I haven’t been to Chile since 1991, right after Pinochet left power. I was with US friends and had a great time. Took the train to Temuco and traveled as far as Puerto Montt. I’m considering a return trip, with perhaps a return visit to BA. Any experience or gay life recommendations for Santiago? I recall that it was a very Catholic and conservative country 28 years ago. I was really surprised when I attended a military parade and the troops were goose-stepping to German marches and wearing Wehrmacht style uniforms!

Yep, that is the very army the CIA helped to take over the government and murder the democratically elected president back in the 70s.

If you are going to Chile, you may be lucky and coincide with one of frequent Carlos' visits to the city. The good thing is that you see to be also planning a visit to Buenos Aires, his home base. In Baires, besides him I can recommend Douglas, a beautiful Carioca who has been living in the Argentine capital for many years.

I returned from Chile 2 weeks ago. It was a work trip, so I didn’t have much time to explore. But indeed it is a very conservative country still.

Grindr works quite well , and there are many boys, I hired a guy from Venezuela and he was amazing. 1.85m , lean body, Vers. Very eager to please. Chileans are not that hot for my taste , but take advantage of the Venezuelans supply ;) . I stayed at Intercontinental, and the receptionist was not happy at all when I asked them to allow the boy to come to my room.

By Grindr I also met a Spanish exchange student (free) , I felt in love , but for him I think it was just a adventurous night =D I have to deal with that.

By the end no Chileans lol but a lot of fun...

Sounds as if Chile hasn’t changed that much, attitude-wise. I was more into girls when I was there and thought the girls were more attractive than the boys. The upper-classes are pretty arrogant, as I recall. I stayed in Las Condes and Providencia.

I've been to Chile many times including living in Santiago from 2002 till 2005.  Very conservative and.....yes....the women are more attractive than the men.  When I was living there, I would go to Montevideo or Sao Paulo for the weekend to find fun and hot guys.  I like the safety and security of Chile....but for hot guys you need to go elsewhere.
