São Paulo/Rio Feb 2025

I inadvertently booked a trip to Rio just in time for Rio Pride. I knew about some winter pride events, such as those in the Canary Islands, but I wasn’t expecting Rio Pride in November. 5. It was difficult to find a hotel for the previous week. I hope it will be like the São Paulo Pride, which attracts many GPs from other cities. Since it is late spring, I am hoping for nice weather. I need to spend some time on the beach, so I will visit various beaches. I was thinking of visiting some other cities. I haven't been very good at reporting recently – I've been lazy/busy – so I don't know if I should use this thread to report or open a new one called 'November Rio Pride'. 😛

November in Rio is amazing. It is not too hot at all, and sometimes the locals would say it is cold. I used to visit during the US Thanksgiving holiday.

Awesome. I would like to check some places that I couldn’t go last time.

it has been discussed the Bangu sauna but is R. Boate Casa Grande and TapaNaCara the same place? Or close one from another?

Also, I’m checking Garotolocal, but it’s exhausting. I wish I could filter the results. I’ve even started from the last post, going all the way to the end and after pages and pages, but it doesn’t seem promising or . Let’s see what else if I can find anything

I have not yet visited Tapa Na Cara, but there you have my report on Casa Grande in case you did not see it before.

Not everyone agrees with this, but I would not waste my time looking for garotos online when you have Brazilians saunas' unique experience to provide you with tons of the commodity you are looking for.

100%

Can't beat the in person experience to hear/watch/smell how they look/act/smell/walk.... a pic or video doesn't do the same justice.

What has been referred here as Bangu sauna is Casa Grande, Tapa na Cara is a different place, not that close to each other.

That TapaNaCara place looks wild! (Check out some of the pictures; it sounds so delicious.) I’m definitely going to try it someday, perhaps with one of my regulars or someone else who speaks Portuguese. It's tempting—it seems to match the description of CasaGrande, which is why I asked.

I doubt I’ll have time since it's so far away, but I’ve been working on my schedule for Rio. Yeah, I’m that person who makes a calendar schedule, complete with pictures, maps, and hours.  including restaurants and areas to visit, I even have an offline version saved on my Brazil mobile  I agree with @Latbear4blk I prefer meeting guys face to face at the saunas — that way, there are no surprises. Honestly, in Garotolândia/gartotolocal, there are so many flaky guys. You end up spending more time scrolling and messaging than actually meeting anyone.
I haven’t really tried those more fringe sites like Sokka or VivaLocal. This question is mostly just me thinking out loud, but ultimately, I tend to stick to what’s easy and accessible. On my Brazil last visit, I actually met  a couple of guys from Garotolândia/Garotolocal and even saw another one from RentMen at the Lagoa. Perhaps it was because it was SP Pride, but sometimes, these encounters feel like they’re destined to happen. one from RentMen at the  Lagoa, maybe because it was SP Pride— so sometimes, it all comes full circle.

I hope the Dedalos in Rio is already open for a visit. I would definitely go to Taurus since it was a lot of fun last time. And I will keep trying to visit one of these places:

  • ShowBar or SHOWBAR MADUREIRA
  • chuppsclub.
  • Kabalksauna

I’ve been trying to find Showbar for a while now, but unfortunately, it’s not there when I go to the address. I’m looking forward to the day when I finally find it. Last two times I tried to find it, I couldn’t. I ended up heading back toward the main area. It’s still within Rio de Janeiro, but in a more remote part of the city.

One thing I’ve noticed in Brazil is that some addresses are confusing when they’re located at intersections or in triangle-shaped areas between streets. Sometimes, the actual entrance is on the opposite side of where the map directs you. The same thing happened with Restaurant 7, which has more than one location. Since it was daytime, I was able to walk around and eventually found it on the other side of the block from the marked address. I even bought some small souvenirs there to support the local businesses.

I used to go to Rio in November - good weather usually, spring is in the air, and all that lol.

That said, a couple of years back I found myself in Rio on the day of the Rio pride. It was interesting, but nothing on the SP scale. Still, it was good to see - but I think they didn't even block the traffic fully, and it was more of a chamber event than a stadium concert)

The gay bloco party on Ipanema happening twice - once two weeks before the carnival, and one during it - "Simpatia é quase amor" - is much much better attended, and actually really awesome and totally recommended. It normally draws about 100,000 people partying all throughout Ipanema

Thanks, I’m looking forward to it. In my case, I didn’t even know the pride for Rio was in November. I just happened to choose that week. It makes sense that it’s not a huge event since they might already be preparing for the carnival. I’ve always wanted to go, but I’m not a fan of huge crowds. SP Pride was big, but mostly Frei Caneca/Paulista Ave, and not the magnitude of the Rio carnival.

It's SPRING in Rio during November and SUMMER in December.  In response to your question, I'd advise as well as appreciate your writing a separate post: "Rio Pride in November 2025"

I can tell you aren't into kissing. To me, the best part is to try how they taste.

ALL of the men who I have kissed in Brazil were SUPER-SUPERB kissers.  I loved it and still reminisce when my mind (inadvertently) reminisces about the great times (culturally as well as sexually) that I experienced during my almost a decade in traveling to "Mother Brasil."

Showbar is at Carvalho de Souza 278F, equidistant from two very close Madureira stations on different Supervia lines that fan out westerly but converge at Central Station easterly. You need to nose around at the building complex to discover what would be Unit or Loja F as there is no apparently overt signage.
