  1. Thanks, MsGuy. The Yankees have really put their fans through the wringer these past few weeks,so finally getting a wild card berth is some relief. Now they have to get out of their slump and prove themselves to be true world champions. I am sitting here is a Priceline bought hotel in Michigan, where I am visiting my almost 93 year old mom in a nursing home. She was quite happy to see me, and proud for all the other ladies to take notice of her visitor. That's the easy part. The tough part is spending several hours a day with a person that doesn't have a real grasp of reality. On a previous visit with her, she slept a lot, but not now. Now she talks, endlessly, and about things I have no idea of. I don't what time frame of her life she is in in the particular moment, so answering the questions often provokes wonderment on her part as to how I could have possibly given that answer. Further, she has no idea where she is and wonders why there are other people in her room. But the officer is coming and he will straighten it out...of course, there is no officer. At times she does make sense. A lifetime devout Catholic, she now refers to some doubt, and acknowledges the doubt that her children developed. Her solution to that is the wonderment that it was her faith that brought her her family, which is now her greatest possession and comfort. Can't argue with that. I know that so many of you have already gone through this experience, so you know what it is like. A mix of pleasure and pain, for sure.
  2. Apparently it pays to fight a foreclosure as the paperwork is too often not correct. Here's a very long, but good, look at the problem: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/09/28/AR2010092806523.html?hpid=topnews
  3. I think the dish on Oz is probably in the Thai-ing The Knot thread!
  4. We'll know the outcome in November. I am supporting the gay guy since I know how few gay judges they have in SF.
  5. ...and, speaking of newspapers, can you imagine that this article made the Wall Street Journal? It's about how naked a designer gets for an ad: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704654004575518303935207266.html
  6. The NY Times reports on the thousands of western men marrying Thai women, and some of their curious reasons for doing so: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/09/25/world/asia/25iht-thai.html?src=me&ref=world
  7. Surely we wouldn't want to miss out on pix like this one from kennethinthe212.com!
  8. So take your pic. Want to read about cops busting gays in Beijing? Well, here you go: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/09/28/beijing-police-raid-gay-s_n_741613.html (What would Hillary say? http://www.towleroad.com/2010/09/will-clinton-speak-out-against-chinas-gay-crackdown.html#more Or, how about that popular gay hotspot, Palm Springs, where the police force entraps gays right in their own resort area, while the police chief is referring to them as faggots! (Hey, allegedly referring to them as faggots. We're fair here.) http://www.mydesert.com/article/20100928/NEWS01/9280304/Complaint-Palm-Springs-police-Chief-David-Dominguez-used-expletive
  9. Nowadays many online newspapers allow the reader to comment on the article. It is a rather worthless endeavor on the larger papers, because who is going to read through 400 and some comments to see yours? But some actually rank the comments according to "most popular" so you at least get the gist of them. So guess what? I comment...a lot. I love to see people respond to what I say, and maybe get a rise out of a diehard conservative. Today the SFgate.com has an article on a gay lawyer running against an incumbent judge. It seems the incumbent wants to speak at the gay community center, but some nitwit said that was a bad idea given that he was opposing a gay man. Turns out the incumbent will be trotting out his lesbian sister from Iowa or Idaho for the occasion. But the columnist wants to make the candidate look bad for the nitwit's comment. What would you have said? (BTW- the gay lawyer running is author Michael Nava, who has written a series of gay detective novels, and is widely respected as a writer of many appellate court opinions as well. Don't be thinking that being gay in San Francisco is automatically gonna get you elected either. Those quys know how to eat their own.)
  10. I entered the word I read here- potched- and all Google would give was poached.
  11. Let's hope we don't have Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorina overseeing anything come January. Whitman thinks if she just bids high enough, she can win. Fiorina is a failed executive at a big corporation, why does she think she can run a state?
  12. And then just how are we to mark the spot?
  13. It's hard enough watching Sarah Palin, but watching her daughter dance may be harder. She is luckier than the Situation, who also cannot dance at all, because she has Mark, a really skilled dancer, to make her look better. The Situation cannot lead, as Mark can, so he loses some of the benefit of his teacher, whose name escapes me. Why am I watching Dancing with the Stars? Well, truthfully, I only watch for Derek Hough. Boy, can he dance. But now, with Bristol and The Situation, well, you look to see who is going to fall down first. But, Levi and the Situation, yes, I would watch. I would even watch Derek and The Situation. The Situation....and he has us calling him that?!
  14. Ho-Ho Hotels do that all the time. Next thing you know, they will ask you to save water by not having your room cleaned that day- at all! The poor maids lose out, you don't get your room cleaned, and Oz gets no ho's in his room!
  15. That boy couldn't take all of Ralph in his mouth, but he sure did take it all in his ass. Matrix- next?
  16. Well, I didn't watch it all, BUT, I did get a kick out of you asking to have a post deleted. Me, I just edit them to death. Now everyone sing along....it's raining, it''s pouring...
  17. My post was meant to be light-hearted. After all, I do edit them a lot.
  18. Don't let me catch you editing a post...not to mention getting one deleted!
  19. Who knows how to win hearts and minds better than Lookin?
  20. 31 years ago he cruised my roommate at the grocery. That's as first hand as I can get on this.
  21. Lucky

    Donation List

Good point on those admin costs, CharlieSF. (Giving directly to me would reduce that.) And no one is happy with mail and phone requests either. Go to the grocery, Costco, Walgreens, the movies, etc, and they all want you to make a donation today to whatever cause they deem just.
  22. And, not to leave anyone out:
  23. Why stop at the eye?
  24. Adult men voluntarily agreeing to ban discussions of politics on a gay message board? Okay with me, as I have never seen anyone change his mind due to a political discussion here...or over there!
  25. I'm guessing that this is a rhetorical question! But, if not, then surely a bank would go slow when someone waved money at them. It's not as they don't have enough real foreclosures to deal with. And, even with those it reportedly can take two years from start to finish if you fight it.
