  1. I kinda liked the new Marvel shows too, Falcon and the Brooding Bottom, Wandavision. Sadly I lost my hookup to watching it for free before Loki comes out which is likely to be the best of the three.
  2. Fingers crossed Trump will tell them to inject it!
  3. While there's a lot of right-wing dipshits (redundant...) decrying vaccine passports as "show me your papers" it's well within the rights of private business to require. I've already signed up for a local vaccinated-only bar and there's some stuff in the state guidelines for re-opening specifically allowing far greater numbers at things like movies if the group is vaccinated. The pro-vaccination crowd has long missed out on the positive message of what all you can do again once vaccinated.

    So tragic!

With all the Covid deaths lately, this is particularly sad to see...
  5. Thought this was sad too, but supposedly they will continue to work together on the foundation.
  6. Pretty sure they'll revamp the iMacPro and have it be 27", maybe without the awful chin too. At this point their CPUs are a slam-dunk if you want a mac, so probably worth waiting for.
  7. Also be very clear on how any financial advice you're getting is being paid for. Is the Financial Advisor contracted to a FIDUCIARY duty to you (recommended)? Or are they going to just be *selling* you whatever gives them the best commission?
  8. I just flew for the first time in a year or so, am very familiar with Boeing's issues and aviation in general, and wouldn't have minded if the 737-8 I took for one of the flights had been a Max. Just like crime stats, there are blips people get all passionate about but the decline in incidents and deaths in my lifetime has been MASSIVE and is now so low as to be nearly infinitesimal. The Max engineering was crappy, and may still need some addressing, but was only catastrophic in combination with developing-world airlines. I'd say choosing a US, Canadian, or western-Europe flag carrier (several of whom had the MCAS issue in-flight but dealt with it fine) has a much greater impact on the percentages than avoiding whatever the currently infamous aircraft is, and even so it's still far less danger than driving to the airport or even walking around your neighborhood crossing streets.

    Nespresso

I have one I bought when I was working in another town, but now that I'm back home I haven't set it up yet. My Tassimo still works and the pods are cheaper. But Tassimo is on the decline so when the machine breaks or I can't find the pods I like I'll switch to Nespresso. Both Tassimo and Nespresso are head and shoulders above Keurig because they're capable of actually pressure and don't taste like you dribbled hot water through a couple grains of coffee inside melting plastic... Another benefit to Nespresso is the all-metal pods are very recyclable and the company helps with that directly. Compared to everybody "wishcycling" their other pods and probably just contaminating other recyclables. Of course a grinder and espresso machine is even better, but the Nespresso comes close enough for me. I like to make a red-eye or two every morning (coffee plus a shot of espresso) and it's a bit expensive with Nespresso but tastes good. And even if you just like a simple cup of coffee, the Virtuo pod line has a lot of selections, very easy, and really does taste better than Keurig. The only benefit Keurig has is price/availability.
  10. I had long ago decided I didn't like the way he ran his message board (or how he got it) but I still appreciated, until the end, his curation of interesting news stories. They had been one of my main connections to gay culture and were a point of view I will deeply miss. It is tragic that the final one is "The nurse says I have a cold", even now that I finally know I still go by habit, hoping it'll suddenly start updating again like in the past. You only fully appreciate something when it's gone.
  11. It's a real problem. Forcing people to lie about their behavior makes them vulnerable and that's not something you want in the Whitehouse. Plus telling people it'd be ok, just tell the truth and then turning around and doing this... not good. Though on the other hand, I've had a couple pot head boys live with me and the kind of person who has to have pot every day isn't the kind of person I'd hire, especially for a critical role. But occasionally or in the past, who gives a fuck?
  12. I liked it better than the Whedon cut. It flows a lot better, parts of the story make more sense, and it isn't filled with shoveled-in awkward quips. But less awful doesn't equal great or even good. With several drinks it'll help you pass 4 hours. Especially when Cavil shows up towards the end. Cyborg has a real role and Flash isn't insufferable now. What I take away from it is that Warner overstepped themselves using Snyder's tragedy to wrestle back control, greedily trying to maximize any chance for profit and in doing so nearly killed the franchise. They chose to put Snyder in charge and without their interference he would've made something at least OK they could've built on. Instead they pissed everybody off, alienated most, and had to be overruled by ATT to even release a better version of the movie. So it was interesting to see that happen--this seems to vindicate Ray Fisher and excoriate the Warner execs, which is fun. More fun than the movie, in fact.
  13. A lot of people were pissed at the way they removed him, and he'd maintained that it wouldn't have been shit if Jos Wheadon hadn't fucked it up, plus there's a lot that's come out about Jos being something of a POS including on this set, so... maybe it won't totally suck? It's hard to imagine it being worse. And I already have HBOmax so I can see it for free at least. Definitely not the movie worth breaking a year+ of theater abstinence with.
  14. There're still occasional boys for hire on Grindr LA, and I may have given in and hooked up with one or two former regulars. Also, some are starting to be vaccinated, and I hope to get my first shot around the end of the month! However can't go too big into hiring until I secure a new job...
  15. Jeeze, if we ever get out of the Covid Clusterfuck I'm gonna have to take any Angelino board members to where there's real beer! Art's District brewing downtown is good. Karl Strauss (only the one downtown also has a great selection of better beers than their in-house) and Mikkeller (SHIT, never mind, just looked up spelling and it CLOSED), well if you're in SF try it there! Think they're in SD too. Blue Palms in Hollywood is owned by the Art's District people, great beer selection and food. We're Pouring in Glendale is good beer and food. Wolf Creek in Santa Clarita is great food and some good beer.
