  1. I stayed a couple of times in Sunee in about 2005 . The hotel was called I think “Elephant”. Convenient of course when offing boys from the maybe 12 gogos. It was ok although I remember one night when a bar next door had some sort of party until about 4am. That’s the problem when you stay in the heart of the action. The Thais have only one setting for the sound system - maximum
  2. Thanks guys for your comments about the apps as I mentioned I have had a go with Grindr and have had several “experimental” conversations using it, which mostly have been rather short, as the boy’s inevitable early question is “where are you” and I’m not going to lie, so mostly the conversation goes no further, as my answer is “England”, although on 3 occasions I did get photos of good looking boys. in the “old days” at work using new software there was usually training sessions, but now it seems you have to muddle through perhaps with the help of a local computer “guru”. Perhaps there is a business opportunity for such a guru to setup in BT or the Complex, providing help with Grindr, Blued, Line, WhatsApp etc etc. It certainly would not be me. However good the app, I think I will be spending more time in the bars rather than clicking away on my phone or ipad
  3. I’ve just got Grindr via the App Store and paid for the basic service. I think I must have messed up the installation as I don’t seem to have the functions some refer to, like saving favourites or seeing photos of guys I click on. It seems quite hard to operate. However I have had several experimental conversations in which boys have sent me photos. Obviously they loose interest when they know I’m not in Thailand. But I have seen times when there are quite a few boys of my type online. what experience do other members have of Grindr or other apps. ? Romeo seems just packed with ladyboys and old guys like myself. grindr could be useful to me during my forthcoming trip.
  4. Is it a problem just to get a taxi from the rank at the airport ? Precovid the fare was usually about 1500 baht plus a tip. What are you anticipating ?
  5. During my last trip (2+ years ago) I didn’t find the late night transport Boystown/Sunee to Jomtien or vice versa a problem at all. It was always by motor bike taxi !. Years ago I owned motor bikes so I am confortable being a pillion passenger in Pattaya and have great respect for the skill of the Thai drivers. It always seemed like no time at all from Sunee to Jomtien with the rush of air and the boy holding onto me 3-up on the bike, zooming along the quiet night roads. I hardly ever did it using two bikes. The boys always seemed ok with this arrangement, with me in the middle being able to have footrests in that position. Of course I would never do this if drunk but that is never my condition when offing boys. I don’t think I could cope with this journey using baht busses which is difficult from Sunee though easier from BT. Not good squashed in the taxi with the boy, enduring the stares and the odd remark from tourists.
  6. It seems likely that the karaoke bar that produced all the noise early morning has not yet resumed. Yes the Ambiance’s maze of corridors has given me problems in the past. I believe the restaurent has not yet opened. I am fantasising that my forth-coming trip will be one of nostalgia. Visit places I haven’t seen for 2.4 years, listen to sounds, eat food, maybe sleep with boys from the past. What better place to stay for this than the Ambiance !
  7. I’ve just checked the Ambiance on Booking.com. I entered a stay of 7 nights in a couple of weeks and the price for that starts at 4600 baht. This is for their cheapest room - there are larger rooms going up to 14000 baht for a suite. 4600 is 657 a night - this seems a real, bargain. The place apparently has been refurbished. There are no negative reports on Tripadvisor.
  8. In that area being quiet after midnight is a major advantage. I stopped staying at the Ambiance in Boystown because of the 3 am racket from a nearby Karaoke bar. Thai bars only know one setting of the sound system volume control - maximum. Vinapu - how did you make your reservation at the Classroom ? It seems to be fully booked on Booking.com for most of June.
  9. This thread is rather appropriate for me as I am due in Thailand in 2 weeks time to start my trip initially in Pattaya and see how things develop. During my last 3 trips I have stayed at the Zing and can echo Olddaddys endorsement, that it was, pre-Covid, very good value and gay friendly. It has a reasonable sized pool which is well maintained. In the Complex I have also stayed at the Agate, which was more expensive but still good value. Then there was the Poseidon which I think is 100% gay with no female staff. It’s restaurent has a very good reputation. It had a rather unique indoor pool in which you swim against the pumped current which very much amused my boyfriends. Before I moved to the Complex I very much favoured the Ambiance in BT, which as we all know, is a Gay Pattaya icon, with its confusing maze of corridors in which it’s easy to get lost. If a boy or friend comes to see you there it’s better to meet them at reception, otherwise they could get lost without trace. The only other hotel worth mentioning is the Sansuck Guest House, which like the Baan Souy, is remote from the action, but with a motor bike it could suit some, being part of the sauna complex. As to direct booking against the agencies I was once told by a hotel that you get a better room with direct, but I don’t think this applies generally.
  10. Sounds good - quite a few offs, 5 or 6 drinks, steady customer flow. The news should find its way to Isaan and maybe Cambodia to boys looking for better employment than the rice fields.
  11. Yes Vessey - you have got it in one - our favourite bar - 🤪 he’s obviously wearing that very fetching garment for economy sake.
  12. Love that video clip - especially of the boy in the black g-string.

