I bow before anybody who has a large enough personal data set to say that with any conviction.

So Ellen DeGeneres is thinking about going mean.
caeron replied to RockHardNYC's topic in The Beer Bar
Agree, Jkane. I try hard to be nice most of the time, but everybody wants to be catty and cutting some of the time. I'm sure Ellen is itching to let loose the sharp edge of her tongue sometime. -
"I’m a f**king magnet for gays" He says. Maybe if he stopped dropping the soap so repeatedly in the shower, and instead just asked someone to fuck him properly he'd get his needs met.

Maybe she has enough money and is bored doing the same damn thing all the time? I like her and the show, but watch only rarely. If she does standup, I'd probably seek out the show. -
As if there aren't a lot of people just like him here too... Racism isn't the answer to homophobia.
-
I recall Hart apologizing about these several years ago. He must not have a proper PR person because after the apology was over then these should have all been deleted. I think he just fails to get that once you've shown a racist/sexist/homophobic/whatever side in a big way, you don't get to just make one apology and call it over. You will have to do it repeatedly because it will keep being a thing for people who don't actually pay that much attention to you. I can believe he changed. But doesn't mean he gets to pretend it never happened and that he doesn't have to keep addressing it.

The M4M forums have a long history of uneven moderation. So you can mention boytoy now. Great, but who knows if it will change again tomorrow? Maybe the future there is all rainbows and unicorns. Maybe we'll get another round of biased bans after the next tidal wave of nastiness rolls through. I think the track record makes the second more likely. Personally, I'm of the "fooled me once" school and am not interested in re-engaging over there. But, if you find them valuable and enjoy them, then have at. Nobody is stopping you (well except the random monthlong shutdown...) I do think it's legitimate to warn people about this history over there though, because history does tend to repeat. People who have really been on the receiving end of that uneven moderation and bias are likely to be more vocal about that distaste.

It shouldn't be either/or. Why not both? I've learned late in life to appreciate big, athletic men running into each other and trying to grab each other's balls. I never used to be a fan, but picked it up in my late 40s. Football, however, is the only such team sport that has captured my attention to date....

Indeed. They do get something out of it, no question. I just wish they'd get a fairer share of the revenue they generate. I have no idea how to do that equitably though. Never mind most of these folks probably wouldn't use money given to them particularly wisely. I was pretty financially savvy even in college and I wouldn't have trusted me with a big pot of cash! You are probably better informed than I on the illegal payments too. I do read often enough about illegal payments and the like for the kids, but have no real idea of the prevalence of such arrangements. (I'm not sure I'm really old enough to call these guys kids, but I _feel_ that old some days.)

The college players don't get paid. They're the ones risking health on the field. Staff and colleges get rich off their work. That bugs me. A scholarship seems poor compensation for those risks to me.
-
I prefer professional football where the guys are compensated properly for the risks they're taking. But the insanity of college ball does have its moments!

Be charitable. Pine boxes are a place.

I appreciate that people feel passionately, but I have to call nonsense on this. There have been gay chatrooms since the 80s that far, far, FAR exceed the scope of Hooboy's site. Hooboy made a forum for people who hired male escorts. It was interesting and unique, but it wasn't a 'major gay chat room' and certainly wasn't even remotely close to first. See slate article on soc.motss for perhaps the most influential early forum. Personally, I was on Hooboy's for a while and left. Too much nastiness. (just like the epeening on this thread. give it a rest folks). Never met the man. Heard he was a hoot, and sorry I didn't get the chance. I have some sympathy for Daddy having inherited the nastiness those forums always generated. Not enough to go back or support it though. It never struck me as a sustainable business venture, and I think Daddy has ridden that horse way too long already anyway. I visit his forums but I am not registered and have no desire to participate again.

I am forever baffled by why people feel so emotionally invested in being nasty to other people in forums like this. Can't you just ignore someone who annoys you?

I did have a blast in Rio. I will be going back, not sure when, but a lot of fun. It was more 'raw' than Bangkok, and the guys were super hot. Because the guys were all working it themselves, it had MUCH more of a hustler vibe than Bangkok does. This may fade out some as you become more of a known quantity rather than just the rich foreigner that needs his pockets and balls emptied before he leaves town.

My uber dropped me in the street behind, but I walked through as well.

I agree. I dropped by too early on my way to the airport. I thought it was a very nice layout, and nicely done. Can't comment on the guys, since I was too early on a monday.

Rio and nearby sights: what's fun? What's boring?
caeron replied to caeron's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
Both Paragliding and Hang Gliding are available. Hang gliding tops out at 100KG of weight for most of the companies I looked at, which I'm still a few over. I'm well under the 140kg limit for Paragliding. I used the company Rio Natural Ecotourism to book my flight instructor. They seemed to be a bit cheaper than the others. -

Ok, did the paragliding yesterday while strapped to a handsome guy. Standing there staring off the cliff you know you are going to shortly run off is terrifying, though once you actually do the deed, it is only merely frightening and also pretty amazing. I also did the hike up to Cristo Redentor. I've gotten into pretty good shape in the last couple of years, and it was a pretty grueling 2 hour climb. Some parts of the climb have bars hammered into bar rock so you ladder up. It was also quite muddy and you will be using your hands a fair bit. But you really enjoy the view from the top when know you earned it! it also makes the trip cheaper. I agree with others that Fogo de Chao is a great meal. Not cheap, but excellent. The art museum was a bust for me. some of the photography was nice, but most stuff just not that interesting. A big thing on the history of Samba, but since I don't read Portuguese, and am not really into music that much, a yawner. The roof top restaurant looking out over the water was excellent though! Across the street the naval museum was pretty typical of that sort of thing. Walk around an old sub and an old destroyer. Most interesting part to me was the history of Brazil's involvement in WWII. -
Truly? Is it that rare to start something and have a change of heart? And then decide to just go ahead anyway because that seems less of a problem to you than standing up and walking out in the middle of something that you seemed to consent to a moment before? I'm a lot wiser at my current age than I was then, but 18 year olds make a lot of stupid decisions. I know I did. Or maybe you were never a hot twink that a lot of guys wanted to fuck

Inauguration of Point 202 jacuzzi

Yes, the discussion was relatively discreet. I had only planned on a massage, but he got me too hot and bothered! -
Inauguration of Point 202 jacuzzi

I thought it was slow on saturday night and left and went to 117 which was good. Maybe I didn't wait late enough saturday. I went again last night, monday, and thought it was good. A sweet Venezuelan was the highlight of my evening. Fun drag/stripper show. -
It does. And it even knows a few of the places I'm going, so I can type in the name rather than the address. It leaves me a bit torn. Uber as a company has done some seriously crummy things and I don't use them in the US. But I'm finding them super useful on this global trip I'm on...
-
I'm finding it wonderful because I can just type in the address/place I want to go. avoids me trying to figure it out in my non-existent portguese. Plus, since it all goes on the credit card, I don't have to mess with cash/change at the end, I just get out and go.

On re-reading this, it could be misconstrued to imply that I think he did nothing wrong. I think he was probably a horny a-hole who wasn't really concerned with what she wanted. Not good, but not rape. But like I said to a friend when the Kevin Spacey thing started to break, "We'll know soon, because if it's a pattern, others will stand up and tell their stories too."
