I just saw a report re: increased gun violence in Rio. Sad and tragic stories.

This is so sad and tragic. I also read about this on the "other" site, and then here. I first met Jackhammer at an initial LA Hooboy dinner at the now defunct Numbers. This is where I first met Tomcal, Jackhammer and many other members. As I recall there was about 10-12 members. I had the pleasure of getting to know Jackhammer. First at some of these LA Hooboy gatherings, and then sometimes just the two of us would meet up for lunch or dinner at various venues around town. Also met up with him in Rio a couple of times as are paths crossed.......... He was one of the good guys. The last time I saw him (a few short years ago), we met at Canter's Deli in LA for lunch - he had just survived his initial bout of cancer, treatment, etc. Looked a little leaner, but good - and his prognosis seemed to be positive. I know thru his postings that he struggled off and on with his illness these past few years. I am heartbroken to hear this news, and thinking long and hard on why we did not stay in touch these past few years. Rest In Peace.

Visited Sauna Adan on two separate nights this past October. Not too busy, but met some very hot guys including some Spanish Porn Stars. Going rate averages 35-50 euros for about 20-30 minutes. All the guys willing to visit you in your hotel or apartment later. Many of the guys on Gay Romeo (Planet Romeo) posting under Madrid escorts can be found on occasion at the Sauna. Madrid is a great city - and with the economic situation in Spain - not too expensive. Enjoy!

Hi there - I stayed at the Westin Berlin about 3 years ago. Very good hotel in a great location - I was upgraded to a suite, and used points (I travel frequently for work), so not sure on the going rates. Brought 2 guys back on 2 separate nights with no problem.

I was with the muscled one you mentioned - this was maybe 4-5 years ago, and he was also working at 117. Very nice guy - totally versatile. I believe he went by the name of Junior (of course - Junior is the name of 20-30% of the boys in the saunas - lol!)

I have visited Curitiba and agree - it's a very nice city - clean and well run. Botanical Gardens are beautiful and worth a long afternoon to visit. Also took advantage of a Hop On / Hop Off self-guided bus tour around the city. Saunas were great - smaller than Rio or SP but very friendly and very good looking guys. Definitely worth a visit!

I rarely post here, although I know some of the people on this board, and wanted to add my two cents regarding hotels v. apartments. On my first trips to Rio (about 9 years ago) I stayed at the Atlantico, but for the past 5 years, I always stay in apartments, and either in Ipanema or Leblon. Prefer these neighborhoods, (great restaurants, good eye candy, good shopping, great beaches, etc) - and for the price of US$120-200 you can get a very nice 1-2 bedroom apartment with living room, kitchen, etc. Never had problem bringing boys back to my place - I notice the doormen and neighbors don't care. Their only concern is loud noises, parties, etc. but since I travel alone, I am a quiet neighbor. BTW - you can return VERY late to your rental apartment (I have returned anywhere from 2am, 4am, etc) and no worries - the doorman will always let you in. Was going to return to Rio May 15, but family concerns are keeping me home for the time being. Hope to return later this year.