    Thai Pass

Well Done - you like me, have overcome our inadequacies IT wise and are poised to launch ourselves onto the mercies of Thai immigration (I’ve just booked my flight 20 June on Qatar - despite reading negative comments by other travellers). Things will be different I’m sure when I confront the reality of the places I used to love pre Covid Bkk, Pattaya, Hua Hin etc etc. I just hope I get there without new problems emerging. It should be quieter once there without Russians and Chinese,

    Thai Pass

Thanks Tmax Yes I’ve found the link and completed the process and I now have the registration. Really it was very easy as I do have a basic knowledge of IT but I imagine many without this would find tasks like “finding the link” , “upload your vaccination certificates”, “print out the QR code” difficult or impossible. I used an iPad knowing that using my iPhone for this job would be tricky. AlSo I was lured into a scam website at the top of the Google list which wasted a lot of time. Thailand seems to be more difficult than most countries for tourism with the requirement for this “Thai Pass” with the result that its income from this source is a fraction of that pre-Covid . Maybe it will shortly be abolished.

    Thai Pass

Thanks Vinapu and Londoner. I’ve found what’s wrong. The site I accessed “enter.thaipass.com” is illegitimate. It asks the applicant to send $79 usd - which I haven’t done. I’m notifying action fraud (U.K.). Im looking for the right link now

    Thai Pass

Been trying to get my Thai Pass. Assembled all documents, vaccination, insurance. Hit problem with uploading my passport : I’ve tried copying it, scanning it a number of times . It keeps being rejected whereas the other documents were ok. Don’t know what I can do. Any ideas ?
  19. Occasionally it’s difficult to get the boy to leave. I don’t like getting up much later than 9am, because I normally have a nap in the late afternoon. 9am is far too early for most boys and an hour or two of sleep or tv in a comfortable hotel room, possibly with room service, is welcome for them rather than returning to a hot noisy one shared with others. On the other hand I’ve had them wake me up very early pre-dawn asking for their full long time tip, which results in friction when I take a discount.
  20. I’ve watched several threads on YouTube in which the producers go about the tourist areas of Pattaya making videos whilst walking, on motor bikes and even on a pedal bike. They try to film as many attractive girls as possible who are not wearing much, but are constrained by YouTube censorship. The commentaries express hope for more “opening up” and for more tourists to arrive, and one talked about a landmark being when girlie gogos are allowed topless dancing. I suppose that’s pretty much what us gays are hoping for ! - the day when the boys are on stage in briefs, g-strings etc and are available for offs. Maybe other boy bars will open following Winner’s example.

Good but I will really applaud when gay gogos open with boys dancing in their whities on the inside stages, wanting to be called down to join customers for a possible off.
  22. I’ve used the airport bus quite a few times, but not on cost grounds rather for safety. I find the regular taxi journey a bit scary with the drivers following the vehicle in front too closely and making erratic lane changes. The large buses go at a much steadier speed and arrive only maybe 20 minutes slower at Jomtien. Everyone should be aware of the appalling death toll on Thailands roads. Also saving about 1750 baht gives me a good feeling even though it is eliminated very quickly as soon as I get into a boy bar. as has been mentioned the Jomtien terminus is only a short walk from the Complex where many of us stay. Even if your hotel is in South Pattaya (Boystown) staying on the bus to Jomtien is a good tactic and using the steady stream of baht buses rather than the rip off merchants who wait at the Sukhumvit stops.
  23. Yes they were asking for trouble, but it seems strange that he was not immediately aware that his necklace had been removed. Maybe this was an insurance scam. i have a Collection of gold jewellery which stays back home in a hidden safe . I’ve also a few convincing gold items which I do take to Pattaya which I purchased some years ago in Benidorm. Maybe even wearing those is not a good idea as the necklace could be wrenched off from a motorbike causing me some injury.
  24. Pre Covid I visited Nice Boys quite a few times over the years - the best fun nights were in company with one or more friends . I did not off from there much - The boys at Winner were more of a draw for me, but I liked the raw porn on view (especially Isaan erect cocks) after a few drinks, but the occasional chuck wow contests were a bit too far.
