Saunas that have rentboys in Medellin and Bogota
speedoo1 replied to Kvaughn's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
Bogota: There are no saunas with rentboys like in Rio or SP. But there is a sauna on the opposite/front side of Theatron club in Chapinero (I forgot it’s name, you need to look carefully when walking by to find it) with boys and massage (60 mil for the massage and presumably 50 mil for extras, but to be negotiated of course) - and there is St Moritz sauna (same building as Gigolos Erotic House in Chapinero) with the same concept. (No first hand experience but this is what I researched during my recent trip) Medellin: Sauna Club 55 gets going on Fridays-Sundays (and with a lot of eye candy, i.e young lean/fit guys) but it is traditional gay sauna (with no sex for pay/rent guys AFAIK) so if you are not young or have a fit/gym body etc you will most like not have any luck with the guys of your desire there (there will be plenty of other similarly looking guys for them to play with, so no need to engage with mature and less fit foreigners). Nevertheless, it is a nice experience and worth the time, but don’t go there with the expectation of having sex with handsome, gym fit or muscle guys. I was told at the reception that particularly Sunday afternoons are busy with a turnover of 150-200 guys going there on a Sunday; I was there a Saturday afternoon last month and it was quite busy with all kinds of guys (age, body type etc) and a lot (private) action in the many cabins on the second floor (and in the dry and wet sauna on the first floor). Entry is 23 mil. -
No first hand experience, but most likely not (in particular if you booked a room for two). During my recent visit to Pereira I stayed at hotel in the city centre (nothing fancy) where it was published at the reception that any guest going to the room - for more than 15min would be charged 25,000 COB (and indeed it was!)

There are several nice Airbnb apartments in Laureles. Example: San Peter Apartments near Ave San Juan (which will take you right to Centro) and almost on Carrera 70, the main/busy "going out" street in Laureles with bars. restaurants etc. The area is considered safe.

From my trip 3 years ago, I had no issues walking around the city center at day; also around the cathedral and Parque Bolivar - which was actually closed/fenced off at that time - but from reading the warnings in here I didn't walk the streets west of the Cathedral. Homeless people and drug addicts will mind their own business. Obviously, you need to be aware of/look out for pickpockets. It was OK for me and much more interesting area than El Poblado, but maybe it is just me. I also walked past the cathedral on the way to the hustler bars in calle 57 one evening, but I agree with the previous posters that this zone should be avoided after dark; even for me it was bit too rough. Plaza Botero and Parque Berrio, however, are fine at night. A lot of people there - and heavy police presence as I recall it. The area east of the nearby main road, Ave. Oriental, also seemed fine to me. -
Hmm. From my visits last year not many escorts will accept 60-70 EUR for 30 min (out or in-call). Many will reply that they don't do 30min (only an hour) and standard rate seems to be 100 EUR and upwards for 1 hour (at least for gym fit/muscle guys). I'm not saying that you might be lucky to find guys who are desperate for cash and willing to accept a lower rate, but I would fear that their physical appearance and/or the services may not meet the expectations of the customer.

Skip Malaysia hotel. Too basic and seedy IMO. There are better choices up Soi Si Bamphen (the street that ends at Malaysia hotel, Ibis hotel and the 7/11 on the corner). Ibis is okay, the Aim Sathon is also good but I found the Tivoli hotel further up Si Bamphen (5min walking from Malaysia hotel) to have nice and quiet rooms; visitors is no issue. There are several good restaurants in this soi.

Thanks - will be in Medellin for the second time next month. So there is no/little point in visiting calle 57a? 3 years ago I found the short street quite "dead" but I might have been there at the wrong day/too early in the evening. When to schedule a visit? The advice is still not to venture westward on calle 57 (past the cathedral) at night? -
Summer trip set, Colombia + Brazil
speedoo1 replied to endlessdream's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
I read somewhere that some airlines are suspected to ask for YF vacc. proof when flight is overbooked or seats are needed, as they know that there will always be some unvaccinated pax at check-in. I witnessed it myself at the GRU check-in counters for a AV flight to BOG. -

I got the YF vaccination for free in BOG airport 3 years ago. Landside, not airside/in transit area. Apparently still available also for foreigners. It was very quick/efficient, 5min max. I showed my yellow vaccination passport/booklet and the doctor made an entry in the booklet. Over and done with. I was asked for proof of YF vacc. when flying from GRU to BOG some time ago, so when traveling from Brazil til Colombia it is needed. -
From my experience (two vists last year) it around 5PM to 7PM. At lunch time I would expect it to be very quiet. I thought Thermas opens at 3PM....

hmm...when I was in Budapest in Oct there were plenty of hot guys advertising in Hunqz. Yeah, some guys desperate for money will settle for 10-15,000 HUF but most guys will charge higher than that. You can ask if they have lower rate for 30min; many will offer that upon request. Gym fit/musle hot guys (many will be used to traveling to Zurich, Vienna etc for work so they know their market value) will charge 100-120 Euro an hour. Above is based on my Oct 2021 observations from staying a few days in Budapest.

