  1. wow, gorgeous stud! Guess its time to save some money for a Rio trip...
  2. I stayed at the "Hotel Atlantico Bussiness" quite a few times some years ago and never had a problem bringing guests back to the hotel for some extra time after the saunas or an overnight... Aways booked the room for two people and never was stopped by the hotel staff on the lobby or asked anything. I just make sure the guy with me is dressed for the place (jeans and shirt on), and that never was a problem as most of the boys from 117 come to work on nice clothes.
  3. Tidewater, thanks for the report! Since I can't go to Rio theses days, love hearing about others experiences there. I like the off sauna report, keep it coming. Also, those visits get even more fun when you invite a guy you met before at the saunas... worth a try.
  4. He is simply gorgeous Tomcal... hope all turns well for both of you. Could a guy like this make world famous tomcal monogamous? hahaha But please tell me you didn't meet him working on a sauna... I mean, I don't have nothing against anyone that work there, but it would say a lot about the trends in the medical job market in Brazil nowadays...
  5. I could not agree more about the "representativeness" of the picture above, both from the guys we can see in brazilian´s (particulary rio's) sauna and from the guys for sure are visiting Tom over when he is in Brazil... I say that because I still lively remember the first time I stepped on Club 117 few years ago and I could not belive my eyes kkk
  6. I hope you have a really good time likeohmygod, and I know you will have. Also, I would tell you to not limit yourself to the saunas... if you have time, go to one of the trendy nightclubs on Rio, especially if they are hosting any kind of party... like the "Safado" party on "The Week", went once in August during the Olympics and was overwhelmed by the number of muscle boys there (including many from 117 crew).
  7. Always love your reports Tom! Keep going and tell us how Lagoa is doing...
  8. Well, an "americanized long-term relationship" between forme sauna worker/client where both partners work, have similar income and share almost the same responsibility in paying the household bills or caring for the kids is yet to be seen by me... let alone experience it. But I did know some boys that were "married" for 2-3 years, like the old days straight marriage were the wife was never intended to work or put any money on the house.. just care for the kids... but they never lasted until kids are born.
  9. Recife is a nice city to visit, some nice views, beaches and museums... But if you go to Boa Viagem beach, don't swim...
  10. Recife has three saunas that I know: Thermas Boa Vista - nice facilities with the best suite I've seen in any sauna... It has some open and free cabins that some boys may lure you into for a quick check up... About 15-20 boys in the nights I went... Some muscular, few twinks Bluethermas in Boa Viagem - good but not great facilities, about 10 boys when I went... I saw there one of the most handsome model like boy but I was not quick enough To get him... Waited for two hours, but had To meet some friends outside and while leaving a handsome bodybuilder arrived... Almost called my friends telling I had an emergency. Sauna Progresso: didnt like much, few boys... Have a nice outdoor space for drinking and chating with the boys. I went on a slow day, and left soon since it was a party day at thermas boa vista. It was very hard to get a taxi outside. Advice to ask on the sauna or use a taxi app. Boys in Recife are more down to earth but dont expect anyone To speak english. Saunas are cheaper and a programa goes around 50-70 reais. There is also a client/client action going on the saunas above.
  11. What I would give to earn in USD hehehe A raise in the USD price in Brazil was not unexpected, but its sad to see it is increasing the speed on inflation rates rise (already at 10% yearly). I think its a good time for a massive influx of tourists to brazilian saunas... That would be a help to the boys... But please, dont help inflation raising the programa value... Please follow the "Tomcal model"... Instead of doubling the programa value, take 2 or 3 guys to the cabins! Share the wealth and raise productivity kkkk
  12. These pics are a "enhanced" by photoshop... but they dont deny that these guys are hot. The last one could be seen at Club 117, he is a truly gentleman and one of my best experiences in Rio... did not see him in Club 117 since last year, but could call for a visit at the hotel.
  13. Agree with TotallyOz. These subjects are better handled in a discreet manner. I tell you have my support Tom for whatever decision you make about what posting or not posting. Your insights (and of all the posters here) were incredibly helpful in my discovery of the sauna scene in Rio/SP and I`m grateful for that. I know it dont easy the hit, but you are not alone in getting anger from boys... Two Brazilian blogs (Volupia and Kafussu) that sometimes talks about the saunas or individual boys are usual target of the boys angers and had even being deleted by Google/Blogspot a number of times on behalf of boys complain.
  14. There is a another Hotel called "Atlantico Rio" from the same franchise... It opened in 2013, I think, and was nice with everything new. It really helps that it is just in front of the Cantagalo Metro station (1 stop away both from Ipanema or Point 202) and very safe to arrive at night from the metro. Its three blocks from the beach, but there are plenty of bars or restaurants near. When I was there two years ago, they had the same police on visitors of not minding with you where up with them. Also, the Atlantico Praia hotel on Av. Atlantica is under renovation, I have never stayed there, but the rooms look nice now too and with a great rate. Unfortunately all guests complain about construction noises on their reviews on booking.com. When in Rio I usually stay at one of the Ibis or Mercure/Adagio (botafogo, copacabana or centro). Rio hotels prices are just unaffordable for me lately hehe
  15. Yeah, It was at Lagoa. Gossip around is that the boy in case does it in a recurrent manner and was reported couple of times, but is in good grace with one in command there... So, to not ruin my night mood even more I let it go... The other boys were pretty good in cheering me up me. I've not been there after that, and plan to show more in Rio.
