Appears to depend on specific chains cutting deals for specific drugs. E.g., my statin is about $40 for 30 pills most everywhere except for Rite Aid where the price is $9.99. Pills such as Viagra and Cialis are available for free on the NHS if a physician prescribes them for medical reasons - total cost at the pharmacy of $15 to the patient for however many pills. I was offered Viagra, seemingly real, for $12 a pill, 4 to a box. Then the tech showed me a Thai version for $1 a pill, four to a box.
