Sort of like comparing Greyhound to Trailways when you're flying steerage (coach).

But I have found Avianca proper has the best coach. It's obviously a heavily-gov't-subsidized airline and controls Columbian airports. Not sure about Avianca-TACA or Avianca-Brazil.

An interesting twist is that ultra low-cost Spirit flies non-stop from FLL to Medellin and 3 other cities in Columbia. I don't know if any of Spirit's ultra-low fares apply to international.

Visiting Medellin 2nd week of November - 1st time.  If any1 has recently visited the city please offer any suggestions on places to go and party.  Read lots of helpful materials on this site but was wondering the best way for sum1 to find a guide to show me around town.

Thanks for

The biggest draw of Medellin is Club Tobi.Possibly the best Start there. Befriend some of the guys, get referrals, set dates from there. The guys at Club Tobi are world-class and way above what you'll see elsewhere. They're also honest and have a job to protect.

There was a rent boy house mentioned but I never tried it.

Thanks Tassojunior for the steer.  What about clubs are there any worth visiting?  My friend wanted to stay in Downtown Medellin but after reading some articles on the internet I am not convinced is safe.  Any steer on areas to stay would also be appreciated.

I was there last month. Tasso has always had good luck at Tobi. I have only ever had OK luck. Moderate your expectations. The whorehouses mentioned before Fercho and Pothos were both closed when I was there and neither was advertising on milleroticos, the go-to website for such things.

I suggest using Chaturbate as a shopping site. You can befriend the guys there and make arrangements to meet in person. Two things though:

1. You need to install a VPN like Hide My Ass to be able to access chaturbate pages while Colombia as most boys block locals to keep how they earn their money private.

2. For the same reasons as above, boys who are actually in Cali often say they are in Medellin or vice versa. Ask where the online model you are interested in is. don't assume his page is accurate. Most use google translate to communicate in English on the page and will need to do so in person as well if you don't speak Spanish.

Well, I just call to Fercho Masajes and they told me they are and will remain open... Of course they have not any show windows and you have to call at the doorbell

Do not go to the west side of the cathedral. You will be mugged. The east side toward Oriental is usually OK. Downtown is fine and pretty safe.

Thanks Tasso for the great advice!!! Will provide on-site report when arrive. Really excited about the trip.

Looking into flying to Bogota in late August over Labor Day and returning around September 11. Perhaps fly into Bogota and spend a few days and then head to Medellin for most of the trip, returning to SEA from there. Flights include rather long layovers. Any suggestions for lodgings? I'm thinking of maybe a short-term rental in the Poblado estrato in Medellin.

Uber is in constant war with the Taxi cartels. On my last trip to Medellin, in October 2016, Uber was working but unofficially so. When I used to app to hail a ride at the airport, I received a text telling me to meet the driver at departures, to sit in the front seat and to tell anyone who asked that we were friends and that he was simply picking me up at the airport. I did so, happily. As, taxis in Colombia seem sketchy to me and I am willing to endure the slight inconvenience for the security afforded by knowing who is picking me up and Uber keeping track of where we are going.

In Columbia there are white cabs for tourists that are very very few, only called by hotels, and a little more expensive than the thousands of little yellow cabs cruising every street. I was warned they sometimes actually rob tourists and dump them so I took white cabs 3 times. The first time was in Bogota going about 3 miles from my hotel to Chapinero. I was charged $15- too much by far but not robbery.

The 2nd time I got a white cab from my hotel to go exactly 10 blocks up the same avenue from the hotel. The address was clear and written down. The driver for some reason took me way up on top of Montserret mountain on a narrow road in the woods and I was actually shaking that I was going to be robbed and killed. I begged him to take me back to the hotel after a half hour of senseless driving on top of the mountain which he did and and asked me to pay him 10K COP for the "effort" which I did and walked where I was going.

10K COP is less than USD$4.  :rolleyes::rolleyes:

I went to club tobi this evening.  The place is big, multi-stories, but with dirty wet floor, dirty walls, pale light bulbs...etc. This place is like a dump compared to the saunas in some other countries, for example, Babylon Bangkok.   And its 20K COP entrance fee is no cheaper than Babylon Bangkok.

Anyways, I decided to sit outside of the massage rooms and observed.   For 1.5 hours, there were only 2 masseurs on duty.  One has beer belly, and was not getting any customers.  The other one was in good shape,  with average looking face.  He got nonstop business.  My conclusion is, the pay for play scene in saunas here is nothing to write home about if you had experienced Brazil.  I don't know where the OP got his "movie star" quality masseur.

