I stiil wear a mask here in Western Australia when on public transport or if going into crowded places like shopping centres and I will no doubt wear a mask in Thailand when I go if mandated or not, the risk for me will be restaurants, bars and massage places. My reasoning is simple, underlying health conditions, even a common cold can be bad news for me. If others choose to wear one or not is up to them. 

Thais wear masks so, for me, it's a case of "when in Rome do as the Romans do". I do however draw the line when I am exercising in our semi rural area and when I'm alone driving the car. In that same area I do see the majority of motorcyclists fully masked up.... but not weating a helmet. TiT.

Thais wore masks on buses doing the Jomtien trip when I was in  in Pattaya  a few weeks ago. Occasionally, one or two passengers of the twelve didn't, invariably falang.

I thought it showed disrespect to our hosts.

No, they don't. 
They only put the mask on when they leave with a farang. It's a good disguise. 

Had a sinus infection on the way in to Thailand.

Got a crazy idea to wash out my nostrils with disinfectant soap in the Thai shower in the hotel.

So I had one helluva infection (shower water) three days later on my flight out.

Had to wear a mask so no one would see my nasal drainage on the plane before the Benadryl kicked in and dried me out

(and put me to sleep)

An item on Thiger referred to a Thai nose spray, newly available, which claimed to offer some protection against Covid. Has anyone come across this?

Thais are still wearing masks inside buildings and some also outside.

Foreigners outside rarely wear masks..

Hardly see anyone wearing them in entertainment venues or restaurants.

On public transit and taxis, it is expected that everyone will wear them. 

I try to copy what Thais do inside buildings and on transit, but not outside.

We must inhabit different locations.  I see A FEW farang without masks, only those who think they are V.I.P.s of some sort.

I inhabit Silom area. I rarely see westerners with masks outdoors. In stores, markets and transportation, generally yes. In restaurants and bars, no.

In Pattaya, fewer and fewer people, both Thai and Farang are wearing masks, even on the Baht Busses.

I did morning walk around Silom and must say almost everybody, like 85-90% wears, the mask but not me other than some indoors and BTS

I don't know about farang, but in my area along with everywhere else I've been, nearly all the Thais are still wearing masks.  So am I, especially since now this new BQ.1 Omicron variant has made its way into Thailand.  Only a couple cases so far, but we've all seen how that goes.  Don't be surprised if a new mask mandate is imposed if it starts spreading.

I don't have a problem about wearing the mask, so I'm going to wear it until the vast majority of Thais stop wearing it.  Until that day comes, my mask stays on.
