I felt safer in Medellin then Bogota but the difference is not big , and basically I felt safe in both. I found the apps and Romeo useful in both cities. The climate no comparison, to my taste Medellin far nicer. Both deserve a visit and of course which you like better will probably be determined by which boys were better from your perspective. Bogota is a huge comparatively wealthy commercial city. Think bank and insurance company skyscrapers. A very European city in the Andes inhabited mostly by native type peoples. There are several masseurs in each of several clubs but they do less and cost more (and are not the most attractive guys). Medellin is a relatively poor city inhabited by very attractive mainly European-Spanish types mixed with a little native. It has a reputation for attractive people. Club Tobi was all I found there and it only has 3 masseurs a night, but those muscle boys are all 9's or 10's and go for $25. It is also the nicest looking sauna I could imagine. The ones in Bogota vary from dirty to filthy with few guys over a 5 charging at least double and providing very little in return. The easiest flights are from Miami- a short hop on American or Jet Blue or Spirit to Medellin. Otherwise you have to go to Bogota and fly over. Avianca is one of the 1st airlines and is as good as any airline. Again, think European national airline.

Remember you talking vastly different distances. Bogota and Medellin are short cheap hops from Miami. Rio and San Paulo are a looooong way and BA is further. Club Tobi in Medellin is as good and cheap as you get. There are more guys and clubs in Bogota but not as attractive and cost more. Rio and San Paulo and Puerto Allegra have many more clubs and each club has many more guys. BA has nothing boy club wise. I haven't tried DR yet. For me (if I weren't tied to a regular) I'd hop down to Medellin as much as I could for cheap great sex at Club Tobi (maybe DR). The fares to Rio are much higher.

If you are questioning even taking a trip as a grown man to Brazil or South America, I strongly suggest you start off someplace that will be easy for you and wont take you too far out of your comfort zone.... Puerto Rico...decent looking guys, American dollars used....a great place for a first timer who is trying to get his feet wet Columbia, you need to be fairly attractive or have money...Bogota was great and there are tons of very hot Colombians..Grindr did me well there Costa Rica....very safe, decent looking guys....many speak some English DR, to me, is the poor mans Brazil and you should know basic Spanish...not the safest of the countries but a great bargain and close to the states...can find man cheap dates and the middle class boys use the Apps.....the working boys hang around the Conde Brazil....Paradise for me...quality, quantity, location, beaches, food, did I mention the quality and quantity...I have never had any problems except once when I was smoking weed and the police officer took it away and told me it was a no no...Plenty of hotties in the saunas, streets, beaches and apps but if you aren't confident and comfortable, its not a good option... If you have to take somebody with you to help with being comfortable, that is the reason why you shouldn't go....

Endless, I leave mine at home and ask my contact guy if they sell them in his city. I've never had a problem getting them in any city I've been to. Please let me know how the scene in Cali is. If you were ok in Brazil then it is likely you will be ok in Colombia. In Rio it is well known you can't go to an ATM machine after dark and especially when not in a tourist area brightly lit. In fact walking down the street on Copacabana teen age gangs may attack you if you are wearing Gold or watch, camera etc. I never had a problem in Brazil but was well armed with what not to do. I never had any such feelings in Colombia although I certainly arm myself with areas not to visit Bogota is a gigantic city and there are many areas that might not be safe just like NYC, Chicago, Mia etc. Hire yourself a guide off of PlanetRomeo or Hornet to show you around the first night and have Sex . Then you are likely to be introduced to his friends who would like to make money and will not want anything to happen to you. I know I stayed in the Hilton in Bogota and always registers my guests and since they had to present ID , they were likely to make sure nothing happened to me.

Greetings fellow fans of Colombia: After reading the various threads (especially snwbrdr015's) and with the helpful advice of others who have contacted me, I am into full blown planning for my first trip to Colombia. Exact dates are TBD, but it's looking like the last two weeks of May. Bogota and Medellin have made the itinerary so far. Cali is a possibility, as is Cartegena and Barranguilla. I will be flying nonstop on Delta from ATL to BOG. What I can tell you is, if the trip turns out to be HALF as hot as the conversations and interaction I've had with the boys there.... O M G! Both Bogota and Medellin are great cities although very different. Visitors generally prefer smaller, less hectic Medellin with its perfect, year-round weather. Bogota is megapolis of 10 million people, has a pleasant old town (or to be precise, what's left of it after the riots in the 40's), but can be grey and cold at times. Tourists don't spend long there as it is a difficult place to fall in love from the first sight. I personally loved my time there, but mainly because of the nightlife and guys I met there. Bogota is one of the intellectual centres of South America, but you will hardly feel it if only visiting for few days. Medellin seem to have more prepagos or at least they are more visible, maybe because of its smaller size. I found all my guys on grindr and never paid, but I'm not old and in a good shape. Since I meet that description, I can attest you will have no problem as long as you don't mind paying .. I like Medellin because of its modern architecture , shopping malls etc. Bogota is more of an Old City which I like. Bogota is 3x as big so naturally many more boys on Hornet, Grindr, Romeo etc. Climate in Medellin is more consistent and quite nice. The drive from airport to Medellin is really beautiful, reminds me of Austria. I like them both but Bogota is just more diverse . No matter where you go in Colombia, there are boys available!. Flights are cheap and short between the 2 cities so if you are traveling a long way , why not see both?

@redxs: Medellin is the city of 'eternal spring'. The climate is very inviting. The boys are gorgeous, but there are relatively more 'players' amongst them. Still pretty simple if you really want to go. Fly LH RT to Bogota ( excellent connections) and there are many flights all day Bogota to Medellin for $40-60. If you are going there should visit both . Lots more choices in Bogota (much bigger)

Colombia is undiscovered gay paradise. Hi everybody! Nice days in Colombia (Cali & Medellin)... I rented an apartment in the nice neihborghood Laureles, better than El Poblado... I visited in Cartagena, Medellin and Bogota in January. Had a great time. I was very surprised how pleasant Cartagena was. Found some great restuarants and enjoyed strolling through the streets in the walled city. It was a long exhausting tour but very satisfying and well worth the price. Tour guide with sense of humor, highly knowledgeable and articulate. Good English.
