I'm genuinely surprised to hear people say Japan is expensive.
Maybe their exchange rate is poor.
Maybe they are staying in western hotel chains like the Hyatt or the Marriott.
Maybe they are shopping in Ginza.
They are definitely not eating at Izakaya pubs, or at chain restaurants like Sushiro, Kura sushi, Hama, etc.
They don't just serve sushi - most of which I don't eat - but also lots of meat, noodles, western desserts, etc. Also, they have innovative types of 'sushi' like roast beef, chicken and corn, mini hamburger sushi, etc.
A large beer is around  450 yen (100 baht), a plate of food with 2 items is 120 yen (25 baht as opposed to  166 baht in Perth!)
I'd love to know what people find expensive in Japan!

Oh no. Please think this out VERY carefully. You've only been in Thailand a few days and thus far have had limited interactions with prostitutes (most of whom aren't even Thai these days) and stayed in the red light district of Bangkok. You don't know the food, the language, the culture and eat at McDonald's. It took me years to learn the language, not only to understand, but also appreciate the culture and I live an hour's drive from the nearest Thai border!  You've been in a soap bubble of debauchery and soap bubbles tend to burst very quickly. 

I've spent quite a bit of time in Super A over the years.
There used to be an upstairs section where you could choose a guy to sit with you and spend the evening enjoying a mutual groping session.
I stopped going there when a mamasan brought someone inappropriate into the bar.
I was usually the only customer. Often the mamasan, who sat outside at the top of the soi sharing customers, would rush in and yell at the guys to get up on stage. But usually the farang would put their heads in the door, take a quick look and not bother.
One evening there was a guy working there will was totally naked. I asked the mamasan what was going on, and she said he had forgotten to bring his work shorts so as punishment he had to remain naked all night.
I didn't mind at all! I got him to sit with me. And he didn't mind, either, as he was obviously totally spaced out on drugs.
The guys working in Super A, Golden Cock and Nature Boy knew each other and everyone's business, too. There were no secrets. 
So imagine my shock and horror when some of the guys told me that 2 guys at Super A had tested positive for HIV!!! The bar simply kept quiet about it and they continued to work there. 
I went to the bar once or twice after that. I knew the names of the guys so kept well away from them, but then decided that I could no longer support the bar because of their unconscionable behaviour.
I last dropped by 2 years ago during Songkran, just for old time's sake. I had a quick drink but didn't see anyone who appealed to me and the ladyboy mamasan was a real pain in the arse, as usual.
Having been brought up in Japan, where total unadulterated sleaze is the name of the game, that area of Silom was my favourite.
A lot of guys there were a real handful! 🤣🤣🤣

Another place we loved is one that he discovered. I told him how Italian is my favorite so he sought this place and took me to lunch yesterday here.  Scarletta is near the Chong Nonsi BTS stop. So good. And a cute date spot. 

Monday night update...
Progress. I didn't sleep through club time.  But I'm home before midnight.  Hit up several of the bars I hadn't ventured into yet.  I'm going to grade on a scale tonight because listen it's Monday night. I don't expect anyplace to be poppin' on a Monday night.

Started the night here because it's not even 2 blocks from my Airbnb.  Was in and out in about 16.4 seconds.  2 guys I'd swipe left on were occupying what felt like a hallway to nothing.  My expectations were low and they were met.
Super A
I don't remember reading anything about this place.  Saw 2 cute guys at a 7 Eleven who looked like workers on a break so I followed behind about 40 feet (yep, I'm a creeper) and saw them go in this place.  Didn't know if it was a bar, massage spot... but what the hell.  Seemed to be a hybrid.  One of those super awkward moments when you walk in and realize you're the only customer so they make all the guys line up and they all stare at you. I asked what I assume was the mamas to let them be "at ease."  There were about 8 guys... many decent looking.  One smokin' hot muscle boy that might get some business from me before the week is over. Realize when I say muscle... I'm not talking about a bodybuilder. I'm a twink guy.  This was a twink with a gym membership.  Just had my initial drink and made my way to the next block.

At long last, I finally made it in.  Again I'm going to try to be kind given it was a Monday night, but the lineup was meh at best.  One of the guys looked like Pedro from Napoleon Dynamite.  Just awkward emotionless standing on stage.  The show looked like it could have passed for The Gong Show.  Unfortunately no gong in site.  I liked the layout of the place.  But yeah the energy wasn't there and the presentation did nothing to get my juices flowing enough to warrant an off. I did like the lack of drag.  And nobody was smoking - don't know if it's prohibited or not.

Havne't popped into Jupiter yet.  Briefly stuck my head in Banana but when all I saw was a drag queen on stage, I moved on.

The root cause for this type of behavior can be because the papasan/mamasan:
provided a loan or advance on salary to said guy and wants it paid back and pushes the guy to make the deal/sale, controls the guys contract and/or documents to live/work/exist in said bar and wants the guy to make the deal/sale, needs money and is going to get a commission on the deal/sale for services rendered, or what happened to me 1 time at X-Boys Pattaya - the head papasan urgently sat next to me AFTER I had arranged an off of one of their lead star guys (he was 50% Thai and 50% French and super sexy - as I often like mixed race Thais more than 100% Thai guys) and negotiated with me to relinquish the off because one of their superstar rich clients from China wanted the same guy that I was offing.  I was ok with it because sex for me is best done between 9am and 9pm - as all of my systems tend to function at their maximum during these operating hours.  So, I arranged with the head papasan that the guy would visit me in the late afternoon on the following day in my condo and I did not need to pay the off fee - as I was doing the bar a favor.  Win-win for everyone, me, bar, rich Chinese prime customer, and the guy who is being offed - 2 sales in 1 go. When you get to know the guys at various bars it is truly amazing what you can discover about the relationship between the guys and their employer (bar) and intermediary (mamasan/papasan).

