We are going back around 15 years though...I think he was late 60's then ?

That bar eventually was taken over by the former Baan Dok Mai hotel owner

Mike had his 60th birthdayparty in LaCage in June 2010. There are Youtube videos from that occasion. So he would be 74 this summer.

Krazy Dragon....great memories in that Go Go

Mikes Le Cage bar....I imagine he wouldn't be around nowadays, maybe in spirit

I remember there was some problems regarding his bf. Since then I have not seen Mike. Maybe he is on this forum, who knows.

  3. Hello, It might seem a bit odd asking such a question, but I hope some kind soul could help. I will stay close to National Stadium BTS in June for a week. I´ve been strolling around with help of Googlemaps trying to find some small bar or cafe for some beers during daytime, as I like to sit down outside and relax sometime between walking around. I will not go by BTS anyway far, I try to find a place nearby, walkingdistance.

  4. Ohhh, I see. I thought it might be that one, but was not sure. Is it really a fellow countryman who had the guts to give it a try?

I suppose he isn´t as gay-unfriendly as another bar-keeper in Pattaya I once wrote about :good:  :p

  5. Yes, I go there several times during my holidays, with boyfriend or alone also sometimes. Boss is a really nice guy, including his wife. Food is good, same kind I often go to eat in Oh-A-Harn-Thai restaurant.

  6.

i gave up now with nong at mosaic he gives a bad service as they seem so busy with the straight guys staying here bringing back local thai ladies, when you walk into the office to bring things not right to his attention he doesnt even give you eye contact, as he too lazy to want to short things out now, the prices have gone up a bit too & not good value for money anymore considering flamingo & other new places

Me and my bf came for holiday in May, I had booked Mosaik as many times before. But, upon arrival, entering the room, and seeing small ants walking around everywhere, and having to hassle with some stupid password, valid only for one computer, I at once thought about moving away. Only the stupid system with 1 password/computer was enough really. I had to go down to get 3 more passwords as we both needed 2 passwords.

So we went to Pattaya Bay Resort. Everything fine there, just one password for all our phones, pc:s and ipads, but a tad more expensive. Hope Mosaik will get their things sorted out.

  7. Well...thank you for your support in this case. This bar is not only for truckers, I guess the real truckers are a minority of them who visit. But he uses the Rahtarit association logo in his sign. Apparently some old friend of him came up with the idea to have one Rahtarit-place in Pattaya. The boss himself is no trucker. If you are interested, look up Rahtarit in google.

  8. I just came back from Pattaya. I walked by in May, and saw this man in his bar, and thought I would say hello to him again, as I have done for some years. And I looked forward to a beer also.

He sat there looking at his phone, and did not even look up to me as I approached him and said "Hello, is this chair free?"

    The conversation:

He: Didn't I already tell  you?

Me: Sorry, tell me what?? When??

He: You have a boyfriend from here!

Me: Yes, and he lives with me in Finland.

He: Then you don't need to come here.

and so it went on me trying to understand why, arguing about why...getting a good answer, but no

The original reason for going to his bar the first time is that this bar is a bar for truckers. I've been a trucker for 20 years, not anymore though. Before we got along well, I always came to his bar in daytime alone. My boyfriend then usually being in WeCare getting a facial treatment. And he always came there also after he was ready, and he had a good chat with the lady that worked there. The boss just happened to be away when my bf arrived, so he never got to see us together... until last year in May. Then we sat there both having some drinks, and the boss came. We left soon and said goodbye, it was the last day of our holiday, and I did not notice anything. Perhaps the boss was not there as we left, I don't remember.

I would not be so pissed off if we had come to this bar together the first time, and he had told me to back off, this is not a bar for gays. But in this case me and him have chatted a lot during 3 years on our 1 month holidays, and everything was fine. He never asked me about my preferences. I also enjoyed chatting with some truckers from Finland, we didn't know eachother from before.

  9. Hello!

Copy of my post in my Facebook:

"This bar in Pattaya is very gay-unfriendly. When the owner knows you are gay, you have no right to enter the place. This happened to me, even though I have visited the bar for 3 years. Last year he found out I have a male partner. Therefore I was not welcomed any longer. He told me to go to Sunee area, where my kind of bars are. The bar is situated at Tuk-Com. We don't need this kind of bars, especially not in Thailand."

  10. Howdy!

You might already know, but I thought I would tell you just in case. Now you can try to see if you got caught on video, provided you was there in October 2012.

Personally, I will not be seen, as I arrived on Christmas Eve. Looking forward to my vacation again. Arriving on the 26th of May. One month stay only. See you in Come-In bar :good: ... Why there?? Well that's the bar I (we) usually go to, apart from Colonial and Up2U.

  11. I've been to a few of the beer bars over the years, but after my first visit there I tended to always go to the same one. The reason I chose to do that was not ideal. The reason was simple, it was the one my Thai friend preferred.

Exactly same here, and I have not found the guts to propose some other bars for him. It seems that the Thais only want to go where they can have a good chat with friends all the night. I feel I miss something, but in the end it's all the same i guess. I would not however be able to look for other boys either...

  12. You said it! I dont go to many different bars when in Pattaya, and we mostly stay in Sunee. Come-In bar is number one for me. David and all of the staff are very friendly. And they have a great sense of humo(u)r too, sorry to all the Brits :p .

Ps. I think I have more difficulties with the English writing than you. And I wish I could speak French too, but David speaks English good enough to be able to have a conversation.

  13. I see Super Rich still has the best exchange deals. For those who do not know it, there is a kiosk

    http://www.superrich...om/location.php

Yes, this something I have noticed too, that you get "much" better rates at small booths that has nothing to do with any bank. Are they private maybe? I have never exchanged in any other places than the small shop on second street opposite Dream House hotel, Super-T I think the name is. There you have been able to get up to 0.50 better rates, than in them "official booths" In the end not so big difference, but you get a couple of "free" meals during a month :good: .

Looking at the charts, it seems like you get less bahts today for every currency. Then it means Thai-baht is stronger than before, so the problem we have with Euro is not the only reason.

  14. I think Euro/Baht was something like 45-47 in 2006. In the following years it was at least that, and even more some years. I remember it was just under 50, could've been 2008 maybe. But last year it went down to 41. These figures are from the end of the years, October to December. What is the going rate now, if you change in the street?

I have never focused on any other currencies. We have problem with the euro, thanks to Greece, so that is one reason for the bad rate. How is the rate for US dollar/Baht, and Pound/Baht and other currencies compared to years gone by? Has it gone down with almost 20 percent, as it has with euros? Or could it be that Thai baht has gotten stronger than before? Then it would be lower rates for other currencies also.

  15. Of course you only need to add an additional language, and then use your present keyboard, but do you really know where all the different thai-letters situate? If I would be a good typist, then I would not need to look at the keyboard when writing, but I am not. I do use the 10 finger system: 9 searching and 1 writing, even in my own and learned languages, hehe. I guess it would be hard for a thai too, to write โชคดีครับ, without seeing the keys. I have already added Thai to my bf:s laptop, so we dont need to begin downloading it in Pattaya, with slow internet. It was quite a big file for windows 8. I tested it and he did write his name in thai, but only through trial and error, finding the right keys. We have to remember laptop-keyboards differ a bit from normal, to which he is more familiar regarding thai.
