Just put the computer or smart phone away for a while and enjoy the atmosphere and start some conversations. There is so much more to life than escaping it through a computer. [At your hotel, or the Gafae Coffee shop, for example] Then you can socialise whilst in Sunee. There may be some very reasonable exceptions, like people who want to socialise in Sunee, then move seamlessly onto a GayRomeo date? Some of us go to Sunee to find boys and not to chat with other falangs. In that case, who cares if you check e-mail, see what is on GayRomeo or anything else for that matter? Access to the Internet is important to many of us and while I will go without it while I am out most times, the fact that I can pull out my phone and check something from time to time is important to me. As a hobby, I trade currencies and play the markets but seriously guys, being tethered to the internet isn't normal. Turn the smart phone to the silent mode and leave the MacBook or iPad at your home. Life is about experiences and having fun. It isn't about yapping on the mobile all day, checking your mail or getting stock quotes, etc. All that can wait until later. Honestly, you're just not that important! Also, we have a pc on site for those who wish to check emails, stock quotes, etc., and it is also free. Interestingly enough, we find that many times our "in-house" pc actually facilitates conversation. I cannot count the times that a conversation has been halted over a questioned fact while the answer is googled. After googling and getting the scoop, the conversation then continues. Reason I'm asking about wifi is two friends of mine will be staying at Yensabai Condo for 10 days and my understanding is that they only have a monthly rate for internet, maybe I'm wrong about that. So they could use one of the local internet cafes or alternatively check out the internet over a cup of coffee in the morning or a cold beer in the evening. It's a clean little place with free wifi. I've seen many people using their computers there so it must be quite good. I prefer to use mine in my home as the speed is so much faster than free wifi places or internet cafes. Gafae Coffee shop has ice cream, coffee and teas, delicious pastries and serves breakfast and some sandwich selections. Nice to grab a quick bite before heading out for the morning or an afternoon snack. The one drawback for me is that it doesn't open until 9am or so. I guess anyone who wants to execute just one evening trade after an overseas stock exchange opens can still have a fairly good work life balance. However, it's possible to take it too far. Can you have more of those experiences and more fun if you have more money? I think so. For a start more money means you don't have to spend 11 months a year working and can spend much more time in the countries you prefer to be in. Hence my interest in investment. I simply speak into the phone, press translate. Most the guys with limited English seem to enjoy it as they can type in Thai a response if they want. Most questions I ask are usually yes or no though. To have this work though I need network access. WiFi is cheaper and faster. So it can be helpful. PattayaMale showed this app to me a few weeks back and I feel in love. I am not sure which one he uses, but I downloaded Google Translate and works fantastic. I think that is the same one he uses. It is free and it is great to tell a Thai boy what you want. It does need a connection to the Internet to work. I tested this with a Brazilian friend a few days ago and it was PERFECT as well. Yes, of course you can but money shouldn't be your god. Opportunities are everywhere and you don't have to be glued to your computer to partake in them. Last time stayed in Yensabai Condo and i used their internet but never again would pay for it. In 3 weeks only had about 4 days where it was working properly. Mostly to slow and some times for around 24 hours not working and i can not buy internet for " Sorry Sir". Next time will prefer internet shop. I stayed at Yensabai Condo on my last three visits to Thailand. Yensabai Condo rate for wireless internet is 1000 baht per month - 500 baht/week or 100 baht/day. The internet worked fine and was reasonably fast. I also keep a Wireless USB/Sim card which works with Edge in Thailand and is slow but good enough to check emails and Gay Romeo in most places that I travel in Thailand. Google Translator's accuracy is very dependent on the size and quality of the corpus of documents in both languages it has access to - hence English/European and European/European translations tend to be fairly good, Latin American countries with local languages close enough to European Spanish and Portuguese are also fairly well handled however Thai/English translations tend to be fairly poor for anything apart from very basic sentences bkkguy Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Then it is not too far away. Gafae Coffee Shop is just a block or two toward the beach on the same side of the street. Look for the 7-11 sign as it is next door. That 7-11 is either gone or under renovation - It is torn apart and work is being done - not sure what it is going to be when the work is finished.