In some countries it will not prevent the hotel from collecting a "joiners fee" or the equivalent when you bring a local guy/girl to the room. I have no idea if this is practised in Brazil or CO; I doubt it. -
Should be possible if taking an Uber straight to Club 117 or Pointe 202 (Club 117 is actually closer to the airport, but I can't remember how it is on a Friday night). If you get there by 9 PM you should be fine, even by 10. There is a shower room next to the locker room for clients downstairs. No need to freshen up before arriving the sauna. Saturdays should be okay at Club 117; at least it was when I was there in April. They showed a local football match (I forgot the details) on the big screen in the outside smoking area/bar which was very popular with the local guys/GP.

I agree, In Brazil you will be asked all the time if you have CPF, e.g. at pharmacy, when buying SIM card for phone, signing up for Itau bike rental, etc. You don't need to print anything. Just remember of write down the number if you don't know numbers in Portuguese.

Is Avianca Business Class Worthwhile?
speedoo1 replied to Lucky's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
Unless significant savings, you should take a direct flight to GRU, also to avoid the hassle of a transfer at BOG. I traveled with AV between GRU and BOG pre-covid on A330 with non-flat business seats (actually, the seat was OK and I slept on the red-eye service to GRU) but the soft-product/service is below par compared to other carriers; disappointing IMO. As stated above, you need proof of yellow vacc. when boarding a flight from Brazil to CO (unless only in transfer at BOG). -
Hmm... don't expect rent guys to be cheap in Zurich/Switzerland. Probably the most expensive country in Europe to hire guys (admittedly, no first hand experience so only my assumption). There is a reason why guys from all over Europe flock to Switzerland to try their luck there.

Budapest, Vienna, Bratislava (Slovakia), Brno (Czech)?
speedoo1 replied to 12is12's topic in European Men and Destinations
I was at Magnum Sauna in Budapest in Oct. last year. It was Saturday late afternoon so quite busy. It is not a sauna with rent boys like in Barcelona or Brazil so don't go there expecting a lot of young muscle guys waiting for you (and your money). As I recall the crowd it was all ages, body types etc nevertheless I found a lean guy of my liking into mature guys with dad bod/small belly and wanting to suck and get fucked, so all good. -

why usd to reais is so weak
speedoo1 replied to babybear2's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
Most Airbnb listings in Brazil have higher rates for high season in February than in June-Aug. so I would expect your rate in Reais to be lower for the summer than what you paid in February, however, due to the unfavourable exchange rate you actually see it as a rate increase. To check you would need to select rates to be listed in Reais rather than your currency in the Airbnb app/webpage (but you may not have access to how your Airbnb listing was priced in Reais in February if you paid in your currency). Admittedly, it can't be ruled out that Airbnb hosts are using the current stronger demand for travel and accommodation to adjust their rates upwards (in fact very likely). -
why usd to reais is so weak
speedoo1 replied to babybear2's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
At least for Airbnb the host will enter the price in local currency (rather than USD or EUR) so the guest will have to pay more (in foreign currency) when e.g. Reais get stronger. Hence Airbnb apartments in Brazil have become more expensive based on the unfavourable exchange rate alone. As for hotels, it might be correct, however, I doubt many hotels will accept to receive fewer Reais for a hotel room just because Reais is getting stronger, so it will enevitably lead to hotels rooms getting priced higher (in foreign currency). -

This is spot on. 3-4 PM would be a bit early. Most guys will accept Eur 50 but ask for more if you want them to cum. -
Pointe is my favorite sauna at present time
speedoo1 replied to Tomcal's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
Just resurrecting this old thread with 2022 update: Club 117 is still very popular and busy on Tuesdays because of the free cabins. Closed on Mondays. Wednesdays are very busy at Pointe 202 because of the same free cabin promotion. Many Club 117 garotos will come to Pointe 202 on Wednesdays. I suppose Mondays are also busy at Pointe 202 (because Club 117 is closed). Pointe 202 is closed on Sundays. There was no waiting time for the (free) cabins at neither Club 117 nor Pointe 202 on the days I was there in March. Club 117 is easily accessible from Copacabana. Just take the metro to Gloria (6 stations from Siqueira Campos/Copacabana) and it is less than 5 min walk from there. Metro ticket price is now 6,5 BRL; you can enter the metro by using a VISA contactless card so no need to queue up to buy ticket. Actually Gloria/Lapa/Santa Teresa are more charming than Copacabana IMO and well worth a visit/sightseeing, Centro is deserted on weekends and should be avoided. -
why usd to reais is so weak
speedoo1 replied to babybear2's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
Most likely due to the war in Ukraine and oil prices going up significantly. High oil/gas prices and strong demand (Russia has been banned by many countries/companies) boost the confidence in Brazilian economy and investors are buying BRL. .Prepay your hotel/Airbnb condos and exchange cash to BRL in your home country in advance. -
Another newbie in Brazil - March & April 2022
speedoo1 replied to Taikonaut's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
For 150 BRL you can't expect the guy to "gozar" at Club 117. That would be an add. 50 BRL = 200 BRL. From your description of him it doesn't sound like he would have to go below going rate to get the deal done. -
As a reference /data point I bought generic Sildenafil at a pharmacy in SP. Package of 4 50mg pills at 17 BRL/package, so very reasonable. No questions asked at the counter (except that I was asked for my CPF, which I don't have but nevertheless I received a discount of around 30% - I thought it would require a CPF to get such discount).
