Bangkok and the interwebs

While doom scrolling earlier this week, X showed me a picture of a guy that looked like the identical twin of my first boyfriend from more than 20 years ago.  Well, identical except for a paw print tattooed on his ass which is both kind of odd and kind of hot all at the same time but I digress….

His IG profile was linked so I messaged him there and basically said I thought he was hot and that he reminded me of someone I used to know.  A day later he wrote back and we have been chatting ever since.  His English is excellent and, yes, he “makes content” but also has a science/engineering day job in Bangkok and is genuinely interesting.

I am in my early-40’s now and have not spent much time in Bangkok recently but did use to travel there somewhat regularly 10 or 15 years ago so I know how the place works and, well, this is not what I remember.  Is this a thing that happens in Bangkok now?  Have others had a similar experience?  Did Thailand start taking lessons from Brazil recently?

Almost similar experience. In December I got a message on one of the apps asking how I was. No photo. Generally I do not respond without a photo, but he then asked if I remembered when we met in Singapore. Well, I have been in Singapore many dozens of times, the last in the summer of 2018 for a couple of days before taking the bus to Kuala Lumpur where I was meeting up with friends. There I only recall one last minute hook up when i had gone back to my hotel around lunchtime and got hit on by a student. It turned out he was just 100 meters or so from the hotel, and so we met up and had a lovely time.

However, after I remembered that, he told me he had once been to my flat in Bangkok. Of that I had zero memory, even though by then he had sent a very nice couple of photos. He was to be coming to Bangkok a few weks later and hoped we could meet up. Not quite sure what i was letting myself in for, I agreed to meet up, but only for a casual coffee or drink to start with. He then suggested meeting at the Yunimori Hot Spring. When i saw him, I realised that a fool I had been not to remember him. He is gorgeous! We had a great day and as a result I will go back to Singapore to meet up again for four days in April.

If you're talking bout content, I think it's a generational thing more than a geographic one......some guys used to be shy about taking pics, now many love videoing sex, alone or with others..... I'm ok with that 😉

The thought that was going through my head is that the experience I am having with this particular guy is similar to experiences I have had with guys from Brazil but never really with someone from Thailand before.  

I do agree with you about “content” too though.  He is very comfortable being photographed which is again typical of Brazil but not Thailand (or it wasn’t when I last spent any real amount of time there) but also typical of those that grew up with social media and smart phones.  My recollection of Bangkok contains memories of guys that should have no body image issues whatsoever (and in some cases had been on stage in their underwear shortly before) darting under the covers to avoid standing naked for any amount of time in the hotel room.

Update: As I was writing this I just asked him how old he is and he said 29.  He looks younger.  I was expecting 23 or 25.  I am not sure that changes anything other than that if you apply the one-half plus seven rule, he is just barely age appropriate for me but whatever.  I don’t have any plans to go to Thailand any time soon anyway.

in Thailand I would not be attached to any age rules other than over 18  when comes to carnal pleasures

Cute and to each their own but my general experience with the, say, under 21-crowd is that they are clueless both in general and in bed.  A bit of experience is a good thing.  I certainly did not have many of the talents/abilities that I have now when I was “over 18”.  It takes a while to figure out what you like and what you like to do with other people.

Yeah, I never much understood why society prizes virginity.  I’d much rather be with someone that has a bit of experience and knows what they are doing.

Absolutely. My preferred crowd is late 20s to late 30s. They generally know what they are doing.

For reasons related I think to mosquitos, he turned down my invitation 🤪 . I was so upset
