I think the risk of the host cancelling on you is very small. Any Superhost cancelling will loose the Superhost status (for a while) and if a host has cancelled on other guest(s) before it will show in the reviews; i.e. hosts would be reluctant to cancel. No need for a backup hotel plan only based on the risk of your host cancelling. That would be overthinking it IMO.

Many thanks for the detailed report. I'm impressed by the number of non-sauna things/venues you did as a first timer and (presumably) without speaking Portuguese. Just for the records about sauna going rates: Unless it has dramatically changes since my visit 1 year ago, the going rate is 150 for a session, around 30min or so (not including gozar). 200 if you want the GP to cum. My experience was that in Rio most guys would offer these rates straight away/no negotiation needed whereas in (new) Lagoa many would aim a bit high with their initial offer (maybe because they see that you are new to the venue) but open to settle on a lower price if you make a counter offer. To give a few coins or a small note (but certainly not a 50 note) to the towel guys is a nice gesture. However, the guy at 202 was a bit too pushy for my liking.

When you go a sauna in CO you are there to have (free) sex with other guests, i.e. your odds will be much better if you are young, fit, handsome or well endowed. The entrance fee is quite low (15-25 mil pesos?) so you could just go there to hang out, have a beer and enjoying the ambience/setting without the expectation of having sex (admittedly, I can't recall having non-paid sex in Colombian sauna, but I'm also quite reserved and picky + not the type of guy I described above). If you are there to get a hj, bj, fingered (and even more) and close your eyes/doesn't care about the type of guy servicing you, you will have good time. As stated above there will often be 1 or 2 masseurs available on site for massage and fun; you can spot these guys often wearing T-shirts and doing cleaning/maintenance work in the sauna or hanging around the reception when no customers for massage. Often they will approach you soliciting their services if they see that you are interested in them. Or just ask at the reception about the guys available/on call for massage. In my experience a massage and sex is 120-150 mil pesos (1 hour or slightly less). A "massage only" session is much cheaper, 50-60 mil pesos. It may be slightly more expensive in Bgta, Medellin and Cartagena.

Parque de Bolivar in centro Medellin/the park in front of the cathedral. Those are the guys you should be looking for! (drug addicts, skaters, unemployed, homeless etc hanging around Parque de Bolivar in the afternoons). The guys there are not doing obvious hustling and it doesn't seem to be their purpose of going to the parque but they seem to be aware of why some mature gentlemen go to the parque. Some of the guys will see you as an opportunity to earn some quick and much needed cash. Some are more outgoing and experienced than others; most likely it is the former that (sometimes) will approach you and strike up a conversation if you seem interested. Admittedly, patience and some luck will be needed as well, i.e. being at the right spot at the right time. You shouldn't go to the parque with the expectation of handsome and tidy gym fit or muscle guys lined up, smiling and soliciting their services; it is more subdued and as stated before the guys will be on the rough side (I mean personal hygiene, clothes etc) i.e. far from what you find in Gigolo Erotic House/Garage gogo bar, Mileroticos website or Brazilian saunas, so it is def. not for all/many of the readers in here.

Indeed Pereira or similar Colombian towns are a bit cheaper than Bgta and Cartagena. But still the prices in Bgta, Medellin and Cartagena are far lower than in D R. Actually, most prices are lower in S D than in tourist areas like Punta Cana and Puerto Plata. This also applies to rent guys (rates in Punta Cana are considerably more higher)

Your assumption is correct. Having visited both countries within the last 7-8 months, including Pereira, I confirm that Colombia in all aspects are much cheaper than D R. Roughly speaking D R is double price. As for the quality of guys for hire I would rate them equally. If your preference is black/dark skinned rough guys with big dicks you will like D R. Paisa chicos are different (light skinned and many will say more handsome) and yes, some have big dick as well ofc

Hmm...the location is 3 blocks west of Ave. Caracas. This is not good barrio and is normally to be avoided; if you ask locals in Chapinero many will not venture on the other side of Ave Caracas as it is not considered safe. Once I visited a guy a few blocks to the North the location you refer to and I would def. not walk in that area after sunset; deserted and spookey; very different from Chapinero on the other side of Ave Caracas. At least take an Uber to the location.

Just ask the guy to send a pic of his ID. Young guys know that it is an issue and have no problems sending it to you to verify their age; if he is not prepared to do that it is good reason to discontinue the chat immediately. Based on my recent visit to S D.

I wanted to add some comments on Apolo Spa/sauna based on my recent Sunday afternoon visit for the foam party which was great fun. The entrance fees have already been covered above. It is 600 pesos on Sundays (but including a pair of nice trunks (underwear) from the collection for sale). The guy in the reception is indeed very good looking/handsome. I arrived around 4:30PM. Downstairs are the section for changing clothes with lockers and the main room with the bar and the jacuzzi in the corner. A DJ was playing but only a few quests downstairs. Upstairs it was quite busy - 2 saunas (1 wet and 1 dry), dark room, video room and the cubicles with glory holes/cabins (and shower/toilets of course). I was chatting with a local guy in one of the saunas and he gave information about the venue which is apparently the only of its kind in D R. According to him, the best day is Sunday late afternoons as the sauna has theme parties and stripper(s) coming. Later I joined him and his group of friends downstairs which in the meantime had become much busier. Great music from the DJ and the bar was selling quite a few beers (the local Presidente is great, even the light version, 200 pesos) and drinks. A lot of hot local guys there (i.a. young and fit) and hardly no visitors (not that I could spot). So a lot of eye candy. You walk around in your underwear (speedos or trunks) or shorts; I can't recall any with towels only. The stripper came at 6 PM downstairs. Nothing spectacular but he showed off his hard dick and gave the audience a chance to grope (and obviously hoping for a tip). Soon after the foam started pouring down from the ceiling and everyone started dancing and groping in the foam; many guys took off their underwear/speedos/shorts on the dance floor. Certainly not shy; great fun. Guests were going back and forth between the foam downstairs and the cruising upstairs. Some action in the dry sauna as at least on 2 occasions I saw 1 or 2 guys sucking others. The dark room (pitch dark so a bit uncomfortable for me) was also busy with a lot groping going on. It was very busy upstairs and in general guys where coming and leaving the sauna all the time. At 8 PM the foam party had ended and most had left. So did I. There is one on calle 52 near the Palace of Culture in the city center. Almost next to the Bancolombia cajero on calle 52 but I can't remember its name, sorry. Look for the little sign with prices on the wall just inside the open door to the street /calle 52; take the stairs to the first floor. (Price is 15 mil for short term use). The boys from Parque de Bolivar /the park in front of the Cathedral, know it (it is 5-10 min walk from the parque)

Nice. The caretaker could be Mr. Diego in Edificio Maria Antonia. I stayed in room 207 (or 208; I can't remember). Was happy with the room to the back. No issues with quests.
