I thought that this sauna had not survived to covid but it did. The rent in the former building rua Otono was not extended and since many years New Meio Mundo is only in the part of the building overlooking Rua 1 de Março.

I never liked Meio Mundo because I always found the rooms, the showers, ... to be dirty. In addition, boys were of the twinkish type and I prefer more muscular guys.

A friend told me recently that it was still open. I checked the website and found that they have sexo ao vivo (live sex) shows every Tuesday at 9 pm. So I decided to go to 117 first and then to head towards NMM around 8.30 pm.

There were surpringly many people in the bulding. Many boys also. Not as many as in 117 or Pointe but maybe 20 boys, many of them twinkish. The room for the show is rather small and you are really close to the scene. All tables are less than 10 or 12 meters to the stage. Some of the boys doing the show are preparing themselves and wanking in public in the showroom. Some prepare themselves in the back stage and it seems that from 8 pm on, you can be invited behind the curtain to see this preparation ...

At 9 pm sharp, boys come on stage. Yesterday, they were 4 : 2 tops and 2 bottoms. One of the bottom was a twink with a really nice face. Tops were big boys with rather big dicks. All 4 boys start kissing and sucking on stage. Plenty of tongue kissing. Then 2 couples start fucking on stage and the bottoms go from one top to the other. Extremely hot. They do not only fuck on stage, they also come in the room to fuck in front of customers. There is a religious silence during the shows and the animator, Penelope, makes sure that no one laughs or shouts. Show lasts 15 to 20 minutes. Very good. There is no happy ending. At least, there was none yesterday. 

After the show, the boys come with a basket to get tips.

The show has been running since many weeks and it seems that the performers arr not always the same. Worth discovering for the ones who like this type of show ...

ANY more muscular types at Meio Mundo? I've only been there once, about 8 years ago. My fond memories are of the most stacked bodybuilder I'd ever had (said he was a Mr. Rio) and the most delicious blondish twink I'd ever eaten. Plus the hottest CLIENT I've seen in a sauna but he declined my invitation to join me in a cabin with my twink. The house was a rambling structure on 3-4 levels and several wings. Good times.

There have been a few Mr. Rio champions who have worked at the saunas. But if it was about that time period, it was probably Henrique — who can still be found sometimes at Lagoa in São Paulo or Thermas in Barcelona. Hell almost never do the Rio scene anymore.

I never saw the Mr. Rio again anywhere. He turned out to be kind of sweet but he struck me first as not the brightest.

I just came back from Rio a few weeks ago. New Meio Mundo is basically one-half of the rambling old Meio Mundo. Very cramped, mobility-challenged facility, only one poorly-placed shower, but the lockers are better. The talent is so-so. There were one or two I could have done when I was less of a gourmet as to such things but I left quickly for hopefully better hunting in the zona sul. 

In relation to Meio Mundo: the guys in the other saunas comment that some clients have suffered robberies when leaving the sauna, due to the insecurity of the area. But I think there are reasons to doubt, as there are always cabs at the door to go home... Of course, I have not gone back there, as I live near Point and the offer of the place is very good.

(Junior made an attempt to open the sauna on Tuesday, with free buffet and free admission. It didn't work out, so the sauna is still closed on Sundays and Tuesdays. The big day is Wednesday).

Tuesday is the most popular day at 117 and it might be difficult to change habits of customers and garotos.

I agree. If you do one trick at 117 or one trick at 202, that recent attempt saves you a few pennies more at 202 assuming you pay for the 202 room. If more than one trick either location, diminishing returns on savings; no real difference but likely more choice, along with more 117 room acquisition hassle at times mind you. Junior would need to push much further uphill to compete with rigidified long-standing tradition.

What shit rooms, even on free nights. would be cheaper/better  to keep a room at Atlantico as a backup if you weren't staying there.

definitely prefer Pointe - it was my first Brazilian sauna ever.  I just feel more comfortable there and know the layout.  117 has always been too crowded for my taste & waiting for a room is the worst - i get the 117 attraction for those that like the Adonis types. There used to be another garoto sauna in Copacabana, a couple blocks away from Pointe towards the beach…don’t remember the name and it wasn’t there long.  I’ll bet someone remembers it ??

Then there was Estacao, Junior's 1st sauna on R. Tonelero ....was like the training school for guys to go to pointe after he opened pointe. I was there for pointe's opening night along with a few other guys that I had met from the board.

Rogers was the one I’m thinking of for sure. Vaguely remember Estacao.  Sure was convenient.  I remember not being able to take my eyes off Junior.   Thanks for the link - good times & great memories.  !  I was making multiple trips each year to Brazil those days from California. Always had to do a quick transfer in SP then.  The only things I could muster in Portuguese was please/thank you, how much and take me to Rua Tonerlero/Siqueira Campos !

Roger's was my first everything. I think I went to Estacao but vaguely recall it being in the zona norte. Anyone remember a sauna in the Maracana area? Was 202 called something else briefly? That's it for the Rio sauna de programa trivia.

In my coming trip I have the intention (can you feel my low commitment?) to leave the beaches hoods and explore more Centro, LAPA, Santa Teresa, etc. I noticed New Meio Mundo is in that area, I may use as final stop after one of my walkings. It looks like Mondays and Fridays are the popular days, I will plan accordingly.

My first couple of visits to Rio I stayed at Hotel Atlantico Copacabana and Estacao was the first sauna with GP I frequented; a short walk from the hotel.  My memory may be tricking me, but I believe I and a friend of mine met you, Floridarob, at that sauna - the last night of that first visit.  I was in Rio when Pointe opened, didn't like the place and have never been back.  I'm recalling that Rogers was still open when I first visited, an thought it was just ok.

Rogers, reopened during the Pointe opening days and wasn't very good.....prior to that ,was the only game in that part of town.

I liked Pointe well enough, met a bf there that we were together for about 8 yrs or so.....he killed himself a couple of yrs after we broke up.....but those were demons he fought for a long time, not drug related, depression....sad

The place in the zona norte was called Sp73 or Spa73 or something like that. Anyone remember?

You mean Estação, in Rua Tonelero. I keep good memories of that sauna...
