ImpCaes Posted July 28, 2025 Posted July 28, 2025 Hi all. New member and first post here. I’m a frequent traveler, often in search of fun via Grindr or in saunas. I’m curious to hear about any favorable experiences in Africa, which broadly has such a negative reputation for gay play. Personally I had a great time at The Factory in Johannesburg. Meanwhile I found Senegal to be uncomfortable. Any experience in places like Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Rwanda, etc would be welcomed. Quote
Popular Post Bruno Posted February 25 Popular Post Posted February 25 I just returned from a week in Ghana. It was fabulous. My first time in West-Africa, I visited Accra, Cape Coast and Elmina. Accra is a lively and busy city full of markets. The action at night seems to take place in Oxford Street in Osu, one of the well-known neighbourhoods. Great cocktails are to be found in Republic Bar (and many others). Local DJ's sweep up te crowd. There is lots of prostitution, so take care when drunk. It is very easy to meet the locals in the bars and you will find no effort / issue doing what you like. Although men look handsome, I wasn't in the mood. In Cape Coast, a five hours drive west from Accra (although less than 150 km), I was greeted by a surprising amount of guys. The rocks behind the famous fort play the role of an exclusive and excluded spot. Men approach you, show their (huge) penises, ask for you number, ... At night, I had dinner in a local restaurant and got hooked up by the waiter. He invited me to stay with him, what I refused. Bare in mind that an average European earns 40 times more than his Ghanaian counterpart. After dinner, I went for a walk in the old town (small) and a guy approached me for sex. I was shocked by the bluntness: 'I really want to fuck you very hard now.' Again, I politely refused. All men who approached me seemed good-looking (beautiful teeth for instance), fit (fitness culture), well-spoken (English mother tongue) and friendly. I stayed at a cool resort at the coast near Elmina. The staff seems very attentive. Many of the guests seemed to have hooked up with members of staff. wetgrip44, FunFifties, Heba as-sa3udeya and 6 others 8 1 Quote

Only posted on this forum as `i was surprised not to find and 'info' on Ghana. Plus, a couple of travellers I met in the hostel in Accra told me Togo, Benin, Liberia and Sierra Leone must be awesome in terms of meeting local men as well. Maybe another future post? Quote

I am surprised by this - very different from my visit. Gay sex is still illegal in Ghana and you can go to jail, so I did not venture out much. Nor did I see much activity on the streets - most of it is done very discreetly and well hidden. I advise caution. Quote
12is12 Posted Wednesday at 09:21 PM Posted Wednesday at 09:21 PM Bruno, is there an explanation for the gap btw ur experience and KeepItReal's post. I've read that in Ghana and other sub-sahara countries gay sex is illegal; that the police and hotels actively enforce it; and that sometime big-dicked guys seduce u, and then their fake-police friends burst into the room demanding payoffs... Bruno Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago It is very difficult to explain how my experience of Ghana was potentially differenet to someone else's. However, let me be clear and humble, I have only been one week in the country and as probably already mentioned, it was my first time in Sub Sahara Africa. I therefore am not entitled to generalise or make assumptions about other people's experiences, countries in the region or whatsoever. The one thing that surprises me though about some of the reactions posted on this blog is that people seem to make the assumption that if being gay is illegal this automatically leads to no gay activity present. Bizarre. On a personal level, I fondly remember my trip to Iran in 2016. I was 31, travelling by public transport, invited into Persian homes (due to the incredible hospitality I had encoountered), so I can say that I have met 'the Persian / Iranian culture' in these three weeks. In my humble opinion: Tehran (and many other places, mainly cities in the country) is a gay paradise. It's all hidden, out-of-bound and underground, which is what it makes it so sexy and a treasure. On a contrary note: the most boring gay-place on earth in my opinon is Thailand. The men are small, average looking, fake and being gay is as commercialised as a slice of pizza in the US. Again, that's an opinion and obviously, utterly subjective. Bottom-line: visit Ghana! It's exotic, in full development, beautiful, easy to travel in and the men look approachable, fit, gorgeous and skilled. Some detail I even forgot to mention in my previous post: take a seat on the sand after 6 pm on Accra's Labadi Beach and count the amountg of men willing to engage with you in an hour. If I were in the mood that week, boy I would have had fun. X khaolakguy and FunFifties 2 Quote
Frenchfrank Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I agree with your observations on Thailand. i visited N Iraq a few times about 14 years ago. It was a paradise. On one occasion I hooked up with five guys who formed a pecking order to fuck me in turn. I had to bring off the last two orally as my arse was pounded to oblivion.
