Great report and reminds me nicely of my trips there - although I laughed as I'm sure at least half of your pics are duplicated almost exactly in my own photo library here, which sort of puts paid to the romantic notion I tend up conjure up in my head when in such places of my being some intrepid world traveller exploring the deep and dusky sites of SE Asia, lone and just a mere emerald find or two away from being Indiana Jones on his last crusade, when in effect I (we) are of course just the next day's eager hoard of western tourists pouring over the same sights that have been photographed by many before us whilst all thinking each particular shot we take is SO thought out and meaningful and unique and special to us lol ( although I guess in some way it IS actually still ). But the beauty of Angkor Wat is of course is that no matter just how tourist trail treadmill our shots may appear to be to the locals they DO still look unique and special to us when looked at back at home as it's just such a magical place. - well in my case for the first few hours then that was enough "culture" for one day and it was time to return to the many "delights?" of Seim Reap of course.

So, unless I've missed it being reported in the western press ( and I have been watching out for it) it seems that the D-Day date of the 3rd of Sept has both come and gone for Mr Voyayuth where he blatantly just didn't show up for court and even after all the huffing and puffing of Thai prosecutors it appears that STILL no action has been taken by them to have him arrested again ( assuming he's back in Thailand) after his sudden illness in Singapore whilst away on business. I mean SURELY someone in Thailand should be screaming about this case now at a very high level as in terms of world wide PR it really is just getting off the scale now in terms of displaying just how much "money talks" in Thailand - unless of course the people who should be screaming are of course perhaps the same people who are benefiting I guess :-( So, where's the free press when you need them ?

Yes but unfortunately the police were called to the scene and low and behold it turns out that actually the accident was all the fault of the one and only farang who was on the plane who was sitting in row 23 reading the paper and minding his own business, so he's been arrested and several senior police officers have been seen going in and out of his cell with scraps of paper with baht figures written on them ! Those pesky farang, the cause of all of Thailand's problems it seems !! lol Who'd of thunk it eh :-)

LINE is very good actually as not only does it let you literally voice chat live and call and chat to your friend for free (as a VIOP call) but you can also send and receive live text chat and it also allows you to sends pictures, videos, audio files, your location info and also your profile info all with the click of one button. The other person and you both have to have the App on your device and then you can do a search for the other persons user name or if they are with you just shake you phones beside esch orther snd it auto transfers your contact info (not iphones strangely which is why many boys claim to have Samsung phones - and not because they are just cheaper :-) you can use transfer info via a QR bar code scanner / reader which like the shaking thing is a good way of getting someone's contact details of you are in a busy club or bsr without having to shout in each others ear, then once added you can use all of the above services all for free. WHAT'S APP is basically the same but the chat runs a bit smoother and you can also send video/ pictures etc in it, but you simply add people by searching their phone number and if they have the App it comes up asking do you want to add them, hence line you may not want to use as it means giving the guy your actual real phine number whereas line is just a user name, but both are very popular with Thai guys and are a great free way of keeping in touch with Thai friends for free should you wish to.

i think the taxis in Bangkok are great, they're cheap and plentiful and most importantly almost for me COLD, there's times I would almost take a taxi round the block just to cool down some days ! lol But the one thing that does surprise me sometimes is the drivers lack of local knowledge re where places are etc, even going from say Tarntawan to Babylon has proved difficult sometimes and that's even after giving them the address written in Thai too ! Mind you the same written directions have also lead to a knowing smile and I "oh yes I go there too sometimes" from one driver I had one afternoon so they're not all bad :-)

Aww great post, I think I'm definitely going to give that a shot on my next trip as something different to do as a break from the norm - plus I'm guessing any Thai boy I bring will absolutely HATE jazz and blues so that will be an added bonus sitting watching him squirm for half an hour putting up with it until I give in and take him somewhere else lol

So, surprise surprise as predicted the guy didn't turn up for his hearing !!! After asking for it to be postponed until the 2nd Sept when his case was due on the 3rd he amazingly "took ill" whilst in Singapore ( couldn't of been THAT sick in the first place if he was able to travel whilst ill first time round mind I guess) But his lawyers have assured the Court that he hasn't actually fled the Country and IS just genuinely sick and that he would be returning to Thailand within the next three days or so - or more like just however long it takes for them to convince him that it's in his long term interests to stand up and be a man and return to Thailand to face justice and not continue to use his money to try and escape justice any longer......or perhaps to give them a little longer to take care of the right people to ensure the right result for him - so watch this space then it looks like but for now it appears that Thai prosecutors appear determined to issue an arrest warrant for him if he doesn't show - so perhaps he has just pissed off one to many people at the top this time, who knows !? I've closed the article now but like you Bob I dint quite get the statue of limitations angle at all, bit I did think that he'd already been charged with "something" a little more serious than speeding and that speeding was a second offence they were throwing at him to either assist their case ( or get some more money for making that disappear too perhaps!) Mind you'll ill have to remember that if I ever get pulled over for speeding that its acceptable to have the trail delayed whilst you engage two expert witnesses and four other witnesses in your defence, somehow I can't see to many courts waiting for you to get all those balls in a line to help you before they agree to proceed !

I don't quite get it as the directors statement to the press states clearly that a) he / they didn't steal the money and run when things were looking bad and also b) that their accounts were fully audited ( I'm assuming by some reputable one of the big three accountants like PWC etc as opposed to jimmy tons accountancy services ltd - we cook your books for 10,000 baht service:-) As if the above IS the case then it WOULD surely have been quite difficult ( but not impossible I accept) for them to siphon off over half the company's yearly turnover in just two or three lifts ( as alleged) and all in the one accounting period without it standing out like a sore thumb in their accounts, as even if he used a (few) bogus companies to assist in that the transaction(s) would still have shown up like a lighthouse in the audit trail if anyone undertook even the most basic oversight check - surely ?
