What's the most you've paid for an escort? What's the least?

What do you think is a reasonable price to pay? What would get you to pay more?

I think the reasonable price to pay is the norm for the area you are in plus a tip for extra good service.

In Thailand, the norm is about 1500 baht for a short time or about 45 USD. In areas like Sunee Plaza, that number is closer to 1000 baht or 35 USD. I know of many guys who only pay 500 baht so I guess I am at the high end of the spectrum in Thailand.

In Brazil, the norm is about 50-70 R or about 30-40 USD. Although, on my last trip, a great deal of the guys were asking for 100-150 R. When I get good service, I do normally tip.

In the USA, I think the average is about 200-250. I think this is a good rate for the market. I know you can get cheaper on Craig's List and much more expensive when you go for the superstars. In NYC and LA, a great deal of guys are asking for 300 USD. Most of the agencies in NYC are 300 an hour.

I think it is good policy to research the norm for the area you are visiting. Make a post here and ask for advice. Then, based on that you have a good starting point.

The main thing IMHO is to make sure that the rate is negotiated in advance so there are no hard feelings or misunderstandings. I think this is paramount to success.

Lastly, the most I ever paid was to fuck a virgin in Thailand. I had worked on him for weeks and he finally agreed for over 10 times the normal rate for someone here.

The least I ever paid is the area minimum. I have never underpaid anyone or taken advantage of a bad situation. I did have a boy in NYC (cute PR guy) I met at the Port Authority who used to give BJ's for 20 in the movie booths. He was cute and very thug looking. I liked him and spent time with him in my place. I told him anytime he need 100 US to come to my place and let me fuck him. I assumed that he would come every once in a while. It was a weekly thing for a long time and I think I ended up paying him about 150 per session after a while. This was about 15 years ago and while I am not sure if I took advantage of him or not, I paid him much more than he made in the booths but less than I would have an established gay escort.

I don't get why people use Craigslist when there are sites like this. Maybe I'm overly cautious. Dunno.

Variety, location, specificity. I can post what I'm looking for and where I'm at and guys find me. LA's a pretty big area, almost all the escorts are in WLA or (West/)Hollywood. I don't always want to go there and they often don't want to come to me.

Occasionally guys respond to my post because they're interested in doing what I've described and are happy to do it just for the fun of it, being paid doesn't enter their minds. And those that do get paid are often also in it for the fun too. A couple I've hired off CL have cum just from riding my cock, which is a great indicator of their participation you often don't see with 'escorts'.

Guys (just) from Rentboy it's often only a transaction for, and guys from here (or the other review site) are often not available spur of the moment. I'm not a big fan of planning to be horny next Thursday! Especially when I'm horny NOW! :D

Then there's price, often guys are happy with $100-$150. When I pay $200 it's usually a guy that stays several hours, gives me a massage and we have fun again (have had several regulars perfectly happy with that arrangement). Am I taking advantage? I know I can't afford to hire several times a month for $300/pop from Rentboy--especially for a mediocre 30-40 minute 'hour'. I also prefer guys looking to make a little extra cash to those doing it as their profession, even if I sacrifice the perfect 'WeHo clone' body for it.

Yet there ARE dangers, particularly compared to sticking with a well-reviewed escort. But I've never had a serious problem and it's a lot safer than cruising Santa Monica BLVD for the almost nothing there. Why would anybody do *that* you ask? Well, when I'm in the area and horny *NOW* the big head doesn't get to do all the thinking. That can be a very dangerous situation no matter where you are or who you're with, but sometimes I can't help myself.

I'd avoid Craigslist right now. Law enforcement has started to take notice of Craigslist and has set up several male and female prostitution stings in various cities and gone after the Johns as well.

People say that every couple months and have for the whole history of Craigslist. It's all about using the same caution you'd use on the street (and should use on Rentboy). Don't agree to exchange sexual acts for money. Don't pay up front. Don't discuss anything risky until you've done something a cop's not likely to do (long french kiss, mouth on cock, etc...). Probably safer for them to come to your place (law-enforcement wise).

IF you go to them in a motel/hotel and they want $200 up front to fuck you/be fucked you are either about be busted or about to waste $200 on a crappy experience.

That said, CL has been working against us. Openly solicitous ads get flagged quickly in busy cities, some will get you locked out and require verification to re-establish. But with a little practice there's still plenty of fun to be had.

My feeling is that Craigslist deserves to be ignored.

The sex industry is what made them profitable in the first place and now they are claiming they didn't realize that and fucking us over because they are getting enough revenue from other sources.

Fair weather friends deserve to be told to fuck off.

I totally agree, except that I very much enjoy amateur pay for players, and it's almost the only game in town. Except for presence on the occasional chat board and through networking from other guys, Craigslist has been the only source of non-pros I have found, and I've done quite well both placing and responding to ads. I have a pretty unusual fetish and if I'm specific in my ad, I've done amazingly well at the price points James mentioned, $100-$150 for 1-1.5 hours or $200-ish for multi-hour.

I'd love nothing better if amateurs would start posting here or someplace similiar and I could give ol' Craggie the boot, but as the guys are very loathe to define themselves as "escorts" (let alone "prostitutes", jeez!) but just guys going through some hard times and needing a little "supplemental income" I don't see it happening any time soon :(.

This has attained the status of an urban legend. I've been hiring for 30 years and I always ask my guys if they've ever been entrapped or known anyone else who has had a run in with vice cops and the only thing they've ever come back with has been unsubstantiated rumors circulating through the grapevine. I'm convinced this is mostly bullshit propagated by the competition averse, or anti-rentboy scaremongers hoping to have the whole affair dry up and blow away.

If one takes reasonable precautions, including the aforementioned never, ever, ever pay up front the worry goes to near zero. That said I'll prefer to give Canada and other legal-to-hire countries my tourism and sexcapade dollars anytime. The old Craigslist "ers" Erotic services section I miss so much is going like gangbusters in Canadian cities with thousands of m4m listings. Competition and bargain prices abound.

And I 100% agree with you! I'm annoyed by Craigslist's actions, had hopped they'd stand up to the fucking Puritans... though they were probably facing some real liability for something they weren't profiting from.

In the end it comes down to getting laid or taking some vague, un-noticed stand against the changes. Easy choice. B)

On CL, the Adult section under 'gigs' has some potential, but haven't checked on the fees for posting. As for another potential site, I've been keeping my eye on BackPage, they even have a male escorts category! In LA I haven't seen much yet, other than some of the guys that overposted so much on CL I'd never hire them. But there is some tiny bit of hope.
