Members NolaAndBeyond Posted yesterday at 09:22 AM Members Posted yesterday at 09:22 AM I happened to search for Bangkok on rent.men/rentmen.eu and was surprised to find 210 guys advertising there. A few of them listed rates which were in the typical range charged in the U.S. That seems absurd for Bangkok. Any idea what's going on here? Are these guys for real? Are they delusional to think they can get US-level rates in Bangkok, or is there a hidden market for these guys that the typical Thai boys aren't filling? Does anyone actually use rentmen to find boys in Bangkok? I presume that these guys are paying monthly fees to appear on rentmen, so they must be getting something out of it, but mostly I'm just scratching my head. floridarob and pong2 1 1 Quote

Perhaps they know that Bangkok middle class is quite sizable and many gay members from that class would not even entertain to patronize lowly, in their opinion , Silom ghetto venues. And rentmen guys cash in on that inclination. Walk to any of Bangkok multiple malls and one may observe local people feasting on 500 baht dishes which can be had for 150 in the next block . Who buys those 700 baht underwear if in Silom market similar can be obtained for 100 ? and yet somebody does. Jey Spa is kind of upscale place and most of times when I was there , other patrons seemed to be local guys on their lunch break or after work foray. so I'd say , it's not a hidden market at all - it can be seen day after day in Icon Siam, Siam Paragon and the like. pong2, Ruthrieston and Enchanted_Elixir 3 Quote
macaroni21 Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago OK, so I made a quick search on rent.men filtered for Bangkok. The majority of the listings are not Thai. They seem to be "working" tourists, expecting to earn their way around the world. Is there a market for them? Possibly. LIke in all cities, even in darkest Africa, there are the One Percent who are filthy rich, and who may want the thrill of reeling in a callboy of exotic ethnicity plus muscular build. A friend of mine who used to live in Hong Kong once told me white girls (mostly Russian) were successfully charging US$500 to 1,000 per hour in the city. Plenty of rich Chinese businessmen from Shanghai or other mainland cities made up the clientele. (He's straight, so he had no knowledge of the the male-male market). Even among Thai sex workers, asking for 5,000 baht or 10,000 baht (US$300) is not unheard of. Personally, I cannot see how paying three to six times the knocking shop rate delivers three to six times the pleasure, but then I am not a member of the One Percent. khaolakguy, pong2 and floridarob 2 1 Quote

When comes to pleasures of life , Cartesian logic not necessarily always applies . pong2 and Ruthrieston 2 Quote
jimmie50 Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago I wonder if the Thai men who advertise on Rentmen are just copying the asking price of providers in the US hoping this will be their accepted fee (being optimistic) but understanding that it probably won't happen (being realistic). Don't know, since I have never used Rentmen. floridarob 1 Quote
