year from a similar position

I personally do not regard the change as an improvement.

I have no idea why the first photo has ended up sideways?

I agree, the "after" photo looks horrible, and not because it is sideways.

What in heavens did they have in mind?

Maybe, hopefully, they are planning to replace those lovely palm trees they seemed to have removed with nice new ones in each of those holes on the ocean side of the new walkway!?

They turn a lovely spacious beach to a narrow ugly one same as the beaches at central Pattaya.

 hopefully not,

Dongtan Beach is also left in a filthy state on the days when the Deck Chair concessionaires are not allowed on the beach. Ironic really as the original Wednesday closing was labelled as a clean up day.
