  1. long term planning indeed, promoting somebody who retires in 1 year. It must be either ego booster or opening window to fat departure bonus on retirement. Or both
  2. with all those temples , waterfalls, hills and rivers it's actually plenty to do there at Luang Prabang
  3. that's impressive indeed
  4. you are quite jumpy for old man
  5. while you are right which easily can be proven by watching how many people order food on those flights without free meals , don't forget about those with long connections or long commutes to the airport who find food in airports both expensive and barely edible so yes , sometimes I ate because I was hungry indeed. And generally we humans like to utilize whatever is given to us for free.
  6. in meantime we proletarians are crowded in the cattle class in the back are still fed something , usually edible, oblivious to the deprivations suffered but those rich and (usually) overweight at front or upper deck but consoled by the fact we all arrive more or less at the same time and all in one piece.
  7. perhaps better to leave him alone
  8. I recall seeing some ad for business class stating ' you will be served meal at time of your choice", don't recall which airline but it was not Air Gambia
  9. I understand you need to tap twice, when entering system and when leaving it so proper fare is collected ? some people have all luck in life !
  10. Very valid point.
  11. we can't blame sons for their fathers sins. Can't son of serial rapist become cancer cure discoverer?
  12. it needs to be said that in last years they did impressive job building web of public transit on rails. For tourists gives an option of exploring Bangkok's nooks and crannies otherwise less accessible. Next steps- integrated payment system and Latin letter directions on the busses (on some they are already, I know ). I understand that all those 30 days free rides are not coming from government soft heart but are enshrined somewhere in the law.
  13. glad to learn you guys were busy at work there
  14. fully agree, in reality how much we need to eat if we sit on the plane doing nothing for 10-15 hours ? I'm slowly coming to the stage when I will we asking them NOT to wake me up for a meal if I happen to be sleeping when they serve. It happened on my last two longish flight and I was upset at myself I did not do it since sleeping on the plane is rare feast for me.
  15. You are watching porn again ! You were supposed to paint kitchen
  16. let's not overreact. highly corrupted country would be one where you arrive with valid visa and border guard still asks for bribe to stamp you in. Or pilot refuses to take off if passengers don't chip in. Or they tell you there's no penicillin in the pharmacy but when you put proper note on the counter and say "keep the change" it miraculously appears from under the counter. I haste to add those my personal experiences accumulated over the years.
  17. you are not alone. I see that as well so now miles accumulation is just by-product of flying. If they credit something I take it, if they don't , no harm done.
  18. you must be on wrong side of history or something
  19. no, usually I ask them 'how much do you want ?", rarely it's other way around ' how much you give me?"
  20. chosen one will get few of those in the room
  21. try purple 500 , then you learn what stampede is
  22. golden words. but what is good in this case is that neither public nor media seem to forget about it and is still on the burner.
  23. and more cement poured on oversized stations
  24. I saw it but it looks Thais side is not that keen afraid it may put country into debt like Laos. Certainly Thai railways need upgrade but whether it must by high speed type needs to be carefully considered. Country doesn't have few multimillion metropolis like Japan or China has so stream of passengers may not support expense