  16. Tealady hope you will enjoy a lot this trip... the saunas are quite lively (with lots of boys in need of extra money) lately - at least here in SP. On a side note about warnings, as the boys are eager to get more money, most will try harder to please the clients... but one or another can try to take advantage of you - so always be crystal clear about you want from the boy and how much you will pay for it. For the first time in 4-5 years one got me... After a programa with a very persistent boy, he made a scene and his price is R$ 500... I could have talked to the manager and get away paying the usual R$100, but since he pointed that I had not asked him how much it would cost (and he was right) I paid it...
  17. Since a medical doctor was killed by minors with knife wound at Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas, two weeks ago, there have been more reports of robbery at knife point - including a young man inside a train in Rio's center just 2 days ago. I don't know if there is a statistical raise in such incidents or the media is just enjoying the higher audience these kind of reports have now. I think the US. Gov recommendation on Health insurance copy is that for in case of a traumatic injury you can be rescued or transferred later to a private hospital (possible better - but not always) instead of staying in a public hospital (always overcrowded); Just as a illustration the risk of death by transport accidents in Brazil is almost equal as the one for homicides.
  18. I think all this discussion will only do good - one can never be "too careful" when in Brazil, in special in Rio. Is it true that theft and robbery are on a rise in Brazil, but only to those "historical levels" of the 90 and early 2000. Don't think Brazil has fallen in a pit of violence, it is just a violent third world country and never have been different. It is possible - as always have been -to still have fun here and stay safe. The economy is on a low, but has not collapsed (well, at least not yet) - and its not the unemployment that have caused the rise in theft, its for good measure the chances in the "unemployment insurance". Despite historical lows on unemployment rates until last year, the government spending on "unemployment insurance" raised year by year from R$6 billions in early 2000 to R$40 billions in 2014. Until last year, if a worker stayed 6 months on a job it earned 6 months more on unemployment insurance, so about 60% of the workers forced their lay-off within each work year. So the most common for young low-class workers was to work part of the year and stay the other part of the year on unemployment insurance and work as autonomous for extra-income, like sauna work (or not work at all). With low unemployment and high work rotation it was easy to find a new job after those 6 months. The government changed (for the good) the law and now one has to work 18 months to earn unemployment insurance - so everybody its a lot more cautious to not lose their job (no more job rotation) and many who did the old strategy early this year was catch unaware and now don't have the unemployment insurance extra-income. So, as someone that survived many economical crisis in Brazil (and some thefts and robbery too), I advise the middle-class way - only use public transport at daylight (or until 7pm), don't walk around deserted streets (even on daylight) and use a taxi for everywhere else, door to door. More pratical advice: - For Lagoa in São Paulo, come by taxi and go back to hotel by taxi. You can ask the valet to get a taxi for you at the door of Lagoa. Metro is near, but the side streets to Lagoa maybe deserted even in daylight (and will be on sunday), so theft is possible. Even some sauna workers do that as they fear some other boy calling people outside the sauna and informing they are leaving with lots of cash (sauna boys get robbed too!) - For Fragata in São Paulo, come by taxi and ask for a taxi to the desk/doorman. If early, like until 10pm, its safe to walk to the right down the street and get a taxi in front of the Pizza Hut, as there is plenty of action there and the two bars in front of it. I have not been in Rio for a while, and used to get to Club 117, Point 202 and Meio Mundo by Metro and leave by metro if until 10-11pm and was in a hotel in front of or very near a metro station. - Club 117 has a taxi pick-up point at Gloria Street before the metro station, take the taxi there. If sunday or late (past 10pm) it could be safer to ask for a taxi at Club 117 desk. - Meio Mundo its "safe" for walking from the metro station on work days until 7pm, but only because you blend with lots of people going in the streets. So stay aware of the surrounding. I don't go by taxi only because of the huge transit. If not rush-hour, come and go by taxi. - Point 202 : has a taxi pick-up point next to it at the other side of the street, look first if its safe to walk there from the sauna door. If feels not or there is no taxi in the point, ask the desk guy for one. - Only walk by night - even in copacabana and ipanema - if you really know the way and its a comercial street with shops open. If you have to cross residential deserted streets (even upscale), get a taxi even for 2-3 blocks. - If you ask a taxi at a sauna desk, I think its polite to tip the guy and he will remember you all other visits.
  19. In fact, Brazil have 913.910 lawyers registered on the OAB (order of the brazilian lawyers) today. Anyone who gets a law bachelor's degree needs to pass the OAB exam to register and work as a lawyer in Brazil. But Brazil has more law schools then all countries together (aprox 1240 BR schools vs 1100 in rest of world) and more then 3 million people with law bachelor's degrees who did not pass the order exam. I personaly think we have too much lawyers and think all male to be lawyer should get Tomcal seal of approval before registering.
  20. Thx for taking your time to report the news of the saunas Driver. As everyone else I love the pictures of the boys! Sorry to bring this up, but I don't think its cool to snap pictures of the "common" areas. One thing is ask the boy to pose for some pictures where he knows that you are taking them. Other is sneaking taking pictures of people who dont know nor want to be photographed. The saunas in Brazil always were a place where gay guys would enjoy a good time and enjoy some privacy... even in the smartphone era it (more or less) stayed that way. If guys perceive a bigger threat of exposure in the saunas less will come... and less clients mean less boys. PS. All the saunas have a "No Pictures" rule.
  21. Tom, always great to hear from you... even better with updates about the boys... hope you can bring us info about Belo Horizonte - always wanted to know the famous Sauna Olimpo.
  22. Great report Tom! Thx for sharing this with us. Always love to hear about ur travels!
  23. Yeah, prices will go down from the actual U$ 500 for 1 night at a 3 star hotel to the usual U$250-300/night. But I don't count prices on food, restaurants and clothes going down anytime soon.
  24. Tom, thx for all the information and advice you have been sharing with us all those years. You are a esteemed member of this community and I truly hope you stay coming to this forum.
