Quickie in the City of Smiles: My Short Bangkok Break

So last month, I somehow ended up in Bangkok again. Totally unplanned. This time it wasn’t a solo escapade but a five-day work trip with colleagues. Not exactly the setup for fun, since most of my time was spent playing tour guide i.e. temples, markets, rooftop bars, the whole wholesome package. But of course, it’s Bangkok --- ----definitely no way I was leaving without at least a little extracurricular activity and explorations.

Between team dinners and pretending to be a responsible employee, I managed to sneak away a few times. Had to be strategic though, when you’re surrounded by coworkers, timing is everything.

Since it was a short trip and I only managed a few of “personal errands,” I’ll skip the usual daily diary format of my typical report and just share several places/highlight worth talking about.

 

1. Arena

When time’s limited, you don’t experiment. I went with a safe bet: Arena. Always been reliable for me. On a trip like this, a single bad session would’ve been tragic.

This time I picked a masseur named Mark. Good choice, as it turned out. I picked him on instinct. friendly face, confident vibe, and that kind of smile that tells you he knows exactly what he’s doing.

We headed to the room and chatted a bit. As he stepped out, I assumed it was the usual “go shower alone” routine, so I started undressing. Before I could turn on the water, he looked back and said, “Wait for me we shower together.” I just grinned ------ things were already off to a good start.

He came back and joined me in the shower. What I thought would be a quick rinse turned into something way more enjoyable. He took his time washing , me all over, making it feel both teasing and caring. Not rushed, not mechanical just smooth and natural. When we were done, he even towel-dried me, which honestly was pleasant. Little things like that set the tone.

The massage itself was fine, nothing earth-shattering, but solid. But the rest? That’s where he shined. He knew how to pace things, generous with his body and attention, mixing in just the right amount of playfulness. He whispered a few things in my ear that made me laugh and blush at the same time. And yes, he’s a damn good kisser. The whole thing felt easy and unforced, like we’d known each other longer than an hour.

A few days later, I went back for round two. We’d been messaging a bit in between, so it already felt like a reunion. Second time was even better ...... smoother, more relaxed, and a lot more chemistry.

After the second session, he was very gentlemanly and walked me out of the shop. When the lift doors opened, he suddenly leaned in and gave me a proper kiss on the lips --- like full-on, in broad daylight type. I froze for a second and then rode down in mild shock, grinning like an idiot. Bangkok moments, man.

We’ve been chatting almost every day since. He sends me spicy photos and videos from time to time .....strictly for research purposes, of course.

Still waiting for the inevitable “help me baby” message, but it hasn’t come yet. Instead, he’s been talking about meeting up outside the shop next time, maybe even going away for a few days together. I’m not saying no to that. We talked about daily rate and its within budget.

He’s been sending some sweet, lovey messages lately too. I take it with a grain of salt, but it’s kinda nice, I won’t lie.

All in all, Mark was a great find. unexpected, considering how little free time I had this trip. Definitely seeing him again next time I’m in town. Overall, I think I found gold in Arena!

Arena Massage has been recommended several times by forum members. Now that my visit to Thailand is approaching, I'm looking which massage shops I want to visit. Unfortunately, I'm only finding very old information about Arena on social media. I can't find a recent profile or online account to check which guys work there, for example. Does anyone have more information?

Arena is living proof that there's life outside of internet and social media. I don't think they have current account anywhere.  And still they are alive and kicking, as you as you enter in you will see meaning of saying ' room was filed with testosterone ". Just go there on your first day , following day I already scheduled trip to Jey Spa for you as mentioned in another thread.

OMG. So, day 1 and day 2 are covered, what's on the agenda for the rest of the days? Haha.

Jey.

As you know I'm not only hotel room size queen but also very sensitive to agreed time being kept. And on this account Jey never failed while at Arena sometimes boys are rushing things a bit. Premises are spotless. Buys seem to be more polished. Of course one pays more for the privilege.

Arena has advantage of being right in gay ghetto while Jey requires quite a commuting, which I like as it helps to built expectations. There are no 'keeping up appearances " there , everybody knows what is the purpose of visit and they do deliver. 

To summarize , while I prefer Jey over Arena, one can't get wrong by choosing Arena instead. It's why I suggest that venue as first massage step

how many days you will be there ?

by the way  , visit to massage venue doesn't cover day, it cover only afternoon. for evening you have bars , two a night. One for warming up and another one to make your CHOICE of stamp collection assessor

I forget the names of the 2 places in Saphan Kwai I went to with Reader, but didn't care for either one... Arena it's been ages, maybe I'll give them a try on this trip.

It's time for the US to change the clocks next week so maybe the Vinapu calendar jumps ahead too and you might be in BKK before too  long?

No, unfortunately. For a while there was chance of me going there actually tomorrow but family matters got complicated ,which coupled with finances being bit scarce made me abandon  plans to go there again this year. January 2027 plans stay firm though

From what I can tell, the shops are less expensive and most options are available, but the facilities are lacking compared to Silom/Surawong and walk-ins are not as readily available at most of the shops.  They prefer reservations if you want a specific young man.  Also, I found it more challenging communicating with the Saphan Kwai shops in English.

In Arena, If I remembered correctly aside from the actual cost of the 1.5hrs aromatherapy session, I believe the minimum tips is 1000 bath for 1hr session.

I'm giving around 1500 to 2000 tips to the therapist, depends on how satisfied I am.

For Arena, there are no twinks, only hunks and some on the mature muscly types. The manager/mama-san there is very helpful if there is something in particular you are looking from a therapist.

