Was deodorant the only thing that was not allowed? Other liquids were oke?

I was looking into a side trip to Laos next month when visiting Bangkok. Wanted to take that train also, but online read mixed messages about what is allowed on that train and whats not. Don't want all toiletries confiscated while still having to travel for more than a week.

You can buy stuff in Laos. As for confiscation, I recall only that deodorant. Probably they remove scisors, knives, bombs and AK-47'sif if you happen to carry some.

Sure you can buy stuff in Laos; but somehow I like to stick to my known brands from home. For example hair gel, as I used many different brands before and most don;t work for me except for the one brand I am using for years already. Deodorant I don;t really care, I will buy just another new one. But other toiletries I like to keep so I don;t have to use other brands.

I do find it very strange you cannot take deodorant on a train. For me that is security level going too far.

At Siem Reap Airport  they have a graphic setting out what you can't carry. Apart from the usual objects, the list includes a tank! That is a tank with caterpillar  treads!
