almost the same here. I tip waiter 20 baht per trip to my seat. He brings me drink , it's 20 , he brings drink to boy I invited 20 minutes later, another 20. But when I order another round for both me and boy or I'm visiting bar with somebody and drinks are on me , it will be still 20 , even if he actually brings 2 drinks. If waiter taking order is the same who is bringing it , money will land in his palm. If that's different guy, money will go to the folder. Almost religiously I try to have always exact change so there's no misunderstanding. Mamasans generally are not getting tip unless I enlisted their help or are actually providing nice conversation which sometimes happens, again , usually with ones who recognize me from before, then it's 50-100. every 7/11 or family Mart will carry those prominently displayed by the cash registers, no need to look for pharmacy, plenty of those as well. In Silom / Patpong / Suriwiong area this is last of your worries and absolutely no need to be shy , they saw it all , most likely in the last 15 minutes

this is precisely why I almost never use credit cards when I'm travelling. Learned my lesson many years ago when I was stuck in Montreal, Canada without cash and with blocked credit card and only kindness of strangers took me to the airport and even treated me with some sandwich. Never again. Cash is the king and my best friend when travelling. What is better than wad of banknotes ? Two wads of banknotes

After all it's guys , all, twinks , hunks and all between and only them who really know their market value and what market pays them. we can observe only that much when visiting bars, unless one camps in the bar night after night , from opening to closing, we have only vague idea of how often buys are offed and really nothing of how much those offs are generating for them. Boy may be sitting with 5 customers over the night and treated with 5 drinks but may be tipped for his efforts pretty stingy, like 20 baht a sitting , another one seems abandoned and glued to his phone but client who was sitting with him perhaps 5 minutes could leave him 500 baht as a tip.

no harm done, it may feel awkward but places and guys are used to it , I witnessed it many times and never noticed any nasty grimaces or comments, . maybe just ' him no like" or " him shy". Best excuse , if somebody needs one is to pat yourself on empty pocket and say ' I forgot money" - that part everybody will understand.
