Jomtien Restaurant Recomendations

Recommended Posts

Posted

I will be in Jomtien this coming week and would appreciate any restaurant recommendations.  I understand there will be differing views, but looking more for quality vs inexpensive (both combined is fine).

Apologies for the repeat post, but the original post with the responses was lost when the site was restored from an earlier backup.   Appreciate those who responded adding their comments again as I was going to use the site as my reference and did not copy the recommendations before the site went down.

Pupen seafood was touristy but enjoyable. Lots of locals eating there so it must hit the mark for them. Plenty of seating when we arrived early at 5.30 and nice beach sunset view. Overall good value, usual wisdom when ordering seafood applies. Worth mentioning that staff have no interest in upselling you as their job is to serve you as efficiently as possible so they can turn over, though they may point out specials. Compared to the scammers on Beach Road.

Lung Sawai just a minutes walk away is also recommended online though I’ve never been.

stay away from the other “recomended” seafood  spot Moom Aroi, might be good for locals but as a foreigner I found it poor

If you’re the bougie sort, Cave Beach Club and Glasshouse were nice.

For a really good French restaurant, then recommend La Bordeaux, which is in Pattaya, behind TukCom. Link to last week's Table d'hôte menu

Looks good thanks, have bookmarked. I also like steak street Pattaya Sai Song which is my usual for fancy night out in that general area

One of the joys of Pattaya/Jomtien is the number of fine restaurants,  serving a host of cuisines- some unexpected- and at remarkable prices. At least for a Londoner.

Yer right, unfortunately no Pie&Mash shops serving 'Liquor', but the rest of the international fare can be readily found.

breakfast at O'Delices, corner French place, for rest of day Sophia's kitchen few steps away or whatever takes your fancy.

Remember there's no such thing like good or bad food as tastes vary immensely

Oh there is such a thing as bad food.  Take it from someone who wound up at the doctors….

Nice. Ensure you get an inside table, so AirCon'd. The outside tables will give you the lively ambience of the complex. Peter (Brit) the owner is a local wine importer, got the impression he services Poseidon/The Wine Cellar amongst his clients. Noticed a lot of similarities.

On the 2 times I've visited, food has been good. Mediterranean in style with a selection of Thai dishes.

Got the impression, that despite closing early, normally fall into the category of "farang sit, farang drink" at CockA2, so notice it closes between 21:00 and 22:00 whilst sipping my gin and FeverTree, his wine business is his main passion.

Been away the last month, so unsure of status of the new resturant Schatze's, which is likely to have similar fare.

Out for a wander later, so will check on Schatze's status.

Ah, the old Usain Bolt mindset. Read recently that 2 weeks before a major  competition he eats nothing but McD's chicken McNuggets, as needs to built protein and quality guaranteed, rather than sample any of the local stuff.

One place I forgot to mention- my partner will be furious as it's his favourite- is   MK. Branches in Central, Big C, T21 and Lotus ( Outlet Mall).  The duck is the best I've had anywhere. I've not met a Thai who doesn't adore this chain . The waitresses (and a couple of slightly shy waiters) used to perform a dance at 20 00 to entertain diners. It was on Youtube.

I learned that lesson  eons ago when travelling to India with somebody adventurous when comes to exotic food and witnessed how dream vacation turned almost immediately to life threatening ordeal  owing to poor choice of banana lassi supplier. Fortunately one of our pack was doctor

From the MK Restaurant website:

"Our Beginning, 1962- Thai Restaurant at Siam Square Soi 3.  A small Thai restaurant in a one block commercial shop house in Siam Square Soi 3 managed by Aunty Thongkam Mekto was the beginning of MK.  The name MK was derived from the former owner of the shop, Makong King Yee, the Hong Kong businessman who relocated to Boston, USA in 1962."

In Jomtien there is Marcos, an Italian style restaurant on  Thappraya Road Pattaya close to entrance to Jomtien Complex. Very popular!

Happy to recommend this as well. Been on my to-do list for a long time. Location is on Trappraya Road, just up from The Bus Station, View Talay 1 and just before Grande Carabbean condo.

Definitely the best quality Italian in Jomtien. Inside and outside dining, approx. 30 covers inside, good extensive wine list, and food service on point.

Shared starter, 2 mains including a melt in your mouth Aussi tenderloin (Fillet, Filet Mignon or Eye of Fillet if you're Aussi) steak, bread, wine, Italian Brandy and a couple of Expresso's, change of 3000.

Going back Saturday to investigate the wine cellar in more detail.
