  1. And then wait for the U-turns
  2. Thanks gerefan. Maybe I was a bit over sensitive thinking 'don't shoot the messenger'. I thought it was worth posting because it was put up before the CCSA meeting had finished and was still there throughout the day. I had a message from one of the soi4 owners late last night pointing out that several 'news outlets' had different interpretations/rumours of the announcement from each other. They think all will become clear on Monday.
  3. Yes we know that. And your point it?
  4. There was a post today from Telephone Pub saying that starting tomorrow they will be open from 16:00 till midnight with a full food and drinks menu. Thence Thursday to Sunday inclusive. Wishful thinking?
  5. I watch, every day, the summary in English of the CCSA press conference meetings. I can't quite work out why the presenter stresses that the high amount of daily infections (today 756) is not necessarily bad news. I can only assume that what he refers to as 'active case finding' refers to some sort of 'track and trace' system where many more tests are being done and it therefor follows that there will be far more infections detected than without testing. Two things I would be interested in seeing --- 1) data to show how many cases have been spread due to alcohol drinking at public places and 2) what is Thailand's 'R' number.
  6. I'm waiting for the "I didn't say that at all" statement. At least, as a P.R. holder I hope so.
  7. From 'Phuket News' this morning. Phuket Immigration Deputy Chief Col Nareuwat Putthawiro told The Phuket News that his office has not received any such order from the Immigration Bureau main office in Bangkok or from higher-ranking officers at the regional headquarters in Songkhla. “We do not require any medical documents for an application to renew a visa, because there are few foreigners’ movements outside Phuket. Most of them live and work in Phuket, and have done so before the new wave of COVID-19,” Col Nareuwat said. “So they [foreigners] do not have to worry about it. Everything is still the same,” he added. Col Nareuwat also noted that his understanding was that a COVID-19 test was still not required for foreigners to renew their work permits – a formal permit issued by the Employment Office that overlaps with many immigration applications. And in another post " From the Phuket Chief of Immigration Police :- “I apologize for the misunderstanding,” Maj. Gen. Archayon said. “It will only apply to certain types of visa, most likely the permanent resident visa.” “I apologize for the misunderstanding,” Maj. Gen. Archayon said. “It will only apply to certain types of visa, most likely the permanent resident visa.”
  8. Wasn't that bar owned before or after the American by Monty.
  9. No but he did blow his hairdryer down my shorts one time
  10. Agreed about Nicky. He's not the fastest hairdresser in the world but who cares? Slow because he is a perfectionist. He also has incredibly long fingers and we all know what that means ------- big gloves.
  11. Cutey and Beauty now known as C&B Gentleman's Barber is on Patpong 2, upstairs above Screw Boys and next to Hotmale (I think). The stylist is the lovely Burmese Nicky who can't speak a word of English but who cares? He uses Yee (?) the Burmese assistant from UP2 for translations. A cut is 400 Baht but I'm not sure if that includes a shampoo or not. They are closed on Sundays and on other days close at six. I had my last 3 cuts there and am more than happy. I send a message for an appointment to make sure that Nicky is on duty.
  12. Anybody go to the Banana Room Club opening night last night? Is only show-bar or also gogo?
  13. Banana Bar now posting rehearsal videos (singer) on Facebook. Saying Opening soon.
  14. Afraid not. The outside terrace has been open for ages but the inside has been gutted for a long time. I looked in last night and they have just started the renovation with the skeleton of tiered seating on the left hand wall.
  15. ??? Government spokesman Anucha Burapachaisri said on Wednesday the cabinet agreed to extend the emergency decree for another month.
  16. Yes but that was the EMERGENCY decree for Bangkok. Yesterday (Wednesday 27th of Oct.) the cabinet agreed to extend the general emergency decree till the end of November.
  17. Sensible.
  18. Yes quite common. They will have a corkage charge. But they frown somewhat on bringing your own food
  19. As far as I know, Jupiter opened every night when all the other bars opened.
  20. Oh. I do hope it will be before then for you. I'll buy you a drink in Balcony.
  21. If you look at the menu section on the PRIDE website, there are still many tapas and Spanish items.
  22. Hello again anddy, TAPAS had a bit of a history. It is all a bit fuzzy in my memory now. TAPAS was originally where Banana BAR is now. Then somehow the little bar called Sugar Bowl (or something like that) was involved. Then Spanish on 4 became called TAPAS and there were two TAPASs in the soi. Eventually, the original Tapas became Banana. Well it was all something like that but as I say 'it's all a bit fuzzy'. Maybe someone cal recall more clearly.
  23. Hi anddy, I asked around the soi last night and indeed it is a refurbishment and will open as a gogo bar next month (the upstairs Banana Room Club is the same owner as Welcome Pub opposite Balcony). Further good news, part of the soi is in for a bit of brightening and livening to happen soon, about the same time as the Grand Opening of PRIDE on the 20th of this month.
  24. I do hope that this is not true. Months ago I was informed that there would be a big refurb in Banana and Banana Room Club at this time. I imagined that the gogo upstairs would be coming downstairs. I was told that the re-opening would be in October. I'll look for more info tonight.