There are a few good looking guys  in good body shape, but they are not prepaygos, so good luck if you try to hook up with them.

We cannot control for the "beauty in eye of beholder variable", or for the effects of time on a location, but I think when reviewing specific locations we should at least be transparent about our reference/comparison points, ie, what our global experience is.

Kevin in this case adds credibility due to referencing Brazil and Bangkok.

My experience, outside of strip clubs with private areas, lies in Brazil (5 cities) and Barcelona. I have not accessed escorts through e-sites or schmoozing out in public.

All I can say so far is nothing compares to Brazil. It is worth the considerable extra effort and time.

I've been to the saunas in Rio and of course the number of masseurs there is much better. (I've also been to most of the escort scenes in North and South America and Europe).

When I was there Christian was the best masseur at Club Tobi. On anyone's scale he would be an 8 or 9. Exceptionally good-looking Spanish European blood with a muscled body he worked on when not "working" in the club. An extremely versatile "Marky Mark" looking guy who gives the best head and has an incredibly firm butt.. There are only two giving "massages" at a time at Club Tobi, although off-duty masseurs are working cleaning or the bar and can service customers sometimes. (I find the worst aspect of "massages" in Columbia is having to use the real massage tables for sex ! )

I still think Medellin and Club Tobi are terrific values being so close to Miami. And with the abundance of great looking guys in Medellin I would think a high-paying job like Club Tobi would be sought after. My experience was certainly influenced by visiting the many saunas with "masseurs" in Bogota first. Many more masseurs but twice (at least) as expensive for considerably less action and I didn't see any there more than "passable" out of over 100. ( Medellin has a reputation for good-looking people, while Bogota does not).  The saunas in Bogota are not very clean or pleasant either.

Having availability to Christian and two other good-looking guys at Tobi daily for next-to-nothing made my 4 days in Medellin exceptional. But it is a small number and they don't post photos of the current masseurs.

Thanks, tassojr, you have provided great info on Medellin. For Club Tobi, may be 'right place right time'. One of the sexiest guys at Thermas in Barcelona was Colombian. I am fickle but hooked up with him almost each visit during a week there.

I changed homebase cities predicated largely on a "scene" that subsequently deteriorated ... constancy is everything.

I note that thumper123 has not reported on Nov Medellin trip as promised, and he has no post activity since. I hope he did not run into problems.

Hi guys,  I will be arriving to Medellin next Wednesday.  My first trip to Colombia.  I need some help with:
1.  What's the best currency exchange that offers the highest rate?  I always bring USD with me.
2.  Any hotel or apartment recommendation in Medellin that allows guests. I am a super slut. So I always bring a boy into my room every other hour. ^_^
3.  Taxi advice from airport?

Much appreciation for your responses.

I stayed at the Hotel Gran downtown on Oriental because it was across from the hustler bars. Never found if they allow guests (doubt it) because I never found at guy at those bars worth it. It was a fine tourist type 1 star hotel but I'd certainly recommend the other downtown area (Lauriol?) or even the more-distant tourist area (El Pablabo). There's an elevated train that goes from El Pablabo to the center and taxis aren't too bad. Of course as much as I like Club Tobi I'd just get a place close to them to sleep while they're closed. (Hotel Gran was close).

I always find the best currency overseas is a credit card that has no foreign transactions fees for purchases (many do). Best for cash is an ATM card, especially one that has no fee because it's a partner of your bank. You can ask your bank. For Bank of America I had a partner bank in Medellin with no fee. (Medellin is a banking center for Columbia.) Banks always get the best exchange rates. (the boys will be glad to take your US money, if not credit cards).

Sorry to tell you this but the scariest part of your trip will be that very long taxi ride into town. It goes up and down a huge mountain. Take some motion sickness pills and some sedatives (booze, pot, xanax, etc whatever soothes you), Avoid the small run-down taxis- they're daredevils on that highway. They're twice as bad and that's why their cabs are so beat up.

Let us know if the "house of boys" above is open and please let us know if Christian is still at Club Tobi (or other nice ones). I'd fly to Medellin for a fews days in the sack with Christian anytime. Also check grindr for photos that say "prepaygo"- it means "prepaid" card but hustlers in Medellin always use the term. You can change your location to Medellin while here. If you venture down Oriental to the hustler bars I'd probably not take them back to your hotel first time. There's a gay hourly sex hotel across from the hustler bars. I only found one there that was decent, the bartender across the street, and he was terrible in the sack.

Please report back ! Medellin's harder to crack but worth it.