There are plenty.

Definitely in Saphan Khwai area, though I don't have first hand experience since those are not my type but plenty of Trip reports here points to that area along with recommendesd Massage shops. I believe they have in lower range in Tips like 1000-1500. 

There are also some massage shops with Twinky to hunky type in Silom Soi 6 like Paradise, 9-teen, nature, etc. that I always passby when I was staying in The Quarter Silom hotel couple of years back.

Part 2

It is really a struggle to make an escape from my group at night. A whole day of playing tour guide is enough to get you knackered. So post sunset, even fun feels like a chore. After saying goodnight to my group and telling them I would be out for a massage, I marched my way to Surawong for a proper foot massage. I did not lie. What they do not know is that I went to the bars afterwards (that tiny detail they don't need to know).

First stop was Good Boys, where I (and my wallet) were warmly welcomed by the lovely Emma and Tee. Tee looked much healthier this time, which was a relief after his health scare earlier this year. I was genuinely happy to see him looking well since I have no intention of coming back to the news of outliving my favourite papasan.

I was guided to my usual seat and quickly noticed the low season mood. It was just me and a South Asian lady who I chatted with briefly before she left. For a while, it was only me until a few more customers arrived. The first show started about an hour late, which is standard low season Bangkok timing if you ask me.

Then Boy appeared, my Vietnamese favorite from the last trip. He came over, smiled sleepily, and sat beside me without waiting for an invitation. I did not mind. The roster that night was not exactly inspiring. He looked tired and sleepy, and when I asked why, he mumbled something about being busy during the day.

Nam, one of my previous offs, was also there. He approached our table, clearly drunk, and kept chatting endlessly until Emma had to move him elsewhere because he was becoming a nuisance. Boy explained that a customer had come in earlier and drank with Nam. It all made sense.

Since Boy looked like he could fall asleep sitting up, I told him straight that I was not offing him tonight. He looked disappointed but agreed and asked if he could sit next to me rather than doing the rotation on stage. He mentioned he really wants to go home but apparently they have to pay a certain amount if they do that. I glanced at the uninspiring roster and agreed. It was actually quite nice sitting next to him, cuddled together, with him occasionally giving me a peck or two while I watched the show.

After seeing the gorgeous Mai perform, my longtime crush, and tipping him during his rounds, I decided to move on. I gave Boy a few pink notes and made my way out. Before leaving, I noticed one of the mamasans giving Nam a scolding. Given his drunken state, I doubted it had much effect.

As I stepped outside, I saw the handsome Mai, now fully dressed, seated on the couch by the entrance having dinner. Our gaze met, he smiled warmly, and waved goodbye. Do not judge me, but my forty-something heart fluttered. I admit it.

Not ready to call it a night, I climbed up to Freshboys. They were also feeling the low season, though the crowd was a bit livelier than downstairs. I quickly scanned the roster and locked eyes with number 37, my unfinished business from last trip. He still looked handsome and jacked, but now wearing number 16. Our eyes met, I smiled, he smiled, and he pointed at himself. I nodded, and he made his way over.

“Welcome back,” he said. I asked if he really remembered me, and he replied that I came last Songkran, talked to him, but did not off him. He reminded me that I had promised to off him next time. I chuckled. His memory was sharp. Unlike last time, he was more relaxed and engaging, so I decided to finally keep my word.

As we stepped outside, I opened the app to book a taxi. Boat, his name, asked me where my hotel was, and when I showed him, he said we could walk instead. I was surprised but went along. He turned out to be quite chatty, and we talked the whole way. My opinion of him started to change. Maybe last Songkran was just a misunderstanding.

At the hotel, we showered together, and I spent a good while in bed just admiring his physique while we chatted. The main event was very enjoyable. He really made an effort, took charge, and was sensual and generous with his body. He took his time, unlike previous offs who rushed to finish so they could leave. It was a big plus that he looked even hotter under my bright hotel lighting than in the bar. If only I were alone on this trip, I would have gone long-time with him.

Afterward, we stayed cuddled for a while before he had to leave, making me promise that I would off him again. With his handsome face looking at me intently, I did not have the guts to say no. I promised. And yes, I actually did off him one more time - and I honestly think this will not be the last one.

Another errata:

After a thorough audit and investigation by @jason1975, it was discovered that my recall of numbers and names is unreliable and hazy at best in the presence of gorgeous eye candies.

1. Vietnamese guy from previous trip has been #16 all along. Number didn't change.

2. After a thorough due diligence, #16's name actually is Bird. He pronounced it as "Bot" which made me assume that it's "Boat"

Apologies and rest assured that I will take this time to reflect and ensure accuracy of future trip report 🙂 

Btw, didn't change the fact that #16 is hot!

When you wrote about #17 a few months ago, I honestly didn't know how to react. #17 is my regular guy as some forum members know. And I have never known him to take the initiative to directly approach a customer for an off. Your account left me puzzled but I never mentioned it to him.

Now I understand. It wasn't him all along!

I decided it's really silly to be acting like a disgruntled ex partner so I smiled sincerely and said sure.

We ended up talking for a bit longer. He was unexpectedly pleasant. Way more relaxed than the night before. He actually seemed like someone you’d want to spend time with. Somewhere in that convo, I buried the silly melodrama I created in my head. Maybe he had a bad night. Maybe I did. Or maybe nothing brings a bar boy back down to earth faster than a half-empty club and the whiff of low season creeping in.

When 3X finally arrived, I hesitated but gave 17 a tip anyway. A gesture. A peace treaty.It felt like a good note to end on."