BEST: Dream Boy
It's not even close.  It's all about presentation. The quality of the guys, club, sound system, stage, everything from the venue I had been in the previous hour was VERY different.  (Skip to #3 if you wanna know.) The seats were more comfortable.  There wasn't too much drag show time (why is that a thing?) and effort was made on costumes and choreography but honestly, don't we just want to see hot guys?  As I walked in, most of the boys were on their phones in the lobby.  It's an odd business model to me but I'm sure there's logic behind it.  I liked that it was a no-smoking venue.  Smoking isn't a deal breaker for me, but clean air is much preferred.  There was quite a range of dancers. A few muscles, lots of Twinks and everything in between even an older guy for those I guess into that.  My favorite stage performance was when they just had six of the numbered guys dancing. I wish these bars did more of that. Let's skip the drag. Let's skip the not so aesthetically pleasing non- umber wearing guys doing routines.  After the lineup does their shuffle on stage send them in groups in six to dance.  Doesn't have to be choreographed.  There was one guy who I didn't really even notice during the group stage walk around.  When I saw him dancing in that group of six, he stood out and all of a sudden had my attention. His moves were sexy af. But yeah, dream boy makes these guys look like stars.  By far, it was the best experience so far in the go-go bars.
RUNNER UP: Fresh Boy
I already did my write up earlier in this thread, but I liked the energy of this place. It's not as big as dream boy but there was enough eye candy to keep me happy. 
WORST: Good Boy
Holy crap was this place terrible. From the moment I walked in it was disaster. There were only a couple clients and the desperation in the eyes of the boys on stage was so uncomfortable. The staring they did at seeing a new Customer walk-in was so eerie. The guy who I'm assuming was the Mamasan was instantly trying to get me to pick a guy. None of them really stood out to me as special.  All of them looked absolutely miserable to be there.  There were way too many drag performances.  The constant pressure to pick a guy or tip was just obnoxious.  I tipped one guy simply because he smiled while the others were so miserable.  None of the routines were in any way exciting sexually or just for entertainment value.  My favorite chuckle I got was between performance as they put an image on the screen behind, and they clearly stole an image from Google images because the photo had a watermark that said iStock on it. I'm not claustrophobic, but it just seems so cramped yet there was no one there.  I really felt bad for the dancers.

Proper Thai  massage is very good, if you can stand the pain! I used to indulge, in the old days, when they wrapped your legs round your neck etc! It was sort of relaxing. However, in my declining years, I'm just too stiff!

Welcome to the club. I would always get a legitimate massage once in a while, more so when in thailand. And you will never know, you might be lucky and hit the jackpot, finding a gem there, who is your type, can deliver great massage and also lite fun. 

Other random first impressions...
- Wow there really are that many 7 Elevens.
- Didn't need bug spray today.  
- Was that a rat or a cat?  Sounds like a Dr Seuss line but holy f the rats here are enormous.
- Grindr options for an old fart like me are amazing... but I'm sure many are eventual Money Boys.

The first 24 hours have gone by and this city has not disappointed. As expected, I made all of these plans and did all this research and then just ended up improvising on my first night. This experience is so overwhelming. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna be living here within a year.
I arrived at midnight and hastily made my way to immigration to try not to get in the back of the line. It didn't matter much. The line was about 15 minutes at the most. After two days of trying to sleep on airplanes and getting maybe two hours combined in 10 minute increments, I got into my Airbnb at 2 AM. I was so wired and excited I still ended up taking a walk around the neighborhood. I knew I would feel safe and I did even at 4 AM in the middle of the week. There were street markets at that hour... that blew me away.
I walked around this afternoon and got introduced to the massage scene. After doing a few laps around Si Lom, I ended up at 19 massage. Kit was my choice. Excellent massage the extras were OK. I'm a pretty easy customer in that. I don't go the full way with escorts or the like. Room charge was 700. I tipped him 1000 which probably was excessive. I have an appointment tomorrow at Ssence with Kairo. 
I was so mesmerized walking around tonight that I almost didn't even go to a go-go bar. A couple weeks ago a few of you got on my case that I was over planning and singling out whatever bar would be my best bet for the first night. As I imagined I would, I ended up not even making it to the one I planned. I think fresh boy was the one I ended up at.  The stage shows were much more involved than I thought they would be. I guess I'm used to American strip clubs where they just shuffle from 1 foot to the other.  Between the choreography and playfulness on stage, I was pretty impressed.  
After reading about all these meals at Foodland, you guys have had I think my expectations I might've been a little high lol. I didn't have a meal though so I can't judge. But I popped in a couple times.  I haven't done anything touristy yet got plenty of time to do that.  If anyone's in town hit me up!

Just a tip to those that are looking at pictures from the Line account of Jey. You will see the designations GV, MT, GT, MV. They stand for Gay Versatile, Man Top, Gay Top and Male Versatile. Jey Spa owner keeps quality control so there is less of a chance of a hit and miss compared to say the Saphan Khwai shops.

I have had one distinctly average experience at Jey, the others fabulous. None bad.

You will find that they have some staff overlap with Glam’s.

Yes, this is true. One of the things I liked about Jey Spa is that each massuer has already indicated their minimum tip upfront (usually in their poster) and the Line manager will also give you a breakdown of the total cost upfront before confirming your appointment.
Not sure if he would give BJ but to be fair to him, he did try to give a HJ towards the end but it felt awkward, so I just jerked off myself. That's why I assumed it was a lack of chemistry thing (maybe I was just not his type lol). I was hoping there would be more foreplay etc.
