Bogota trip report

I forgot to ask. Do folks know the process to get an eSIM for a US iPhone with a Colombian number that I can use on WhatsApp?  I’d rather not use my US number on WhatsApp for a lot of reasons.  Would love to have it set up before medellin.

thanks!

Collins,

Kudos for starting off with tourism, food, shopping.

I heartly recommend taking an hour drive north 2 visit La Catedral de Sal. Unique place.

The fotos in the mileroticos link dont look tempting; curious this new agency doesnt show more flesh.

Why did u mention "safe"? What gave u the secure feeling?

How much do they charge?

Sorry, cant help with the esim.

I thought this was code for bareback or something....

I’m now in my 40s and idea of staying out for Teatron isn’t my thing anymore.

44 🤷🏻‍♂️ I don’t like to drink and club. Prefer not to miss gym days and like to see the world right when I travel. Not tired and hung over. But we are all different. How old are you?

Not sure why horseback riding be code for bareback.

You’ve traveled a lot it seems from your posts. Let me know if you hv eSIMs or guy recs. Thanks!

I'm 61....still a vampire not a morning person, late nights only depending on what country.... (Gremlins thing) last night in Bali I went out at midnight and my hookup, just left to go to work at 9am..... so 3rd shift... Brazil/Colombia  I do 2nd shift 😝

There is no special "horseback code" or secret term for bareback riding; it is simply referred to as "riding bareback". This term means riding a horse without a saddle, and sometimes without a pad.

I still use the old sim cards myself, but I'm pretty sure they can configure that for you at a claro shop.

Search for 'CAV claro' in google maps and go to the nearest one.  They will probably ask for your passport.

My liver...

True

But it would restrict your day time activities.  Perhaps that would be ok?. No more rice with garlic.

Going to suggest pre-purchasing an eSIM online. Only because the process in Colombia is overly complicated and involves much waiting around for your turn.

Alternately, if you would prefer to deal with someone face-to-face, there are dozens of eSIM sellers advertised all along Calle 10 in El Poblado, Medellín. They are very likely to be able to offer service in English as well.  Expect to pay gringo pricing. For comparison, I currently pay 54000COP for unlimited data and North American calling (Movistar). Your eSIM for one month should be right around half that amount -- 24000 - 28000 COP.

Enjoy you trip -- and please keep sharing any restaurant reviews.

Most of the international eSIMs are data only. One I chatted with yesterday had calls and SMS but the number they give you is a US number.

I just bought this one from one of the main Colombian providers (it's apparently one of the worst coverage outside the main cities but Im going only to Medellin and Bogota). It comes with calls and texts, which I can only imagine come from a Colombian number, but despite downloading the ap, I haven't been able to see my number. But I haven't activated it yet.

I also recall reading something in these forums about "one stop-shopping" upstairs at the Bogota airport where there is an ATM with either 20k or 22k commission beside a shop selling physical SIMs (Claro, I recall?) The poster was saying it's his first stop upon arriving
