OP, going back in streetview to their oldest picture Oct 2012 doesn't help.

I don't remember any bar there, must have been before my time (first trip to Pattaya 2010).

Not to nitpick, but the name was Gacuya, not Gaycuya.  

Here's an old post from 2006 by catawumpuscat (RIP) that mentions Gacuya Bar. 

If I remember correctly, the narrow Kawaii Bar was just to the left of it, then past that, the stairs leading up to the second floor Dynamite Bar, which was above Kawaii and Gacuya bars.

 

 

Yes, City became Gacuya. It was rumoured to belong to a policeman.  The mamasan was a flamboyant character whom I recall wearing outrageous, feathered hats. She could go outside and then suddenly open the door theatrically to re-enter, expecting the clientele to look round in admiration. We tended not to do so. It was a twink bar. And one of my favourites..

Not to nitpick, but the bar over Lucky 7 was Four Seasons. Kawaii upstairs had the toilets and boys locker room

Dynamite was located over Dreamboys

Mamasan Jojo from both locations can often be found in our company last at night after she finishes here restaurant work, is still great at doing introductions to newbie or shy boys in how to take care of farang properly on a night out!

If you would walk up the stairs between "Left" Dreamboys and "right" Soho, Dynamite was on the right side, which means it was above Soho. 

 

 

There were many bars on this block of Pattayaland Soi 1 (Soi 13/3), and some of them closed and re-opened as new businesses with new names over the roughly twenty year period of 1990 to 2010.

I dug up a couple archived photos showing some of the bars on this soi.  In one photo, we can see Handy Boys was next to Lucky 777 when the photos were taken.

In the 1990's, before Lucky 777 existed, I remember the previous bar in the same location was called Charlie Boys.  I think Charlie Boys closed about 2002 or 2003, and then later became Lucky 777.

A couple bars that moved to Pattayaland Soi 1 were Wild West Boys, which moved from their smaller location on Pattayland Soi 2, to the much larger shop on Pattayaland Soi 1.  Also, Star Boys moved from Pattaya Sai Song 15, across Sai Song (Second Road) to Soi 1.  At its height of popularity, Pattayaland Soi 1 was very busy, housing numerous boy bars.

no , he was not chubby at all and did not wear orange wig for sure. I know which guy  you are talking about and in fact I saw them both dining together on few occasions.

Thanks for the photos, brings back many memories. One interesting thing to note, in both photos, there are examples of Japanese script. Today you would be hard pressed to see any Japanese script, instead it's been supplanted by Chinese. How the world doth change! I haven't walked on Soi Taniya in Bangkok anytime lately, I wonder if that Japanese girly street has changed character as well?

It's the same and it's the only street in Thailand with working girls that we get totally ignored by them, I love it 😝

my impression from this year's multiple walks , while ' ignored '  still applies to a great degree , 'totally' needs to be dropped from vocabulary

 Returning to daydreamer's evocative photos, I am reminded that, in their heyday- circa 2005 - they were all well-patronised and all  well-staffed.  Of all those named and/or shown, only Charlie Boys  wasn't a twink bar, its dancers being much the same "type" as found in BBB, suggesting that the tastes of today's punters  have changed. I believe that the same could be said of Bangkok's scene.

Is this reflective of national tastes? The influx of Chinese a few years back? Perhaps replacing Japanese? Just a guess.

Somewhere in there was the influx of masses of Russians, I believe between the Japanese and the Chinese. I realise some are back, escaping Putin's war and enjoying the fact that they do not require visas for Thailand.
