I've been to Greece - to both places you mention - but not for 5 years. My view FWIW: I do NOT recommend a visit. On my last visit, I travelled with a good friend/fuckbuddy who is fluent in modern Greek and has lived in Athens. I enjoyed the holiday with him but not the numerous disputes/arguments he had to wage with taxi-drivers (wrong routes, meter allegedly not working etc) and restauranteurs (inflated bills, drinks not ordered etc) . I found it strange as he is equable but, like me, he dislikes being ripped-off and the Greeks were arguing with someone who could obviously answer them fluently. I'm a 'foodie' and I recall that the best dinner we ate was in a lesbian-cafe in Athens; it was also the cheapest meal. Santorini is spectacular but you really don't want to be there when hundreds of passengers are disgorged from visiting ships.

I know that region of Spain and Ronda well. It's a VERY small town. I confess that I am bemused by your posting about the hunky young man. I wonder why you felt you had to be subtle if you found him on Grindr. Given the very high rate of youth unemployment in the region (estimated at over 40%), he may well not have a car and might have very little money. Maybe you should have offered to drive over to collect him and to take him out for a good evening, before returning him home later.

RESOURCE IF YOU GO TO ARGENTINA
msclelovr replied to Latbear4blk's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
No @Latbear4blk I don't mean to be a cock-tease. I was simply describing the range and quality of 'below the radar' guys in Buenos Aires who simply wished to augment their incomes. As it happened, such guys preferred the company of an older foreigner visiting BA. I found that in general they valued discretion and, if seen out with a man. thought it better to be with a visitor than have to explain an older local man to their friends. On my various visits, I did explore several commercial offerings but I never found any of the type (preppy muscleboys) I like. I did find many attractive guys off-the-scene through recommendations and ordinary dating sites, eg I met the polo-player through Manhunt, the "lab rat" (as the red-haired guy was nicknamed) through Facebook, and the green-eyed soldier through a contact on foro-escorts. I can only suggest you read all the reviews/recommendations in that forum and see who appeals to you. I always sent polite messages congratulating the poster on his experience and enquiring if he was able to share the contact info for the guy. -

RESOURCE IF YOU GO TO ARGENTINA

I agree with you on the importance of local knowledge in Argentina. When I had extended stays in Buenos Aires I found https://www.escortsxp.com/foro/forum/foro-escorts-hombres/escorts-masculinos-ciudad-de-buenos-aires especially useful. I used to chat with local clients and in private messages I was introduced to several guys that were 'my type' - handsome 21-30, preppy with fit muscled bodies - who never advertised as they wanted to stay 'below the radar'. Among others, I met in that way a young polo-player who turned out to be a voracious bottom, a charming muscleboy with flame-red hair who was an dedicated rimmer and a remarkably handsome young soldier with vivid green eyes who suffered badly from the Argentine disease of chronic lateness. -
I think @Gotti is entirely correct on this. I have several fit Brazilian friends, all of whom played with me in the past. They appreciated help from an older man and stayed with me when visiting Europe. Two are from Rio and both are now actors in different telenovelas. My one friend from SP, formerly a spectacular fitness model who is now a banker, used to visit Lagoa - never to work - just to find a fit young man to bottom for him. The smart guys prize discretion and think of their future careers.

Thanks for the summary @Tomcal It made it easy to appreciate the different saunas (after your original thread was hijacked). I like your "standard reply" too. If it's not copyrighted, I may use it as a defence against future would-be leeches ;-)

Zürich, Viena, Budapest, or Bucharest?
msclelovr replied to Walker's topic in European Men and Destinations
I guess only you can decide whether those places will offer you what you seek. Bucharest may indeed be no fun. Surely it would help to detail precisely what you're seeking if you want others to provide you with help or information. -
Thanks for the report and photos. The hotel looks lovely. Do you mind saying where it's located?

Paying for non-performance - clarifications
msclelovr replied to 12is12's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
Sorry to read this, but I think it would help other visitors if you will name and describe the garoto. Then others can avoid him. -
@floridarob that was an interesting read. Thanks for posting this link https://outofyourrut.com/10-ways-to-be-rich-without-being-wealthy/ I certainly agree with you that fewer possessions and more experiences enhance life. Consequently I travel for more than half the year, and I’ve done so for 20years. I suspect only ill-health will stop me.

Hot Brazilian Guys in Tindr
msclelovr replied to sanddunes's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
@sanddunes, I’ve not used Tinder so please will you expand on how you search for hot young Brazilian guys. Do you advertise as a gay man? Or do you just say you’re looking for sex with another man? -
Paying for non-performance - clarifications
msclelovr replied to 12is12's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
Thanks for clarifying 12is12. No-one likes being cheated and I agree that cheats should not be paid. That said, I would recall the old saying: ‘Discretion is the better part of Valour’. I would never seek to involve the police in Latin America in a dispute - it might well cost you more. I was once cheated (in London, not Brazil) by a guy I’d dated 3x before. He got high, would not perform and became aggressive. Unfortunately he was between me and the door when he threatened violence, so I put some money down ($100 equivalent) to draw him away from the door. It worked and I left unharmed. I got over the bad experience the very next night. I pumped a handsome muscleboy’s butt vigorously, for I had recalled another old saying: ‘If you’re thrown off a horse, get back in the saddle pronto’. -
Why pay for non-performance?!

A Newbie's First Time in Brazil
msclelovr replied to numazu's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
I find this site very useful overall. Somehow I miss all the controversies that flare up from time to time. Perhaps it’s my ability to scroll through threads rapidly that serves me well. -
FWIW I was in Avignon for a few days in 2008. The gay scene was small - there was a popular but not large disco (on the edge of the centre, with a bar and dancing) and also a small and poorly-attended bar in the centre. At that time, quite a few Arabs had been moved from Marseilles to Avignon (apparently by mayoral edict) and there was some talk of increased street-crime.

RESOURCE IF YOU GO TO ARGENTINA
msclelovr replied to Latbear4blk's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
I haven't read the original exchange in that forum, but I'm astounded that anyone would make that claim ("there is no racism in Argentina"). During my numerous visits, staying for a month or more, I was appalled by the casual racism displayed by many in Buenos Aires and in Patagonia. Even well-travelled Argentine professionals lamented that the capital was not as 'white' as it used to be and was becoming more mixed (like London, as they put it). My apologies if this true story offends but it is illustrative. The most jaw-dropping racism I ever heard was at a dinner party of medical professionals, in a smart restaurant, who complained how much more prosperous Brazilians were becoming. Tho I speak Spanish, I didn't at first understand that when they talked about holidays in Rio and Punta del Este and complained about the 'monkeys'... that they were referring to their Brazilian counterparts -
Is everyone else, like me, mentally interpolating "short-lived" in that sentence?
-
It played for me. I know young Brazilians and Argentines can be very keen on cosmetic procedures...but this is crazy IMO
-
Normally it is an abbreviation of Ignacio. Perhaps confusingly, in Spain a man may have a second given name that is female (eg Maria) and a woman may have a second given name that is male (eg Jesus).

No, I wouldn’t. But I have a well-muscled friend, a big tall guy who’s versatile in bed. Like me, he enjoys the challenge of topping physically bigger guys...but he adores getting topped by small, skinny guys.
