In Memory of Hooboy

Recommended Posts

It has been 3 years now since Hooboy died. On the anniversary of his death, I think back on him often. He has such a wonderful vision and a great attitude on life. He helped more escorts than anyone can imagine and he changed the way the world hires escorts. Today, I had a bottle of wine in his memory at the place I last saw him in Thailand. I am sure he is looking down on us and smiling, laughing and cracking a joke or two.

OZ, I have been fortunate to have some insight into Hooboy's past thanks to certain Escorts that he had befriended and helped. He truly was a fun loving, caring, and giving person. Outside of helping many escorts, I think you can't forget what he did for many clients. He helped many I am sure, like myself to come out and also experience later in life what for 25 years I denied myself. THANKS Hooboy, your ideas and life appear to live again through this site.

Oz-very nice of you to remember Hooboy on this anniversery of his death.

Two of the people he helped the most chose not to

I was with him only hours before his death. It is not an easy day for me to forget. His lover Foxy works with us on MER and has for some time. Foxy sent me a moving e-mail to remind me of the day as well. His memory of Hooboy was perhaps the most important of any who visits these sites as he was with him on a daily basis for long periods of time. It is for this reason that I try to tell all gay men who have lovers to make sure they are taken care of after their death. It is not something many of us want to do but it is important. I have a Thai boyfriend who my family knows about and knows my intentions to take care of him and his family for an extended period of time.

For those that knew Hooboy, they knew he was without a doubt one of the funniest men on earth. I still remember one day with him and he dropped his brand new cell phone in the ocean. It was a stunt to make us all laugh and it worked. Unfortunately, his cell phone didn't appreciate it. ^_^

I'll always regret not calling Hoo when i had the chance to. Even in my limited e-mail contact, he seemd like such a dynamic individual. You and TY are doing honor to his memory.

In some ways it is hard to believe it has been three years. Times passes so fast. A fitting time to remember HooBoy for his contributions, attitude and good humor. I recall HooBoy as the energizing core of a microcosm that brought gay men together in a community, the likes of which never existed before. For me his rememberance also brings forth memories of past posters and escorts, members of that community, who are no longer with us.

I have so many fond memories of Hooboy. Currently I am in Montreal, so I can't help but think about the time we were here together, and it was his first time in a Montreal strip club. I bought him a lapdance with a boy who he had thought was cute. I remember him telling me afterward that it was soooo horrible because he was too shy to even move with a naked boy in his lap in a public place. This from a guy who founded the concept of escort reviews.

What a wonderful guy.

I miss him.

He was shy most of the time, but last time I saw him in Thailand, I walked into his beddroom at the Marriott and saw 2 cute guys in his bed and all of them were sleeping like angels ^_^

I have good memories of it. It was funny, You should have seen the expression on my face lol...

I can only write this:

The last time I was in Paris, I lit five candles in the Notre Dame. One of them was for Hooboy.

The last years I have been in Cologne often. One of those times I went into the Cathedral next to the main train station and I lit five candles. One of them was for Hooboy.

I had been in Vienna a few times the last years. One of those visits, I lit five candles in the Stephansdom. One of them was for Hooboy.

The last time I was in the Westerchurch in Amsterdam, I lit five candles. One of them was again for Hooboy.

And I'm not even religious.

Anton/Amsterdam.
