Day 9 CB perhaps sensed competition as his mood today Is completely different, nice to observe he become his former self. Day 8 Good night sleep proved priceless. At 8.20 I woke up , refreshed and went to Unesco acclaimed Foodland for breakfast and chat with reader, our former poster. Upon returning to the room some news from CB, guy who was supposed to carry him over border declined a job , but CB’s his friend in similar situation is flying to Phnom Penh on Friday morning and he asked if I can buy him a ticket for the same flight. As Obama would say ‘ yes I can” , fired up my smartphone and in few minutes we had ticket, slightly under 80$ one way. He was not very happy with such arrangement as he still needs to travel about 5 hrs to his home town but at least that is solution to closed land borders. I was happy because it was cheaper option that one previously tabled. Still it seems it’s hard to get him to be bit more intimate today so seeing that I decided to go for a walk which handily brought me to Arena, what a coincidence I’m telling you ! Day 7 Clearly all that border situation is depressing my CB. I went for breakfast to Foodland alone as he wanted to sleep more. Upon return he was up but of course on his phone fishing for news. This afternoon we will be parting ways as I have guest coming. This was announced in advance two day ago and repeated yesterday so there’s no surprise. We had good time and both boys took turns to make sure I have somebody to hug at hand . It looks that I built karma as none of them had recent off . CB did his best not to join us unfortunately, immersed in his smartphone. Before 2 am we emptied beers , polished snack boxes so guys decided to go. I offered them 1000 each for their time but their grimaces were clear that it’s Scroogy so I gave them each 500 more and that was better received indeed. Day 6 After breakfast at Foodland we had mixture of steam and boredom in the room as CB clearly was hooked to his phone and seemed to constantly check something there so whenever I tried to be more personal so to speak , after while it was clear his mind is somewhere else. Good thing I, liking him , endured quietly until he finally spilled the beans . Cambodian Prome Miniter closed all land crossings with Thailand and asked Cambodians in Thailand to return home. That was reason he seemed so uneasy. At noon we left our room in Nishitetsu and walked to Raya, hoping room will be available as they are known for not allowing check in before 3. Not this time, room was ready so we settled in and parted ways . I went to Sizzler at it’s new location in Park Silom for buffet salad lunch with Christian PFC and CB went to meet somebody who would transfer him trough the border in few days when his 7 day stay expires instead of leaving immediately as asked by his Prime Minister. Real mess politics created for those guys I must admit. Salad bar at Sizzler is not just greenery , for 199 ( Christian even managed to get some coupon for 40 baht off) is not only vast selection of veggies but also pasta and soups, in short one can have real meal for relative peanuts. We had good time eating and chatting as always. When I returned to the room CB was still absent but he has own card so we agreed we are free to come and go as we need. I decided to wait for him doing some house keeping in meantime and did my daily money count – amazingly this is my day 6 and all I can’t account for is 28 baht. He showed up clearly hungry – ‘eating ‘was his first word upon entry . He seemed to be in good mood but instead on cashing in on it off to Foodland we went for a meal, I just had my chicken rice soup for 62 baht which is my meal of choice when I’m not that hungry but accompany somebody who is. Back in the room he told me somebody will help him through the border on his last day for 2500 so no need for him to leave immediately. So we celebrated good news where anybody reading it expects – in the shower and in the bed ( and then in the shower again ). Goes without saying I secured his good performance by offering to fork out that 2500 for that ’ helper ‘. Evening saw us at G’s and then we crossed the soi to visit Banana Club where CB was recognized by some staff and boys and shamelessly I must say , so did I .
