It would be a mistake not to take seriously the fact that Rio has a huge crime problem. Don't bother comparing it to other cities, it is what it is. When you are there, the crime problem in Rio is much more important than Chicago's. That said, we know from these forums that many people here go to Rio and come home safely. There are common sense things to do to protect yourself, all well documented in this forum. But we can talk about crime in Rio for weeks. The bottom line is we want to go, we are unlikely to be victimized if we observe standard common sense safety rules, and don't let ourselves get into situations where drugs, drink, or dick cause us to lose judgment. I have always felt safe in Rio. I plan to keep going. I could come home with malaria, yellow fever, dengue, STDs, or I might come home damaged from violence. The odds are currently in my favor to come home safely, and that's just what I intend to do. Satiated sexually, of course!

DeNiro could have spoken up anywhere and received press coverage. Why he had to sabotage the TONYS isn't easy to explain. They need the attention the awards can bring, but DeNiro only cared about himself. If he wanted attention, just call TMZ. They'll respond like hungry dogs at a picnic.

I have a tumblr blog, not a big one, but from time to time I like to look at the pix I have saved. What bothers me is that tumblr keeps adding new blog posts from blogs in which I have no interest. I delete them, but they reappear almost immediately. Is there a setting I can adjust to block these unwanted posts?

Robert De Niro was a guest at the TONY Awards. He had a specific job- to introduce Bruce Springsteen. De Niro is not a stage actor. Because he is a big movie star he gets invited in the hope that he will help the TONYS poor TV ratings. But as a guest he had to mind his manners. The show was trying to avoid becoming an anti-Trump rally. Until De Niro came on, it had. His vulgarity may have been a crowd pleaser, but it distracted the news reporters from the awards themselves. How is that for putting yourself before your host? Since Sunday, do you read much about the TONYS? Or do you see more written about De Niro? I hope that they never invite him back. And no, I am not, nor have I ever been, a Trump supporter.

Trump is deranged. He goes into these meetings unprepared. He is not a student of history or government. Eihard Madaleno is running for governor in Maryland. He is the first openly gay assemblyman there, and is ranked fourth in polls to obtain the nomination of Democrats for governor. Interestingly, the leading candidate is "Ben Jealous." In an ad called "Take That, Trump" he lists reasons to vote for him, and concludes the ad with a notable kiss with the husband, Mark Hodge. As Donald Trump appoints right-wing, young lawyers to the federal bench across the United States, we are increasingly going to see cases go against gay people. Look how quickly Elena Kagan joined the majority in the case of the baker refusing a cake to a gay couple. If liberal Kagan is jumping on that bandwagon, think how the newly minted conservative justices in lower federal courts are thinking. Same-sex marriage will give way. Mark my words.
