Thanks for sharing this information with us @Latbear4blk.  This is also my fear for our Gayguides.com forum - in that one day it just vanishes for whatever reason.  Currently, we are ALL very lucky that we have @TotallyOz who is our current benefactor and keeps Gayguides going.  I am truly grateful.
Over the years, many forums and websites that I was very fond of have disappeared over the years due to the server that was hosting those sites not being paid for anymore.  90% of the time it was not out of maliciousness - its just that the founders of these said sites just lost interest or passed on in life and there was no well thought out succession plan.

Vinapu's explanation that it is the boy's interest to register his off with the bar (even if it was 6pm and the bar wouldn't be open yet) is credible. Even if that wasn't the guy's motivation, I think it speaks to his integrity as a sort-of- employee to make sure the bar got its cut. You appreciated his honesty earlier when he reminded you that he had already received his fee. There's no reason to think he is not honest with his boss.

I have scans of maps from Thai Scene and The Men of Thailand dated 1994-1997, and they all show Tawan (aka Tawan Cocktail Lounge aka Tawan Club) at the same location on Soi Tantawan.

When Tawan first opened, which was either at the very end of 1986 or the beginning of 1987, it was located on Surawong Road, opposite the Tawana Hotel, which at that time was still the Tawana Sheraton. It was on the 1st floor, not the ground floor
It wasn't a muscle bar in the beginning, That only started a few years later. I recommend you Palermo Soho, Palermo Hollywood, and Recoleta. I was sick of Recoleta but I found it renewed after the pandemics. The security in the building depends on the building. You may rent an airbnb without a doorman, one with security staff who do not care about your visitors, one with security staff that ask for their IDs, it can be anything. Read carefully the details in airbnb and contact the host to ask for details. 
Security is standard in those three neighborhoods, and usually foreigners feel comfortable in them. There are more options I think are also safe, but others may find more adventurous, like San Telmo. Puerto Madero is also a beautiful neighborhood, but it is a little disconnected from the rest of the city. 
Take the regular precautions if you are inviting anyone to your place. If you are not used to do it, just use instead one of the many "albergues transitorios" around the city. Many escorts host in their places. Check the local forum and ask for experiences with the guys you are interested in hiring.

Felt like chiming in from my Nov 2025 adventure.

I will add, though, that 117 has currently ceased their previous unique promotional discounts for Wednesday. This is the first time I've seen this mentioned in this forum. Yes Hamburgo Street between Sevilla street and Florencia Street are street hustlers. Sometimes they spill over to Hamburgo and Amberes street like what user Latbear4blk mentioned, but it's rarer now. This section of Hamburgo has guys standing on the north side of the street, facing oncoming traffic and they stand next to the parked cars. You'll know they are hustlers because they will be nicely dressed in suits or dressed like "chacales" which are straight acting dudes (wearing a ball cap, clean tennis shoes, maybe tattooed, wearing gold or silver chains around the neck). They stand next to parked cars because clients will drive by looking at the "merchandise" and stop to discuss prices through the window. Police drive by but everything is tolerated and you won't be hassled. There are also men who act as security who are in cars or nearby in case anyone becomes rowdy - the hustlers pay a "piso" which is like a protection fee for the people who control that street at night. If you're walking on the sidewalk you can chat them up too and discuss prices. Most of the guys have hotels they prefer but they'll be willing to go anywhere you tell them. A popular hotel to take the guy back is Hotel Cies (an hourly hotel which caters specifically to escorts and their clients) which is about 6 city blocks away or 10 minutes by car - best you drive or take an Uber there.

I'd probably look for a different hotel if you could... just a quick search of reviews, sounds like security is everywhere and they make everyone that comes to visit register.

I live in Sao Paulo.  For 3 years.  200-250 with 300-400 with milk is common.  NOT for Brazilians.  They love to barter-I mean they enjoy bartering with each other (Clients and customers) so move those figures down by 30-50% if you are a native Portuguese speaker.  Otherwise, like a friend who now lives in NY but is here frequently and also born in Brazil said to me, quite bluntly (referring to how. much I paid to have a suit altered) "Are you kidding me?  Wow, you got screwed (not in the way I like either).  Then again, you'll always pay more, period."  HOWEVER, there's gringo surcharge and there outright rediculous.   I just don't think $100 US is a good price, it's an awful price especially with the real being over 6:1 R/$.  150-200 was common just post-pandemic but things have increased a bit.  But the Brazilians HATE us going to Lagoa and inflating the prices.  

Seem to be three styles at Lagoa:
(1) Negotiate for the lowest price possible. Insist on 100 or 150. For them, sex is better if they can be proud they got a bargain.
(2) Say (without asking!) 200 -- and 19 out of 20 will accept. For them, this smooth process is more relaxing and seems less commercial. Quick and easy. At the current great exchange rate, why quibble over 50 reals?
(3) Ask the GP! Given this opportunity, many GPs will of course try for more than 200. So these clients now either have to make the GP lose face and bargain them down to accept less -- or pay the higher asking price. I don't see any advantages in this approach but apparently many clients use it.
