Using neck girth is a better guide for pic-to-pic comparison. Also, the slimmer one is at baseline, or the further from maximum longterm mass potential, the greater initial mass gain is possible over a short period. This is sometimes referred to as regression to the mean, or an early attenuation in the law of diminishing returns effect. Same idea often applies to planful weight loss. A few days following the second image, based on rehydration and letting up on the photo-opp transformation agenda, I would say he may look slightly bigger and somewhat more defined than baseline. Ha ... a photo is always a misrepresentation, whether altered thru mechanical means or not. Some of the thousand words it says, in a phrase, is it does not really render the subject in real life. I recently engaged with a stripper who blows me away in person, but is simply not photogenic. A very professional highly regarded photographer did a little better than selfie mode, but I would not hire the stripper based on photos. The camera simply does not assemble him the way my quirky human vision does.
