I live alone at home in the UK, but on holiday I hate to eat alone. Whichever boy is with me when I feel hungry I invite to eat with me, be it breakfast, an afternoon snack or evening meal. More recently the other half of my stay has been in the Zing, in Jomtien Complex, a more recognisably gay-friendly hotel. Not that I use their restaurant much (reminds me of the canteen at my old school), instead I take my friends to whatever bistro or restaurant I fancy. Again, never an issue with anyone. Even when some of my boys are only breaking 20, and I am now 70. So my advice is, if you want a boy companion at your breakfast table, just do it and enjoy it!

I recently stayed eleven nights at the Zing hotel and finished every night with a visit to M Bar. Named after Mama M, who previously was the mamasan at Cupidol in BOyzTown, she is great fun, if a little overbearing at times, and skilled at extracting every last baht from your pocket before you tip out of the bar at say 1am or 2am in the morning. The shows here are at 10pm and midnight, the latter being a little more raunchy, largely, I suspect, because the boys (of which there are a great many) have soaked up enough boy-drinks to feel less inhibited. You are going to get more flashes of bums and cocks with the midnight towel dance, and the boys also know that their 'accidental' flashes get bigger tips haha. Thanks guys, now I am clear of the hotel in question. I have stayed there three times including a couple of weeks last month in September. I would describe it as a gay-friendly hotel, rather than a gay hotel. I have seen a variety of fellow customers there. I have had various rooms across the hotel, and never once have I been troubled by noise from the Complex bars. It sits along the 'quiet' arm of the complex. Its closest bar is M Bar just outside to the right. M Bar is very popular at the moment with nightly shows at 10pm and midnight, and stays open until 1 am or even 2 am if customers like me are still spending coin. As to 'fun' within the hotel itself I have never seen any sign of that, although to be fair I have never looked for it. I have taken boys swimming in the main swimming pool who have played around and generally enjoyed themselves, but nothing 'naughty'. Plenty of opportunity for 'fun' in the complex itself. I have have only stayed in the cheaper end rooms of the Zing, but I have no complaints. Rooms clean, water hot and beds comfy

Given the countless thousands of massage shops across Thailand, with Thai as well as farang customers, this smacks of unrealistic public posturing by politicians rather than any credible attempt to change ingrained popular culture. A steady flow of customers encourages a stage-full of near naked boys who get drinks and offs, which in turn encourages the customers to come in, etc. etc. My little spies in the bar say that there is also a steady flow of 'new' boys to bolster and refresh the numbers on stage each night. And, ironically, drink prices at Toyboys and BoyzBoyzBoyz are eye-wateringly high compared to their neighbours.

A new bar opened yesterday in the Jomtien Complex on the main arm of the complex in part of what was Dolce Vita restaurant, and adjacent to the snicket there that leads towards the Zing Hotel.
